The English Fan Translation Thread

The translation/re-insertion of Brandish 2 for PC-98 is finished and can be played through from beginning to end. However, the hacker found a way to work around the fixed-width strings (approximately half of the script), so I'll be re-translating those parts and then it's ready for release.

For the record, I very highly recommend this game. I meant to post about it yesterday when I heard it was out but I've been replaying it. Glory of Heracles 3 and 4 are among my favorite SNES RPGs. Check them out!

As a bit of trivia, the stories in Glory of Heracles 2, 3, and 4 were written by Kazushige Nojima (FF7+), and Glory of Heracles 4 was composed by Shogo Sakai (Mother 3).

As was promised for new years another patch for .hack//Link is out! Up to v0.3.5 now. The fanslations really far along now but many people will prolly wait until its done-done since editting and bug fixes aren't gonna be happening until the final release.

I hope we get to play Fate/Extra CCC in English in 2017.
Me to!

Ah I'm so late to this news!
I was checking romhacking.net today and saw it. I really like Glory of Heracles 1 I was going to play the series in order by my PC HDD's died along with my DQ3 save.

The soundtrack is amazing too, it's actually what encouraged me to play the franchise. Really love Atlantis and Summit of Atlas

Also anyone with Japanese only release RPG knowledge can tell me the difference between G·O·D and G·O·D Pure?

I'm extremely pleased to announce the release of a complete English patch for Animetic Story Game 1: Cardcaptor Sakura!

This translation is brought to you by myself and fellow GAFfer NoOneee!

Info blurb said:
Released by Arika in 1999 for the PlayStation, Animetic Story Game 1: Cardcaptor Sakura retells the first season of the popular anime in adventure game form. With beautiful 2D graphics, full voice acting, and animated cutscenes straight from the TV show, this game recreates the world of Cardcaptor Sakura more accurately than any other CCS game before or since (and there have been quite a few other attempts)!

The light-adventure gameplay is punctuated by an assortment of minigames that step up the action when it's time to capture the cards. Dodge lightning bolts from the Thunder card, dance to the rhythm with the Flower card, play Simon to sense the location of the Move card, and more. All of these challenges are available both during the story mode and in an endless score attack mode. And if action isn't your thing, you can always sit down for a round of fortune telling! Everything you do will earn you Sakura Coins, which can be used to purchase a multitude of concept art, voice samples, and so on, including many clips you won't find in the main story. You can even transfer voices to the PocketStation, if you're one of the twelve people who own one!

Is there actual like combat or is it just an interactive story kind of game?

No combat, mostly story. It's mainly loads of cutscenes, a fair bit of walking around (talking to folks, a few puzzles, etc.), and several minigames.

I played that Sakura game when I was so young! Thank you for translating that!

Wow, really? What a cool coincidence! You're very welcome.

Not sure if I'll get around to playing this with all these other games in the backlog but I wanted to say how much this reminds me of Mega Man Battle Network, graphically.
I am loving the graphics in that Cardcaptor Sakura game.

If there's one thing this game nails, it's presentation. Almost every scene has custom graphics for different outfits, actions, and so on. The sheer amount of voice and video is also pretty impressive. It takes up two discs for a game that only takes a few hours to beat!

Thanks for the info, sounds like something on a bored sunday but nothing to expedite and play right now. The game is story 1 are their sequel games that cover the other seasons?

You would think, but as far as I can tell, no, there aren't any. I can't find much of any info online about this "Animetic Story Game" series; they might have been planning on continuing Sakura, or maybe adapting another series altogether. The name certainly sounds like multiple shows were planned to be adapted, but then again, the only anime property Arika seemed to work with was CCS.

It's a mystery!

I won't bump the EP PSP thread again to breed more drama, but it can't be understated how complicated this script is. We've almost done every shop's dialogue, but it's only for one section of the game, since NPC dialogue changes after every special event.

There's even coding for it in the script:
Code:
<0005F5F0>
EBIT E0044<LINE>
Cleared Aoba Park<LINE>
Bit On!!
<END2>

Whoa, what? EP PSP is still being worked on? By who?! :O

Good to hear! Last I heard of the project was Traduko Soft taking it over then dropping off the face of the planet. How long have you guys been working on it?

Not long after Traduko announced it, Scorp said he actually was making progress and had extracted the script and wanted help editing it, so I volunteered. Then Traduko officially handed over the reigns.

So I'd say around a year or so.

Is there anyplace (besides this thread, I guess) that you post updates?

Thanks to all translators. The work you do is fantastic. Please, please keep it up

(How is the PC-88 emulator situation? Ive never even bumped with any info about it.)

46 Okunen Monogatari, a PC-98 RPG probably best known as being the predecessor to E.V.O.: Search for Eden, got translated. Here's a link to the team's website where you can download the patch.

E.V.O. never clicked for me personally, and maybe it's just because I'm a sucker for the system's aesthetics, but this game looks a lot more interesting to me. Looking forward to setting aside some time for it.

Thank you for posting! Evolution rpgs are one of my favorite subgenres, I had no idea this was being translated. Will have to check our sometime when I have a spare afternoon.

At this point I feel like it's quite likely XSEED will get those out on PC once they have time to work on them.

You're more optimistic than I am. But Zero has a fan translation in the works now being led by Guan. He also mentioned doing some early work on Ao too, which should be smoother than the Zero translation since they aren't picking up someone else's work.

Those and Growlanser PSP are the ones I'm hoping to see. Already have the games, lol.

Xseed is making a port of cold steel 1/2 happen on pc, clearly they have the will to get zero/ao on pc it'll likely be back burner to cs3 and other games but I think it'll eventually happen.

I've always wanted to play it. Did a search but I didn't find anything.

The problem isn't platform, it's justifying localizing two of the largest (if not the two largest depending on who you ask) games in the series when there isn't really any indication they will outsell SC and 3rd. 3rd was already basically a labor of love, committing to Crossbell is committing to doing 3rd five more times.

Brittany has basically said the same thing - sales sales sales. She desperately wants to work on those games and if XSEED knows they have a sufficient audience they can make it happen. There just isn't any guarantee of that audience right now.

For what it's worth, an update was posted for the Zero translation earlier.

There were translations in the works for both Zwei games on PC, and Zwei 2 was apparently almost done. They kind of fell off the face of the earth a few years ago though.
