Anyone else feel like they should get rid of this "God's Eye" hacking bullcrap ASAP? Obviously it's a very convenient way of giving the villains considerably power, but it's just so stupid, even given how ridiculous this series is. However, it looks likely Cipher will return, I just wish that next time both sides had tools that are something a bit more specific and attainable than HACK_EVERYTHING.exe.

The hacking was by far the worst part of the movie. When Ludacris and Ramsey had the backdoor hacking idea, and then when Ramsey and Cipher had the "hack-off" exchange, I literally cringed.

Nathalie Emmanuel is unbelievably gorgeous BTW.

She's no motorcyclin' isreali army ass kicking Gal Gadot though. Giselle showed up and riffed with the boys naturally without needing a focal plot point to make her fit in.

The Fate of the Furious: Screenwriter Chris Morgan talks Shaw... and Han

You joined the franchise writing the screenplay for Tokyo Drift, the movie that introduced Han. When we first met Deckard, he was killing Han. How did you guys decide to turn his character in this film?

CHRIS MORGAN: There are a couple of things I would say. We don't know his full story yet, so there are things we're going to learn that I think will be cool when it comes to light.

It sounds like you're speaking directly to the fans of Han.

CHRIS MORGAN: For sure, for sure! Sung Kang is one of my favorite people on the planet. His character, God, I love Han. I love Han! And look, there is still conversations for Deckard and the team to be having about it. There's still things we get to discover. I think that, over the journey over the next few films, I think anyone who may be having issues about that will get a satisfying resolution.

The Challenger DOM is driving during the Zombies car chase was a manual? He kept changing gear but stick layout was like an automatic.

The car was a Plymouth GTX, completely different platform than the Challenger, for one thing it's a lot bigger. The shifter looked like an automatic to me but he sure was shifting it like a manual. Chrysler has put some weird gear shifters into their cars over the years, really makes it hard to tell sometimes.

Rewatched Part 6 tonight and it just made me angry at the retcons in Part 8.

I had forgot how many people Owen Shaw straight up murdered running over them in a tank. And that he literally had an entire drug cartel under his command for years. But now we are supposed to believe he was just a bumbling brother who got blackmailed by Cipher?

Even if Han comes back alive, the family is still a bunch of despicable bullshit unless they've also known all along that Han is alive.

I mean, they weren't really down with him joining the team at all and he got bopped by Dom super early

The only thing that gives me pause is the dinner table thing, and he did just save Dom's kid

Anyways yeah it's gonna be Winter Soldier Han or Gisele, though Gisele would make more sense since there's way more wiggle room there

Who ever said he was "bumbling"? I guess we were watching different F8 movies.

Han can crawl out of the wreckage, broken and scarred.

Nobody on the crew is really squeaky clean tbh

Ramsey is a famous hacker
Roman steals cars/is a career criminal
Tej is literally a combo of both
Gisele was Mossad/military shit
Han was a conman/car thief
Dom nearly killed a dude with a wrench/was the ringleader for multiple truck heists
Letty and Mia were accomplices
Shit, Brian was the only one who could kinda get off scot-free

None of them compare to Owen though. Owen was just straight up bad news

Naw, Brian turned criminal helping Dom escape prison and subsequently helped steal millions of dollars.

I was pissed when I thought they had killed Deckard halfway through the film. Maybe it was obvious to others that he was alive, but I believed it and was so disappointed by the wasted potential.

Owen Shaw is the type of person to use the cheat code for the rhino tank and go on six star killing sprees while the rest of the crew is still doing story missions in their sports cars.

Bumbling probably isn't the best word but it seemed like they were implying that he was just a bit out of his depth and got turned by Cipher in the process and we really shouldn't hold all of that awful stuff against him. Just needed a bit of tough love from his mom or something.

Been a while since I've seen 7 so I can't recall if Deckard does anything nearly on the level of the cold blooded slaughter that Owen did but right now it feels like bullshit that Owen is out of prison and presumably everybody is cool with it. Dude is straight evil.

Let's be real, Dom is as much of a selfish villain as he was at the start of the series. He doesn't give a shit about the "family", only his own immediate family.

The whole point of 6 was to go get back Letty and Gisele died during that mission. It was a pretty much 1:1 trade for Gisele and Letty but Dom didn't give a shit. He never said a word of condolence to Han, only Brian, Mia, Tej and a Roman did, i.e everyone except Dom. At the end he was just in happy family dinner mode at his old home because let's be real, he doesn't give a shit about Han or Gisele, he only cares about himself. Let's also bring up the fact that Han and Gisele were fine just having a romantic holiday in Asia before Dom forced them back in to rescue Letty.

And now he let the man who murdered Han take his seat on the table. Like, this is the surpreme shitting on the memory of Han, the man who gave up the love of his life for Dom so Dom could have his own happy family.

I hope Han does come back and shoots Dom and says "fuck your false family" because that's what it is, a fake family relationship that Dom is using to brainwash these group of fools to sacrifice themselves for him. He don't give a shit about them.

I don't know if it's the negative publicity on Vin Diesel surrounding the movie (and that cringe worthy interview he did for XXX3 ) or just that Dom really needs Brian's character to balance him out but after 8 I would be finewith Dom exiting entirely. I like the rest of the crew but I really don't care for him at all at this point.

Hell I didn't even side with him in the opening in Havana. His cousin failed to make good on a debt but I 'm supposed to root for Dom?

Deckard murders an entire hospital full of SWAT level guys as well as some staff and walks out, warning the remaining staff that if they let Owen die, he would be back.

Then, he goes to Tokyo and presumably murders Han, while attempting to murder Dom, Brian, Mia and Jack with a bomb.

