Isn't that opinionated? I mean, below 50 isn't decent, like 4.9 and under would be bad and such. That would mean most critics hated it!

Rotten Tomatoes score is the percentage of critics that liked the movie (or had a favorable score). Power Rangers is a niche-as-hell series. Half of movie critics liked it, half didn't. I'm not really surprised tbh.

Reading a bunch of reviews, this movie isn't worth my time as a Sentai fan.
The real Western Power Rangers movie remains Pacific Rim.
Absolutely awful that people owning the brand let this happen instead of taking pages out of Del Toro's success.
Go watch/rewatch that instead of giving Lionsgate hacks your money.
Hopefully the sequel turns out to be good as well.
I think I'm seeing it mostly because I want them to make a sequel. And curiosity. But I know origin stories are boring, so I always expected the first one to be bad. Some of the shots I've seen from the various trailers excite me as a PR and general Toku fan, but I'm comfortable knowing that's a small portion of the movie. Godzilla 2014 was fine for me despite the exact same reason also hurting it for me.

I'm surprised the score is so high to be honest, not a lot of people would admit to liking Power Rangers even when the brand was in it's prime.

Yeah I know that about rotten tomatoes, and so far the movie is rotten. We'll see what happens later though.

Yeah, I can see those who thought it would score lower.

Pacific Rim was shit though.

Good man. As fun as the concept of it was we had to sit through some garbage between the fights

Shitty leads, corny humor that wasn't funny at all (and I love Charlie Day and Ron Perlman). The movie does not hold up

Del Toro one of those dudes with an amazing past in horror films and also excellent taste in genre work so I'm always gonna like him but his English movies havent been much good. Hoping shape of water is an exception for once

Nah. Crimson Peak, Hellboy, Hellboy 2, and Blade 2 are all fantastic.

Pacific Rim's alright too.

I am not going to give a hoot about review scores for a damn Power Rangers film, as long as i know there are giant robots and cool action scenes i am in 100%.

How is Blade 2 fantastic but PR is alright

Blade 2 is not as good as Blade

In my personal opinion Blade 2 is better than the first. Nomak is much of a physical threat, and the film like any good sequel continues Blade's story well if only Trinity didn't shit on everything of course.

Pacific Rim was decent.

I hope the action scenes are cool at least going by the time when the action scenes even happen.

EDIT: 46% now.

I finished Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (1995) and Turbo Power Rangers (1997) (first time watching it), so I'm ready for the new movie in 12 hours!

Yea Power Rangers was never gonna get glowing reviews. Mixed is about as good as it was gonna get. Its already better than most thought it would be.

His Hellboys are all right, but it's really kinda strange how ridiculously far ahead in quality Pan's Labyrinth is to the rest of his filmography.

I was expecting this to be 15% on RT bad.

It reviewed beyond my expectations.

Same, but I've still never seen a film below 50% RT that I didn't regret seeing after it was over.

Last one was Independence Day 2, which I think is mid-30's RT. Not only did I have to fast forward through some parts, but by the end I was pissed off with myself for having spent the time on such a god awful piece of shit film.

Box office estimates are around 30 - 35 million. So.. I doubt it will do well.

But I'm probably going to see this tomorrow night so.. we will find out

Movie is better than Rim, which isn't saying much.

The fuck is this nonsense?

Outside of some ok casting of the kids, the new Power Rangers movie is mediocrity defined. It is a hodgepodge of ideas from the 5+ writers and it got incredibly boring once the kids morphed.

It's coming in Beauty and the Beast's second weekend, it was always going to have a tepid debut. It just needs to have legs.

I watched this yesterday. I enjoyed it, but it's not a good movie by any means. This is coming from Power Rangers/Tokusatsu fan.

Somewhere in the 40% range. About what I predicted

To be honest I was hoping to be surprised like Deadpool because an awesome movie with this concept would've been great

At least this movie gave us this picture.

I've never quite managed to find out why the hell happened between them.

According to Youtube videos I've watched about the topic, JDF feels ASJ was a cocky story-teller back in the MMPR days. I think ASJ has acknowledged there may be a point to that. Beyond that, I don't know. Has JDF really carried a grudge all these years because he felt ASJ was conceited back when he was 19? I have seen ASJ in interviews saying he doesn't want bad blood and they are all on the same team

Has anyone been able to find anything from the soundtrack that sound remotely like the power rangers theme?

All the ones I've found have been generic instrumentals.

Was at the movie premiere in LA. Invited to be on the red carpet (or black carpet as it was). Met some of the cast and older Rangers, so it was a cool experience. After party was fun too.

On the subject of the movie, I really liked it. I can see a few things that some people may not like, but overall it was great and makes you really care for the characters.
