The Dark Knight Rises (Batman 3) - No Riddler

Although Anne was upfront regarding “Glee,” she remained mum about discussing her role as Catwoman in Chris Nolan‘s upcoming “The Dark Knight Rises” explaining, “the most beautiful thing about this project is that when you sign your contract they make you take an omertà, so I really can’t tell you a thing about it.”

Well this is taking a weird-ass turn..

im all for it though, do whatever the fuck you want Nolan, i know you get it

and i loved Birth of the Demon anyway, i'll be fine with aspects of it.

My only REAL concern is that there's too much stuff going on..

Like anyone who pops into a Dark Knight Rises thread regularly was going to make it all the way until summer 2012 without knowing about this casting. Geez.

I'm fine with it, but I can understand why jett would be upset. Casting is one thing, saying that
the film travels back thirty years in time for a period of the film following a certain character
certainly spoils the story some.

Not really.
If you're told the character, it's obvious how it would come into play. If we hear that someone's playing young Bruce, is it an additional spoiler to learn that it's in a flashback? No.

I really don't think people who actively read a thread should be upset about basic spoilers. It'd be like me reading all of the Game of Thrones on HBO thread and whining that foundations of the series have been spoiled for me. It's sorta true, but I'm asking for it, and it's difficult to avoid without stifling discussion. If we spoiler something little like this, the whole thread will be black blocks by the fall.

Didn't someone on GAF say they knew Josh Pence and he was pissed he virtually got cut out of The Social Network? I guess luck comes around, since this is a much bigger film.

A flashback is always an interesting directorial choice and many a time is a key moment in a movie's narrative. The character in question (if the news is true) makes for this to be all the more interesting and possibly surprising. The cast has been mentioning the relevance of the series' continuity but have not commented on the nature of the connection and I think Nolan prevented them from doing so for a reason.

I'm not terribly butt hurt, and for all I know the sequence could be previewed in the trailer.

Yeah, I'm not sure what they expect going into official threads. If you want to know just headline developments without going in-depth, simply follow some film news sites on Twitter and never click their links.

Dude, maybe people interested in movies should just stay off forums altogether. How hard is it to type spoiler tags? It takes you two seconds and shows consideration for other posters who share different values. That's why the spoiler tags exist. For spoilers. Why is it so hard to understand? Just type the tags. Jesus.

But your idea of spoilers is wildly different than everyone else. For example, in The Tree of Life thread we discussed
dinosaurs
since the beginning of the thread, always not w/ spoiler tags. Then you came in and threw a fit.

I hadn't seen any discussion since the beginning of the thread regarding them. I also don't remember seeing them in the only released trailer. Maybe I'm blind, but if they were indeed advertised in the trailer then I apologize, but I didn't see them in the times I've watched the trailer.

I think if its been advertised in the trailer its fair game. But to reveal a huge plot detail like the one just revealed in this thread (which I'm honestly not upset over), without bothering to take a couple seconds to type spoiler tags (bothering to be considerate to those who don't share your same metric on what denotes a spoiler), is to be a pretty big dickface.

If anything, I hope this news means remembering that Bruce is a trained ninja - something which seemed to be forgotten in TDK.

I don't think it was forgotten... it just wasn't important to the plot. He used what he learned in fights. It's not like he's a member of the Foot Clan

All I know is that Bruce announced his own presence in a dark, gutted out building to a disturbed DA with an itchy trigger finger primed on a child's head.

Still one of the clumsiest ending scenes I've watched in a comic book movie. Bale's acting (fine he fucked up the voice, but what's with the breathing?), the terribly static cinematography, Harvey's game of Russian roulette, Batman getting shot in a stupid manner (durr shoot my face), Harvey's death, the kid asking if Batman is alright after the fall, the logic behind Batman taking the fall for Harvey (there were a million other ways to set up the "Batman Fugitive" plot without shoehorning it) and the transparent tension through out.

Harvey should have just shot himself after initially threatening the kid. While not creative, it would have made a lot more sense given the character's development and it would have avoided all the awkward shit in between.

Nolan and Co. have been scouting the New York Stock Exchange this week

C'mon, not cool, spoil that shit. Now I know where a scene might take place!

Oh my god that picture confused me for a second. The foreground blends so well to the middleground that I thought someone just pasted in a group of people with Nolan into the picture.

I dunno. Looks pretty agile and graceful to me.

It's not in the trailer.

It is on the poster though, however subtle it may be. I like you sculli, so don't think I'm hatin, but you do get way too sensitive about stuff like this.

edit:

WHOA WHAT THEFUCK I AM IN THE WRONG THREAD

Agreed. I don't get how hard it is for people. Casting news is one thing, but then posting spoilers about who they will play or the plot details itself should be spoileres. I realize I am in the official TDKR thread because I want to be part of the thread that tracks the development, but doesn't mean everyone here wants to know everything before they watch the movie. People complain all the time about trailers that show everything about the movie yet some people can't spoiler tag?

On a side note I never understood the desire to want to know every detail or the whole plot beforehand anyway. Doesn't that ruin the experience of watching the movie?

People are getting up in arms about nothing. We're a year away from release and all these "story tid-bits" that accompany the casting news are guaranteed bullshit. Check the TDK thread around the same time in 2007 and you'll see the amount of conjecture fluff that didn't pan out.

What was up with that big hoop in front of her? Great design Babs.

The infamous Bathoop. Villains would be confused about it's purpose, making the fight for Babs all the easier.

We find out Bane and Bruce are actually twin brothers.

Bruce and Bane are the results of an experiment that would allow for the perfect child. Bane was planned and grows to athletic proportions. Bruce is an accident and is somewhat smaller in stature. Bane is placed in an orphanage while Bruce is taken to a south seas island and raised by philosophers. Bane becomes the ultimate low life and is about to be killed by loan sharks when Bruce discovers that he has a brother and begins looking for him.

This is where Batman becomes pregnant. Certainly explains this image:

Although I agree with most of this, I still thought Harvey's last monologue was awesome and one of the highlights of the movie (not what happens around that, but just the dialogue itself).

This scene was epic, seriously. I hope it sets the tone for Batman 3. Two-face wanting to drive Gordon crazy by shooting his son in the head is brutal as hell. How would you have delivered it? I thought the tension was quite palpable escalated by Howard Zimmermans hopeless music.
