Oh god. Commentary/stuffs by Pokecapn and medibot and those guys?
Can I just buy the game and get all that stuff? I don't want to buy a kinect just for this game :(
This is why Youtube was invented.

Watching the Gunstringer QL frankly just continues to cement in my mind how worthless the Kinect is as a gaming device. The game that seems to have the most core hype around it looks good, for a Kinect game. If this was a regular controller-based game nobody would give it a look.

I got a little excited when he said it was a core Kinect game and didn't make you look stupid

and then the game started and it's just a shit as everything else.

I don't know, I like how The Gunstringer is looking. It seems like a pretty simple game, but after playing the demo I was fully convinced to buy it because it's just fun and seems to work well with the controls. I also like the silly style and heavy use of FMV that Twisted Pixel is known for, which this seems to have plenty of.

Gunstringer has Xbox-level graphics and there's something jarring about it that keeps the various elements from forming a cohesive art style.

A Panzer Dragoon/Rez style lock-on third person shooter with some platforming by Twisted Pixel? I think that would be getting a fair amount of attention no matter what.

It doesn't hurt that it works well and it works sitting down.

On rails. Not surprised.

The art style is so inconsistent as well. Some things look stylized, some look really, really cheap and bad.

EX Quick Looks are annoying when the game doesn't look the greatest. The 3rd Strike one was really good but I'd rather have the crew say if the game is as dull as it looks than the typical PR stuff.

Maybe they didn't think it was that dull looking? I thought it looked okay. It's one of the few Kinect games that looks interesting to me. The parts where he was meleeing looked dumb, but the actual shooting seemed fine. I guess we need to bash everything that's not Harmonix though.

There is hype? I thought everyone hates this game for obvious reasons.

"Everyone" knew exactly what this would be: a game with some basic mechanics that is less than satisfying but still mostly playable, washed down with some FMV hilarity and fun themes.

You know. It's a Twisted Pixel game.

I meant the Kienct part. The demo is OK I thought, but not really worth full Kinect game price to be honest

I think if anything, people were making this out to be the Kinect's golden egg, alongside stuff like Steel Battalion and Suda's game, but obviously like you say, full price doesn't do them any favours in that regard :lol

EDIT: Like StuBurns, I've only really seen this game on GB- I don't think I've seen more than one GAF thread about it- so I wouldn't trust my perceptions too much

Maybe it's just hype from GiantBomb actually, I never go on Kinect threads, so I don't know if GAF care.
It really wasn't hyped, even here. However, it's one of those titles that were always mentioned in defense when people trolled the device for not having any "core" games.

The original Splosion Man had very little FMV and got a 4/5

Subscriber only, how lovely.
haha no wonder they make a point of saying it's not a quicklook. hi2u loophole.

I hope they really do make this its own series of looking at classic PC games though. Both this Daggerfall vid and the Deus Ex vid are awesome.

People's advice to them must have been terrible. There's no shame in running in Daggerfall. You can run through the first dungeon, not fight anyone and still get a level from raising your running skill. Then you start farming graveyards for cash until you get to a town, and that's where you really start.

Surprised to see the GunStringer had platforming, had only seen brief clips of it before this quicklook. I wonder if it ever get's hardcore, or if they had to reign it in so the Kinect could keep up. Looks better than I thought it would, one of the cooler Kinect titles I've seen. Unfortunately that's not exactly very high praise.

It isn't full price though.

It's a fun game, I liked the demo. I'll probably pick it up.

Finally watched the Word Fighter QL and...I skipped about half it. It looks boring as hell.

I love the concept, but the execution seems severely lacking.

I had imagined in my mind the puzzle fighter antics that would ensue, but all the "fighters" do is stand there until the words come flying out, one canned animation after the other. BOOORING!

Edgar should be throwing Raven's a t people and Jane should be blasting sun beams out of her parasol.

Holy Christ, LIVEN IT UP! Probably doesn't help that Will and Brad sucked at this game.

They're clearly big Twisted Pixel fans, so that's probably where it comes from. I have no doubt they will be fair with the review when the time is necessary though.

Comic Jumper and Ms. Splosion Man didn't get a lot of love from Jeff and Brad. They've actually been pretty vocal about their dislike for Twisted Pixels game design and how they think they should just focus on producing weird movies instead of doing games.

I thought Brad liked Ms Splosion Man, he said it had issues but it was still worth playing.

Gunstringer looks ok and it also comes with Fruit Ninja so I might pick it up down the road.

Ouch I have not seen these games in a while but I feel lied to. Graphics are not where I expected them to be. Also they should have skipped this QL if they did not know how to play this series.
That's a point they bring up in the Quick Look. This game is made for only the most die-hard Football fans. This quicklook was good for people like me who may enjoy Football but have no idea of how to make good play decisions. I now know that this game is not for me since it includes no features that would help me get into the game.

The most annoying thing about The Gunstringer is that the only reason it doesn't have traditional controls is businesses being businesses. It's a consumer unfriendly move, and will make the game sell less than it would otherwise.

The whole game is pretty much just those running forward sections from Comic Jumper and those worked fine with the controller. I mean they were kinda boring and shitty, but the controls weren't the reason why.

Huh. I thought Gunstringer looked fun and it looks like it controlled well. Definitely not enough for me to even think about buying a Kinect though.

For starters, the character animation doesn't really matter because your attention should never be on it; finding words is way more attention-dependent than "hey what color is this?" Second of all, I think it's fair to forgive Brad for not being amazing at a word-search game while he's talking to someone. It would be pretty atypical if he could use that part of his brain to hold a conversation and process what's going on in the game, too. Third, the team who made Puzzle Fighter probably had more people and money than the guys making this game so it's not going to have the same level of production values. The word part alone needs to be good enough to be the hook. I'm not saying whether it is or not, but it's obvious to me why the animation is the simplest part.

I don't see at all how Kinect controls make this game better than it would be with a controller. Other than fast cursor movement, obviously. But no one would argue that fast pointer controls make this game better than Rez or Panzer Dragoon, would they?

Though I did not look at one piece of media from it, I had no idea Dead Island was an open world RPG type of game. Interesting...

Just FYI, No one from New Orleans calls it Nawlins.

Except Frank Davis, and he's selling cookbooks.

I love the PC's shadow. There's no animation in the upper body at all, only the legs seem to be moving.
