Alan Wake's game play was really dull but at least I managed to complete the game. I gave up on The Evil Within around chapter 10. I'll never play either again but Alan Wake would get my vote.
Its weird for me to see praise for Evil Within's gameplay. It always feels clunky/unpolished as all hell to me. I'd go with Alan Wake. I found Alan Wake to be kind of middle of the road, but Evil Within is easily the worst game I own on PS4.
Evil Within for gameplay.
I feel it was more engaging and varied than Alan Wake. AW's gameplay really was a one trick pony imho. Evil Within for overall atmosphere.
Was just crazy in a good way. Alan Wake had a great atmosphere too though, I just prefer Evil Within's as it was a bit more "grotesque" in nature. Alan Wake for presentation and story.
I had some downtime at work so I decided to add up the number of posts that clearly stated preferring one game over the other. I ignored posts like "Alan wake had better X, but The Evil Within had better Y"
Nice to see Alan Wake in the lead and thanks for counting. I wondered before that don't we have a poll option here? Might be useful in such comparisons.
That's great to hear, I hope you enjoy it. Playing at night preferably with headphones really helps the immersion. It really is such an atmospheric game if you let it pull you in. Even though the gunplay might be a bit repetitive the use of the light at least makes it refreshing.
