The G930 Headset: A Logitech Horror Story

Honestly I'm not sure where I should start with this tale of frustration and vexation, so I will start from the beginning. I purchased the Logitech G930 wireless gaming headset from Newegg while it was on sale. For 4 or 5 months the headset worked magnificently, but one day to my horror the housing for the left ear cup's pivot joint basically crumbled, so I RMA'd it with Logitech and got a replacement.

I got the replacement headset pretty quickly and immediately started using it. A couple weeks after getting it the replacement headset started making this horrible buzzing and screeching noise and shutting off on its own even when plugged in. So I wrote Logitech about it and once again RMA'd it. This time however, I waited and waited and the headset never came, so I got in touch with them and started making a pest of myself in the nicest way possible. It ended up taking them almost a whole month to get me another replacement shipped out. So I finally got the replacement and I quickly discovered that this replacement has the same damn issue as the one I just sent in! Right now I'm fuming and I'm not even sure I want to do another replacement with these clowns. Is there any possible way I could...I don't know....get a refund of my money from Logitech so I can go buy a Sennheiser headset like I should have all along? Help me out here GAF!

Have you made any hardware changes to your machine?

The annoying screeching sound sounds like interference from something inside of your PC, both of my computers do this with headphones plugged in the front.

I have made absolutely no changes to my machine. This issue occurs about once every day and it screeches and buzzes for about 2 to 3 minutes before having a seizure and shutting off. It takes about 6 or 7 tries to get the headset to turn back on.

RMA again and ask if you can get a refund since it has happened 3 times now. Incredibly bad luck

Yep, I had the same issue plugging it into the front ports. Works fine plugged in at the back for me now. Since I made a new PC it has been flawless.

When the screeching happens have you tried wiggling the cable or just unplugging and plugging back in?

Sounds very weird!

It's incredibly frustrating, I use my headset purely for skype and the interference is sometimes so bad I can't keep it on for too long :(

I have actually tried everything, including plugging it into the USB ports on my G19 keyboard. My PC does not have any front USB ports. The perplexing issue of it all is that its almost like the battery isn't charging when its plugged in.

Could be an issue with the USB hub charger? Have you been getting a new one along with the headphones?

Hmm that's weird, I have one, my bro has one and my GF has one and no problems at all.

What shitty luck :(

Its absolutely killing me, especially since Diablo 3 has released (not that I can play it anyways, THANKS BLIZZARD!) and I need a good reliable headset. I'm probably having a terrible run of luck, but the way Logitech handled the last RMA left a bad taste in my mouth.

Get a refund and find something new, logitech's support is terrible

Could be your PC.

Not sure why, but my speakers screech and buzz every time I get a text message or a call on my cellphone. This happens with all of my speakers, headphones included, so I imagine it is happening because of my PC.

It didn't happen with my first headset from them. It was the same kind of headset I'm now having relentless problems with.

Edit: I just demanded a refund from them. I will let you guys know how that goes.

I had the exact same issue with the G35 which is the headset they released before this one.

Sell it and get a new one, you will never get it fixed or get Logitech to admit their fault. I will never buy a headset from them ever again.

edit: LOL, I just saw your last post. I have a PC350 now and it's a dream come true. I think I will be going for a PC360 soon though, the plastic covering the ear pads has been peeling off for a while, just a little, and I am OCD about that. With the Logitech G35, all of the fucking padding peeled off.

That sucks, I just got a 930 and I've been really liking it.

It sounds like it could be some wireless interference, you may need a wired set for you situation.

I would like to think its simply wireless interference, but as godhandiscen mentioned its also an issue with its wired brother, the G35. I think this is the result of shitty design and shitty parts used by Logitech.
