Although I usually like Mario sports stuff in the past, all 4 of the games in sports mix look really half-assed. It's not like, "oh this is kind of loose but it'd make a great party game" but rather "this looks boring for all who are involved in playing it."

It's too bad the game isn't downloadable. A disc based trivia game seems kind of strange these days.

I thought the same. I am still totally interested in getting it. I just don't know if I should import the US version or wait for a European release which will maybe have less American pop culture stuff in it.

The gang from Basketball, a slime, and the game's sole bossfight is a Behemoth.

S-E developed it according to Wikipedia.

oh, i see, thanks guys.

edit: just got up to a point in the QL with a Chocobo theme song/stage. the S-E appearances are so random.

Was interested until I got to this. I'll pick it up if/when it goes on sale on PSN.

trying out the subscriber feature for a month and the theater video setting alone justifies the price. being able to run the quicklooks in a playlist automatically and without flash on my htpc makes for fun background noise while i'm working.

They did that Basketball game too

I wonder the story behind that.. did nintendo say "Hey, we need someone to develop a basketball game.. I KNOW LET'S GET THE FINAL FANTASY PEOPLE I AM A GENIUS"

Mario Sports looks lame, still, it's going to sell disgusting amounts I imagine, it looks like a megahit.

Yar's Revenge looks kind of cool, I wish I knew anything about anime though.

I don't know how anyone can talk seriously about bringing back the Yars' Revenge franchise with an anime artstyle in 2011.

I don't care because the original Yars Revenge has no artstyle. Seriously, it reminds me of the the glitch levels from Super Meat Boy, i.e. like a corrupt rom file or something.

I don't mind nostalgia, but WTF is this shit:

Bringing it back with an anime style in a rail shooter. You know, like gamers love so much in 2011. Unlike HD remixes of classic style games, those are never successful or well received. Not like the classic rail shooter that everybody loves!

anyone noticed the S-E trademarks in the title screen? i wonder what S-E characters are in the game?

btw, these Mario games are so mediocre but i'll bet it'll sell loads anyway.
i dont think mario sports mix is a particularly good game

but mario sports games in general have been very high quality

mario tennis and mario golf in particular are top notch games. (id say mario power tennis on GC is the best mario game on GC)

and you have a white mage, a black mage, a moogle, a ninja, a cactor and a slime as hidden characters afaik

preach on bro

I love rail shooters, wish they'd make more of 'em and go all out. So many of them are just walking down hallways like a normal game when really you can do anything since it's on rails. Really under-appreciated genre. Sin & Punishment 2 was amazing. If this new Yars Revenge comes close to that, I'll definitely play it, but I have my doubts. Treasure is hard to compete with.

Wait, he's called our office? We're doing what now?
Industrial Light and Magic was trying to poach Vinny for his sweet special effect skills and Ryan was giving the recruiter an earful. You should be ashamed.

I'll pass it along the next time I mail them then!

Please tell me that's a permanent feature now. That could lead to some great and/or terrible moments.
Oh wait, you mean I Love Mondays. Never mind.

There really needs to be a different acronym for that one. :P

I was unaware of the ambiguity. And I thought you were just be smarmy. Haha.
I guess it's all context. As this is the QL thread, I didn't even bother to think of it. If this was the general GB thread I likely would have got it right away.

Seems like theres a lot of Mass Effect 2 influence in DAII. Named main character, much more action based combat, conversation wheel. Keeping the real inventory and skill trees makes me happy though.

Needs more "pull right trigger to kick dude out of window"

Skill tree, armor customization looked fine.

combat is about what I expected from the console version. the cave they were in looked OK but not particularly impressive. lighting was interesting but geometry was super simple.

I am super happy that there's a voiced PC in the game. The mute, dead eyed PC in Dragon Age took me out of the game more than anything else. But I need to see more variety in the dialog options in that conversation wheel. right now, it looks like the same, tired "saint" or "asshole" options.

Seeing it now, it reminds me a lot of FFXII. I think I'm more accustom to seeing Western RPGs like this from a much higher camera position, and being designed for keyboard/mouse play, seeing it directly behind and all real-time like this really makes me see the FFXII parallels.

The in-game UI looks horrible and uninspired. I hope to see some mods for that soon. Other than that, the game seems alright. I loved to death the first DA, but I don't know if I'll buy this one day 1.

wow. DA2 looks awesome. I'm amazed at how similar some aspects of it are to Origins...certainly dispels fear of it not being an rpg. The combat looks significantly better. Mass Effect dialogue system is the best in the biz imo, glad it's being used in this. super hyped now.
