The Dark Knight Rises' Oscar Hopes

If it's any good, The Hobbit might be the only genre fanboy movie that might sneak in some noms.

Fanboys are gonna find themselves real disappointed this Oscar season, especially QT.

All hail Affleck and he's perfectly-fine-if-not-amazing Argo, your 2012 Best Picture.

Les Miserables looks like a very strong contender too.

Fuck Les Mis and Tom Hooper. I don't even care if the film turns out to be the second coming, The King's Speech was painfully dull and the academy should from here-on snub anything the man does in atonement for their sins.

Although I do love Hugh Jackman. I hope he gets a nod/win/chance to perform during the ceremony.

I'm totally OK with the Oscars always going to these types of films. I think they will rarely get made otherwise, so as long as it helps that type of cinema, I don't see too much harm.

Negative. Best Picture will be a race between Lincoln and The Master.

Argo is currently the frontrunner by quite a bit. The Master came out and... that was it. Acting and screenplay noms are probably the most it can ask for at this point.

The race will probably change when Lincoln comes out. I don't think this year's race will be as clear cut as people think with all this stuff coming out at the very end of the year. We still have Life of Pi, Hobbit, and Django.

Rememer in high school lit, when you were reading Huck Finn and the ending was fucking awful? And it turns out Twain did that shit intentionally to prove a point?

Well, that's what TDK's ending has to be, everything from
Bane breaking Batman's back
on is terrible and a series of increasingly improbable coincidences. The entire last third plays out exactly like Nolan was mocking the suits at Warner Bros.

TDKR has literally zero chance in 2012. This is the year that gave us The Master, Cloud Atlas, Argo, Lincoln and many other incredible films.

I know it won't win... but I think it deserves a nomination. I loved the movie. Maybe Pfister will get an award for cinematography, but after seeing Skyfall, I think Deakins deserves it.
