The Dark Knight Rises (Batman 3) - No Riddler

I thought Nolan was not going to introduce stupid characters into these movies.

Catwoman.

There is no redemption for the character.

Yeah, whoever said Bale is bulkier than his build in Batman Begins is wrong. He is slightly bulkier than his TDK build though.
He was 190 in both movies. In TDK he was a lean 190 though. You can never tell how big someone is in a suit if it is cut for you. Look at someone like GSP, he weighs around 200 pounds, is 5'11" and looks like a skinny guy when he is in a suit. Bale is taller than him too. So lean mass won't look the same has bulk. Which is what Bale had on him in BB. Probably from Steroids because he gained a huge amount of weight in such little time.

Anne looks hot. :D

I'm sure Tom Hardy will be good as Bane but after watching Fright Night, I can't help but think that Colin Farrell would have been an amazing Bane.

Man's an amazing actor.

The guy on the left looked like Naveen Andrews to me at first.

I am sure you have seen the New World then right? Maybe his best performance!!!!!

Great outfits, but I'm having trouble not seeing Hathaway as just playing dress-up here. She's much more of a comic/musical actor in my mind than a character with gravitas in the Batman world. Maybe that's just from comparing her too much with previous Catwomans, though. Hopefully she puts a spin on the character that plays to her strengths.

Keep that shit out of here. We dont question Nolan's choices.

Comical? What about Brokeback Mountain, Love and Other Drugs, Havoc, or Rachel Getting Married.

Eh, maybe my larger point really was that I don't buy her in dramatic roles, period.

In Nolan I Trust, though.

I still think his face is looking kinda gaunt, but I put that more on the make-up team than Bale.
people need to stop looking at these pics and thinking the movie will look anything like them, after editing and post production and the filtering and whatever else that goes down, everything will look normal.

Normally I would agree, but I've long lambasted the make-up team from TDK. Wayne looked awful make-up wise.

Sure, his face looks gaunt, but his frame seems a lot more filled out than in TDK. Somewhere between BB and TDK.
Which is where TDKR will fall, too ;)

What - do you think TDKR will be the best or the worst then?

Marion Cotillard just said that her character bears no conection to the Batman comics.

wut?

Her character is made up for the movie, ala Rachel Dawes. Nothing really mindblowing there...

OH! I thought you meant in regards to a time line. Pay me no mind.

Of course I'm hoping that it is the best, but my gut tells me you're right. I fear that it may Spiderman 3 itself and have too much shit going on. Likewise, I expect Hardy and Hathaway to do a great job, but I don't think their characters really allow for the type of performance Ledger gave. The only area that I can confidently see it outdoing TDK in would be box-office. Yes, this one doesn't have the death of one of it's principal actors bringing in people who want to see his last performance (at least I hope it won't) but I think the success of TDK has made TDKR a sort of cultural event more so than just a blockbuster. Not to mention ticket prices are simply higher.

I fully expect a lot of people to outright come down hard on it just because it is exists, then a couple years afterwards there'll be a plethora of "Is TDKR underrated?" threads.

I dunno. As someone who really loves BB and has a lot of problems with TDK, I'm really looking forward to this as a redemption film, both for Bruce/Batman and for the trilogy for me.

It's the typical cycle for anything that has universal acclaim. Immense praise eventually gives way to feeling that something is over rated, then spending enough time thinking something is over rated eventually leads to thinking it's actually under rated. Repeat until sun explodes. Hell, if the ball doesn't start rolling fast enough someone will voice a contrary opinion just for the hell of it. People can never maintain agreement with each other indefinitely.

Can you explain what you mean by the bad makeup? Bale looked thin and weak cause I figured he didn't bulk up as much. Maggie...well you can't fix too much on her.

This is the nature of things. I'm glad TDK made so much money. Now we can get a true sequel to BB.

I mean I can see every wrinkle, heavy bags, pore, mole and pale cell of skin on his mug in TDK. It looks like between Begins and TDK Bruce started experimenting with my than weaponized hallucinogens.

I'm here in LA standing on a bridge above where they're filming. Can't see too much, as any good location is blocked off, but right now they've shot three takes of the same scene. One of a guy(don't know who) sneaking alongside a damaged truck. another the same thing but with two other guya yelling. And a third of him aneaking up to the side the truck, strangling a guy from behind and quietly dropping him, then continuing alongside it. can't take any picturesaince there are a decent number of security over here. There's also one large faux wall they have built under the bridge that is set up to be smashed through.

Some day we'll take all of these eye witness reports and stitch them together, like Lucas fans making an original edition version of the movie.

Exciting! I believe I'm very close to where ever you are. I might try to snoop around if I can.

It looks like they have set up lighting and some other stuff underneath the brdge by that wall I mentioned. They might be moving down here. I heard from one of the guards that they should be out here until around 4.

They're done filming for tonight. They ended with three shots of...I believe JGL and some black guy "falling" over some sand bags off of a roof. I could be mistaken about it being him. I moved to a spot where I could clearly see but my binoculars aren't that great. Definitely looked like his face though. I also spoke with one of the crew members working with some of the background lights near where I was standing, and he said tomorrow evening at 6 they're going to be out here, on the street, shooting all kinds if stuff with cars, explosions, police, and something with that wall that is set to explode. Hopefully I can make it down here after work.

Ohhh, what street were you on? I didn't bother to try heading out there tonight. And why did you put falling in quotation marks?

I was directly underneath the bridge, across from where they were filming. I'm not sure what that street name was. If you saw an extremely bright light next to the bridge, I was right there.

I said "falling" off the roof because they went over sandbags and fell maybe two feet onto a thick stack of padding.

Is J.N. Howard returning for TDKR?

No. Dude was barely present for TDK anyways, and it really hurt that score for me. The 50/50 partnership from BB was aces. You had JNH's subtletly and hauntingly beautiful tracks to balance out Zimmer's bombastic cues. It was a great mix. On TDK, it was more like 75/25 in favor of Zimmer, and on TDKR, its 100% Zimmer.

TDKR is the introduction of the world's first Inception Vuvuzela Horn, it will just be a constant bass vibration in the theater for 2.5 hours. Even your kids & grandparents are gonna involuntarily orgasm.
