Are they releasing a new Battlefront or Battlefield this year? or are they fucking off entirely?
Hopefully not. They need to take some time and seriously evaluate where they are at as a studio and where Battlefield is in the minds of fans. I suspect those two things are at opposite ends on a spectrum.
Currently there is far more excitement surrounding Modern Warfare than any potential Battlefield sequel. It's primarily because it's looking like a pretty good game and the developers aren't hellbent on delivering social justice.
That's where DICE went wrong. They're based in Sweden, so I suppose it was inevitable at some point. But if they double down on BFV's core concepts, social justice, an incomplete game Fortnite-esque aesthetic, etc, the game will flop even harder than the previous installment. If DICE wants to make a comeback, it's very simple.
First, drop the social justice crusade. Nobody cares what some nerdy Swedish game developer has to say on social issues. We get it. You're Swedish. You're far left Marxists because you're in the entertainment industry and that shit is all the rage these days. But here's the deal. You're not in the business of saving the world or minorities or whatever, you're in the business of making video games, you stupid Swedish fucks. Save it for a vlog or something. You destroyed a multimillion dollar project over this shit. By Odin, get a fucking clue!
Second, go back to basics. Build on what Battlefield was always known and loved for. And no, I'm not talking about microtransactions or loot boxes, you dense cunts. Figure it out.
Third, drop the single player campaign. It was never needed before and it's not needed now. Plus, its obvious DICE can't do single player well, anyway. They don't have a clue. So just scrap it.
Finally, don't tell your customers not to buy your game. This should go without saying, but you all are fucking thick.