I would say THAT qualifies.

Remember Han, of course, but totally forgot about the hospital thing.

Really feels weird that they are trying to make him a good guy now.

I was pissed when I thought they had killed Deckard halfway through the film. Maybe it was obvious to others that he was alive, but I believed it and was so disappointed by the wasted potential.

I was actually thinking about The Rock's beef with one of the other male actors, and I wondered if they'd hastily written Statham out of the movie halfway through filming. You don't see his face when Dom shoots him, and you don't see a body or hear about him afterwards other than an ADR'd line to the tune of "He didn't make it" or something.

Then I remembered Dom's visit to Helen Mirren and worked out what had to be going on.

In 9 they're going to retcon all Statham's kills in the previous movies to rubber bullets and blood capsules, and show us how he actually got in touch with Han's dad beforehand and secretly squirreled Han away to an undisclosed location right before the car exploded.

Yeah it's a bit wonky but then again, the entire series started with the FBI for some reason giving a shit about a string of trucks filled with DVR players getting stolen.

Like, in my opinion, you give that shit to the LAPD and call it a day but eh.

Maybe Han and Deckard faked the death to motivate Sean for the good of the family and because Han needed to escape the Japanese mafia. It's REALLY clever.

Or it's like...Deckard pulls off a Deckard mask to reveal Han, and there's nobody in the car, or Lil' Bow Wow is in there.

Or there's an underground tunnel underneath the car and Han escaped to join an underground hacker society.

Or Han died but his soul was trapped in the car, and Dom must perform an ancient ritual to bring Han back to life.

Or Han is dead but he was evil all along and Deckard was actually protecting the family by killing him, and the house he blew up was haunted. So Deckard is 100% pure good.

The possibilities are endless.

Can someone clarify what Elena told Dom on the plane about their son's name?

I swear she said she felt he should have the name of his father, but my friends said she said the father should be the one who decides his first name.

Let's just say when he calls him Bryan, it was a record scratch moment for me cause I was under the impression he was named Dominic lol. Granted their version makes MUCH more sense in hindsight.

The guilt over Han's death aged Sean 15 years in an hour.

It's the Presidential aging on steroids.

She said she called him Marcos (middle name) but his father should give him his first name.

She gave him his middle name and called him by that name for the time being, and said the father should give him his first time.

I really want Dom's team to go back to simple no-organization for next movie
And leave the high-tech and Mr Nobody to Dwayne and Statham's team

Alright, that makes sense and that's what they said when we were talking about it. I just misheard her when it came to his first name which completely ruined that moment at the end of the film.

Man I want that Cuban dude's 56 Ford, that was a slick car. Dom's 61 Impala was also a really nice car(though it begs the question how that car was in Cuba).

The way they played that moment perfectly straight in Furious 7 was amazing. Sean's hairline recedes a full inch between two shots. He goes from highschooler to:

So....anybody else wonder why the hell Dom couldnt simply tell the team what was up other than "lol movie?"

He had a tracking device for fucks sake. The entirety of the movie could have been skipped over to the end with them having his location, and there was no reason to ever make them think he had really changed sides. He could've just told them what was up. "Yall, imma have to do some fucked up shit for a bit but i got it under control and i need you to play along. Especially you letty, we cool."

I mean obviously when you think about it, most movies fall apart, but not telling the crew seemed like a huge "doy."

Also, love how his necklace was a frikkin tracking device. Like of course it was!

And about Dom only caring about himself. Thats pretty on the nose. Risks everything to save letty and then his sister, losing two of his crew in the process, risks everything to save his son, even at the cost of betraying the rest of his "family."

I mean sure you assume he doesnt WANT his crew to die, but you know he's willing to let them if he must.

Still don't know how Dom planned the meeting and got his boys to help him out when Charlize is stalking his every move.

Glad to see the Shaws on the plane scene.
That was highlight of film as well as jail scenes

The movie didn't feel natural at all. 6 and 7 had tons of stupid shit too but this whole movie felt weird to me. Roman was horrible, majority of his stuff flat lined with my theater. Nathalie had 0 character (i'm not sure if she even did anything?), and Ludacris had the boring hacker role with no creativity to it. Dom's story is so completely stretched out they are running out of shit to make up. A random son and the mother is killed to setup the family he discussed with Letty 10 mintues ago? The NYC scene was a gigantic waste of potential. 1,000 hacked cars to stop a measly limo and handful of cop escorts? Ok..

Rock and Statham were the highlights and i'll be down for a spin off/different franchise. I know i'm shitting on it pretty good, i don't think it's THAT bad, it's just so forgettable and cheesy that i got bored. The prison chase/air plane shootout saved this movie from being a complete shit.

I'm also curious how Rock and Vin had such a huge beef when they had hardly any interactions the whole movie.

Jesus, they really topped themselves this time. A zombie car stampede is the kind of crazy shit that Watch Dogs can only dream of.

That family shield to protect Dom from the explosion

Family.

And I never really thought about it but this series is getting some pretty deep mythology. Might have to marathon the whole series before the next on lol

Since when is Ludacris/Taj a hacker?!?
I thought he was a tech?
But he is some kind of mechanic/weapon vehicle specialist/
It was definitely redundant having him and Natalie failing at hacking twice.

And I agree the Tyrese Gibson forced humour was horrible this film.

Thank goodness for Jason and The Rock though

What the hell is up with the love triangle set up at the end? Something for future movies? Because I'm pretty sure Tej and Natalie were already together.

So is the Rock potentiallynout for the next one? Or is "grandma" or some off screen character going to take his daughter and Dom's son for a weekend while they hunt down Charlize?

I like the Rock/Statham spinoff idea someone mentioned above
