The GAMES OF SUMMER 2006 (US) Thread

it's the type of idea that only SEGA could think up, really. The Monkeyball concept is perfect for exactly what it does, not some lame adventure game with a lame story and lame levels.

I think the Ape Escape games are worse and more derivative/cynically produced.

Ape Escape, as a concept, has remained generally the same - nobody ****ed with the formula. Until Ape Escape Academy, and that game sucked and everyone said so.

For what its worth, Harvest Moon DS is pretty good if you like the recent versions of the game. Fans of the series who enjoyed anything past the 64 bit games will probably really like it.

I just forwarded this post to tim@doublefine.com
:lol I bet he loves you.

I hope Prey will turn out to be a great game. The concept + the engine can yield some amazing level designs and scenarios. Gravity wells + portals could create some absolutely brilliant multiplayer matches too. Unfortunately the multiplayer test at E3 was pretty shitty. The level had no creative use of portals whatsoever and the weapons were boring, hopefully they showed off their worst at the show for shits and giggles.

Is Mother 3 getting released this summer?

Then nobody cares about GBA.

It's not like Mother 3 is the ONLY game worthwhile left to come out on Gameboy Advance stateside.... well not that their's much more besides that but still.

I wouldn't be suprised if Nintendo was in the middle of translating it right now getting it ready for a christmas release and is saving the annoucment as a pleasent suprise. Or at least that's what I hope they are doing anyhow.

Sigh offtopic but is their any way I can lose my title and become a normal member again?

GBA is a husk of a system at this point; all that is left is FFVI and FFV port. If they bring Mother 3, then it will be for the love of the game! :(

re: titles - i have no power over titles

The developers have stated that singleplayer is their focus, so I wouldn't expect too much from the multiplayer when it ships. Hello, microtransactions!

When do Rouge Galaxy and/or Tales of the Abyss come out in the US?

Rogue Galaxy is out in fall i think early fall and Tales of the Abyss has no real date, yet i wouldn't be surprised if they delay it for next year. The IGN date says December.

Because I refuse to admit GBA is dead:

Summon Night: Swordcraft Story - July 18
Combine dungeon crawling with weapon crafting and a unique side view battle system that focuses on attacking, defending, and making sure your weapon doesn't break, and you have Summon Night: Swordcraft Story.

Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation - July 25
I have no idea what this is honestly, but it's from Atlus and has customizable mechs, so it must be good! ;)

VeggieTales: Larry Boy and the Bad Apple - August 1
I don't care if it will probably be terrible, I love the way this game looks. The little veggie sprites are just awesome. It actually looks like a Crazy Castle clone of some sort.

Megaman Battle Network 6 - June (released)
Huh.. there's a sixth now? Somebody must care. Especially when it has a walrus in it.
