Only one real complaint: they again feature a lot of close-up action cinematography. This was a bad choice, imo, as it makes a lot of action hard to see or appreciate. Blurry shaky cam zoomed in on limbs is okay on occasion...but damn near every scene (action or passive scenes) featured it constantly.

It really hurt my enjoyment. Still a fun movie. Just don't go expecting anything more than action from some of your favorite faces.

Really is the only critique i have. I got lots of what i expected. Several good one-liners too. :D
 
my writer just got back from the DC premiere, all he would send me: "Expendables sucked. Nice intro and ends better, but pretty fucking dull."

When I told him I may go at midnight:

"Don't see The Expendables. Don't."

He was really looking forward to it and usually ADORES these type of films.

Are you talking Rambo level camera style or the completely unwatchable Transformers style close up action? There were parts in Rambo where it was kind of annoying and others where I think it actually helped. Transformers was just a complete mess.

At times....several times...you won't really see what happened. You'll just know it was awesome.

Take that as you will. And yes, the story is barebones. Just enough to blow shit up.
 
Don't you get it yet Daniel? We really don't need you to tell us we shouldn't see this movie. We get it, you really want people to agree with your opinion on this movie and say it sucks. Your constant vocal dislike for this movie is really old now. Your opinion on this movie is clear "don't see it", but let us make up our own mind. You have crapped on this thread long enough, move on.

with a lot of "oooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!@@#%" spoken aloud. constantly.

you can think of the film as a 100m hurdles track & field event. where the "oooooh shit!" moments are the hurdles. as in, you'll be saying "oooooh shit!" from damn near the beginning to damn near the end...with a solid amount of regularity. :lol

I think you are confused. I don't care if Expendables makes a billion dollars and everyone in the world goes to see it. I'm more interested seeing if GAF (and filmgoers in general) have any standard for action movies and can not make a million excuses for The Expendables, just because it has an all-star cast.

the action in this movie can't really bit shat on. just a thought.

unless you don't like guns and mixed martial arts, in which case you should have known this movie wouldn't be for you in the first place.
 
A friend of mine at work was talking about this today. He's a film student, and he said he had to sign some NDA about the film. But he said it was awesome.
