Oh god reah i forgot about the TR remake, why cant they just leave these films alone i mean they still stand up today and are both classics so other than to make money whats the point???

As for the Robocop film i too am looking forward to it a lot, as long as its R/18 rated it they should be able to make a good film.
 
So Mickey Rourke is in this and Iron Man 2. Both films are shooting right the heck now, how is he splitting his time between both projects?

I'm guessing his role in The Expendables is basically going to be an expanded cameo.

So, I was watching Mickey Rourke on Jonathon Ross (British talkshow) last friday, and he told a story about Sylvester Stallone. Apparently, when Rourke was really down and out during a low point in the struggling actor’s career, Stallone used his contacts to get him a small part in GET CARTER (after meeting him in a restaurant). The producer wanted to pay him very little though, so much so that it was an insult. Rourke was desperate to land the part but the money was so "disrespectful" Rourke wanted to refuse, and then Stallone mediated between the producer and Rourke. In the end Rourke was paid a normal amount of money, and thought that this was paid for by the producer. It was Stallone's bodyguard who told him, much later, that Stallone had paid for the difference himself.

So awesome! Not only him helping out someone down on his luck but the fact that he was discreet about it. Mickey Rourke said a few weeks ago:
"Stallone saw me in a restaurant eating one night, where I could hardly pay for my fucking spaghetti. He paid my meal and put me in Get Carter.” (Then came his role as the imposing, brutal-yet-lovable Marv in Robert Rodriguez’s Sin City)

Sly said about Rourke:
"The fame Mickey enjoyed with “The Wrestler” was more than deserved, so it came as no surprise that the film was, and still is, immensely popular. I can totally believe it. It was just a matter of time... He’s a tough […] guy. He’s old school... Eventually someone was going to do a story that captures his heart, his plight and his biography. Mickey, if anybody deserves an Oscar, it’s you. No question about it. You lived it. You earned it. You deserve it. You’re an incredibly talented man. It’s about time everyone says, ‘You know what. Give it to the winner.’”

I remember when Stallone was promoting Get Carter and he told a story about Mickey Rourke, how he punched Sly hard enough that he accidentally broke one of his ribs during their fight scene.

He joked about it on Leno, how he was still friends with him, "I want to be friends with him, he can kick my ass." Or something to that effect. Cool guy that Sly.

The pic -- which counts Stallone, Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren and Randy Couture among its cast -- follows a team of mercenaries who head to South America on a mission to overthrow a dictator.

Murphy will play Rourke's girlfriend, a singer. The part calls for her to perform a musical number.

Zayas will play the dictator.

Stallone wrote the screenplay and is directing the film, which began production this week in Brazil. The production also will lens in Louisiana.

The role of Hale Caesar had also been tricky, with the initial offer going to Wesley Snipes, who could not participate due to his impending jail sentence. The role was rewritten for Forest Whitaker, who dropped out following the month delay due to Stallone's pre-filming injury. The role was offered to 50 cent a.k.a. Curtis Jackson, and then later to Terry Crews.

Ben Kingsley was offered the role of Monroe before Eric Roberts was cast. The Role may be combined with that of Agent Will Sands.

Stallone wanted Sandra Bullock to play the role of Agent Diane Lickson, yet Bullock's schedule did not work with the film and could not participate.

The role of the man who hires the Expendables, Mr. Church, has been very difficult to cast. Initially offered to Schwarzenegger, he declined in favor of a smaller cameo in respects to his political career. The role was then offered to Kurt Russel, who's agent replied that he was not interested in "Ensemble acting at the moment." Currently, Stallone is looking covertly to find a big action name to Cameo as Mr. Church, with rumors floating around that the role has been offered to Bruce Willis.

The hugeness that is The Expendables

today was one of those days when you realize just how BIG this film is. With 2 units shooting, 300 crew members, half who speak only Portuguese, car stunt, Statham hanging out of a plane, explosives, hundred extras and 85 degree heat with 85% humidity. But through it all Sly has kept his cool while acting, directing and tweaking lines with his cast. Thank God tomorrow is all on a process trailer!! Then we head back to Rio to get into the meat of the action - Sly has written and Chad out stunt coordinator has choreographed a freakin amazing battle. I’ve worked on a few action films (T3, Collateral Damage,Eraser, Sixth Day) but I can tell you THIS IS BIG!! it is also the biggest film ever shot in Brazil (The Hulk doesn’t count). It is clear the village of Mangaratiba will never be the same. they have been very gracious as we took over the town but as I said before this is the biggest thing to happen here… ever. So I will be quiet for the next 3 days to regroup and relax. It has been non-stop since we landed 8 days ago. Ciao for now.

That's just so fucking awesome. I really hope he can get Bruce to film a few scenes, even if it's just a simple cameo or something.

Too bad JCVD went all emo and doesn't want to film more action :(
