The GiantBomb Quick Look Thread

I genuinely like how they seemingly had no idea what hind of enemies they wanted so they just said "Fuck it! I want Nazis AND Communists. And mutants and aliens and some ghosts. NOW GET TO WORK!"

I might check that game out.

I haven't read the novel, but I'm pretty sure the developers didn't make the choice of enemies.

A) Yay irony.

B) I imagine that's supposed to be Chinese and not Japanese because K&L2 is set in Shanghai... but I can't for the life of me understand what "fu tian" is supposed to mean.

They probably threw a word into babelfish and copied the translation.:lol

I just started watching it, and I know Jeff is going to lose this boss battle, since he's already made two mistakes:
1) He took a long route to get to Ropesk, which means that his crew's morale will be low, and his command gauge will fill slowly. The correct thing to do before a boss battle is to stop at a planet that's directly connected to your destination, to "recharge" the morale.
2) He's starting off by rushing into battle and attacking the boss' main ship that's in the middle row. You are supposed to destroy his front-row escort ships first, to force the main ship into the front.

It's weird because he knew to select the front ship the second time he tried to play the game.

I didn't know about the moral thing. No wonder my gauge has been so slow sometimes. :lol

I can see why it's easy to overlook (Even I made the same mistake with the first boss), as it's not a labeled gauge. Crew Fatigue is that thermometer-like gauge shown on the left side of the top screen during space travel. As you travel, it starts to fill up with red, and when the red reaches a certain point, the fatigue will start to affect the command gauge. In order to "reset" the fatigue gauge, you need to stop at a planet with a spaceport.

Of course, it is possible to slow the increase of the fatigue gauge, allowing you to undertake a longer journey. I believe the crew fields of Leadership, Management, and/or Medicine affect fatigue.

Wow, I'd never heard of Infinite Space before. Looks like it could be cool. The only thing that's kind of worrisome is that it looks like the battles can get pretty long, which is an issue for portable games sometimes.

Though I still contend that it's twenty damned ten, we should be beyond portraits fading in and out for talking. Even if they were on opposite sides of the screen, something instead of popping up right on top of the previous speaker's face.

These seem like the kind of mistakes you would make having not spent much time with the game, it's between IS and Pokemon for me, hopefully this QL can help me decide.

I put this on my to-watch list and forgot about it. I looked it up again because of the box art in the upcoming releases thread and I was like, "Oh! That game."

too bad it got delayed two weeks.

My Delicious bookmark of the game is from Dec 22nd 2008 so I've been waiting almost a year and a half, I guess. This is the original description I wrote:

Hyperkinetic platformer / territorial battle starring Gir-like robots, with trippy Tetrisphere/Rez inspired visuals.

Plain Sight looks interesting for sure. Will pick it up on Steam considering the low price. Hopefully there will be enough people buying it so there's a good amount of servers and players.

Ahhh, I never noticed that. Figures.

You just stripped all my interest in the game with these unnecessary "you must do this before you can do this" mechanics. That was a quick one.

Plain sight looked pretty darn cool when they finally got around to explaining the mechanics. Had zero interest going in. Reminded me of Warcraft 3 Counter-Strike with swords & robots :lol

God, I hope Vinny and Jeff do it again. They were such an awesome combo before. If not both then at least Vinny, his laugh always makes me laugh.

Vinny is the man to have on all the videos

Vinny x Jeff and Vinny x Dave are my two favorite combos

No, no, no. It's a horror game! Brad is the essential one. Actually, Brad and Ryan might be the best combo here. See their Shattered Memories freak out.

but then who will cast Bufu on things?!?!?!?!

i fucking love brad, but i wouldn't want him anywhere near an endurance run

i wouldn't exactly say that he's bad at games in general, but he seems to have some difficulty playing while talking at the same time.

also, from what i've heard about deadly premonition so far, Vinny definitely needs to be on.

God damn PAL region. No Deadly Premonition for us :(. But the only thing better than playing the game is watching the game being played by the giant bomb guys :D. Please do a an ER on this PLEEEEAAASE .

If you have a PS3, you can import it from Japan... It's called Red Seeds Profile there, but it's in english and everything

I'm not sure i would like to play through it myself, but if i'm entertained enough by the endurance run, i will get it for sure

$70+ to import? no fucking thanks :lol . I want to play it. It's $20 in the US, which is exactly the amount of money I'm welling to spend on a broken and a hilariously bad game.

Oh damn Brad started over just because cut scenes had compression?! Maybe I should get it for PS3 then.... but achievements....

also who says they are going to do an endurance run? I just guess a quicklook right?

It's been hinted at here and there, and the quick look was supposed to appear a couple of weeks ago. And they are never THAT late with videos.

also, can't wait to hear Brad's thoughs on final fantasy in the bombcast this week
