Yeah I laughed when IGN said it looked like a ps3/360 game in their video review but some of that stuff wasn't half bad actually :) Especially when they rode on top of that truck. Pretty wild.

Just watched the monster hunter tri QL and, while they didn't really know what the fuck was up, it looked really cool actually. I've never really played MH, but I did get a demo with DMC3 (PAL) although the PS2 game seemed more geared towards online play.

Is MH3 designed to be enjoyed offline/solo? The stuff in the QL looked doable for a one man fighting machine, but maybe you're supposed to roll with some ranged people to stagger it as it tries to flee?

bit on top of the truck is a pre-rendered cinematic. but apart from that it looks alright :-)

I can’t believe I watched 90 minutes of SSF4. I don’t even play street fighter. :lol

goes to show just how much an effect having these guys commenting on the games will have on me. I’m such a damn sucker for these quicklooks.

About jetpack action: When the
machine gun
(comes later) is on Level 3, you can shoot down to use it as a jetpack.

Yeah, but if you trade for the
machine gun
, you'll miss out on the strongest weapon in the game later.

Like how there's two different
jetpacks
, and you can pass on the first version for a while so you can eventually get the far superior version later.

Yeah, the game has a few possible crossroads, so I'd recommend playing through it at least twice and deciding some stuff differently.

I know Jeff is a man who has spent an absurd amount of money on many absurd video game related purchases...but 90 dollars on game room games is. Well. Yeah.

It makes the Star Trek Online lifetime subscription look damned sensible in comparison.

how is Jeff game room? i don't think they got a pre-release because he was complaining about not getting to play it before he left.

They must pay him a lot of money for his giantbomb.com work, he pretty much buys everything :lol

How does giantbomb even make money anyway?

Well, they have ads on the site now. Banners and preroll video ads.

They also used to have a page up where there was pricing options for game developers/publishers to sponsor Quicklooks and Podcasts. If you see a Quick Look EX, it was most likely sponsored. The same goes for any non-tuesday podcast that features a chat with a developer about one specific game.

To be honest, I'm not entirely, 100% sure that all Quick Look EXes are sponsored. But you watch a Quick Look EX for something like, I dunno, Fairy Tale Fights or whatever, and that was a disaster. The only way something like that could have gone that poorly and gotten posted is if it was paid for.

That's a rare example, though. I don't see Quick Look EXes as anything bad, because the fundamental function of a Quick Look still stands regardless of whether or not a developer paid for it to take place.
