the current plant is being shut down because of reported health issues. I think people should at least be concerned.

maybe it wouldn't be an issue if the production moving to Philly would mean a new, modern facility.

They have a brand new facility. This is more likely some nimbys who have issue with the idea or want to get paid off. Either that or people don't want the smell in their neighbirhood. Either way, we have an oil refinery and some heavy industry in south philly, stuff that probably has way worse and smellier fumes and people aren't getting sick every day. Really what happened is what you get when you stick industrial in the middle of the suburbs.

Why would I want a factory that emits an abrasive smell, as evidenced by the OP, coming into my area? Oh, I'm not sure.

So are you protesting the refinery and all of the other smell inducing industry in south philly too? Its called an industrial district and its well separated from the residential districts.
