Damn I want BloodRayne Betrayal so bad after watching that QL. I was really bummed to find out it's not available until next week. I thought I knew how I was going to spend my 3-day weekend.

Hate the look of this game, the poorly colored characters. The half heartedly executed collage style, super flat, motion tween thing it has going on. Just looks busted. Like some sort of shitty random xbox live indie game some dude made in an afternoon. With jumping control so void of natural forward momentum, that it's almost as if Ryan was dragging around a Serious Sam mouse cursor through the game while jumping.

Gun stacking looks pretty cool, a nice over the top concept I can appreciate. But it's my first time seeing or hearing this game, and it's making a really bad first impression.

Learn to fun bro, it's an $8 game.

Who thought burnout crash was a good idea? Game doesn't look fun, has bad graphics, and didn't demo well (kinect... why???). The really drunk dude doing the demo didn't help anything either.

It will likely come to iOS, and it will probably do well on there for them on there. It seems like a perfect fit for that platform

The more I see it, the more I think it was born on iOS and moved to PSN/360 later on. I know Criterion tell a different origin story though, but this game screams iOS to me. I'd happily buy it for £4 on that platform

Mommy's Best Games is totally an Xbox Live Indie developer. One of the first to really make a game worth playing, actually.

http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/Weapon-of-Choice/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d80258550102

Infact, Serious Sam DD is probably built on the Weapon of Choice tech.

But yeah, a lot of their games are cool. Shoot1UP is probably one of the best XBL Indie Games, and that was Mommy's Best Games.

edit: Oh man, Rock of Ages looks pretty sweet too. Too bad it's only on 360 so far, I don't have one. :/

It's coming to PSN too right? Can't find a release date though...

Just watched that ICO/SotC Quick Look... I don't care if he sucks in the privacy of his own home, but he really made SotC look bad to anyone watching who didn't know better. The first colossus is such a cool moment in the game; totally ruined =[

They should make a Game Center CX US edition starring Brad. I would watch.

I have no idea what I just read. It's an indy game for 8 bucks and it looks totally rad and over the top. And I hate it when people seem to think games are being made over night just because it has a certain artstyle or mechanics.

Also not a fan of the games look. Games seems crazy and fun though and the gun stacking thing is hilarious.

Well, in all fairness, it'd be nice if next time you wait until you do actually have an idea of what I said, because it wasn't that. I was clearly comparing the art style to something you'd see in a rushed xbox alive indie game, not trying to assert the game was actually made in an afternoon, come on.

I'd hate

to see how you react when someone uses legit hyperbole. Like when people say "this game is unplayable" or something

Dude, those "Weapon of Choice" screen-shots look exactly like Serious Sam:DD lol. And yeah, all the art for those games looks really busted too. Shoot1UP, looks to have a cool distinguishing game-play mechanic, extra lives adding to your fleet and such. It's a shame that the giant robot lady with cannon boobs, who likes like she's been shaded exclusively with the dodge and burn tool comes along to ruin the party.

I mean so far all of their games, that I've seen, look to be pretty fun. The art is like a dodge & burn nightmare.

Look at this screen of "grapple buggy" all of the rock formations in the background look to be some odd combination of muscle tissue and/or feces.

I have no idea how you identify "rushed xbox alive indie game" art style. And if you really start to complain about games form an indy dev that are based on the same tech, then I have to say that this conversation is starting to get ridiculous.

that's his trademark style, either you love it or hate it. his games have some really unique elements to them if you can stomach the art. Fortunately for me I've learned to appreciate it, I've purchased all of their games and am kinda pissed SS isn't on XBL.

If I remember correctly the lead guy previously worked on Resistance (in the weapons department).

If you honestly have no idea how I'd describe it, then you really haven't been reading my posts, cause it's almost all I've been doing.

In the first post alone, I describe it. As far as complaining about games using the same tech, I never did that.

You can describe at as much as you want (and you already did several times), but I still think you are way too critical and overanalyzing this indy game.

In the last post you were saying you couldn't figure out what I meant, so I quoted all the times I explained what I meant. Now I explain myself too much.

I've never played these games, and nearly everything I've said, from what I've seen in regards to the game-play, has been positive. Maybe, you skipped over those lines, but I don't feel like quoting them all this time.

If you think I'm being too critical, I'm fine with that. Though it seems your definition of over-analysis is just describing something at all.

I really don't understand why you keep mentioning its indie game status as an excuse for the poor art, though. Tons of indie games have fantastic artwork.

You take what you can get, man. These guys don't have huge budgets to afford expensive artists, so they have to rely on themselves or the people they know. And, on the other hand, that kind of visual style is starting to define the company. It's their "look". It may not be the most polished art in the world, but it's unique to them and they "own" it.

That guy. I'm pretty sure Mommy's Best Games is just one dude. Or it least it was. Not saying it's an excuse for bad art, but it's pretty impressive what he's able to pull off.

It'd actually be easier to employ a tasteful cell shaded style than to go several passes over everything with the dodge & burn tool. You certainly don't need to afford expensive artists or whatever. There are so many communities on the internet devoted to game creation, with people helping each other out providing art and music just for the experience. I'm not buying that somehow because they're a small team that this is the only way. Having bad artwork define your company isn't a good thing.

Somehow all these other people found a way around it. Small indie teams, all of them, some 1 person or 3 people. Managing to produce games that look fantastic.

Madden has been such a joke the last few years, sounds worse/plays worse/less features than even their ps2 efforts.

I found what Jeff/Patrick said about their childhoods much more interesting than anything about Madden that I've seen or played.

I know, I was literally jumping up and down with anticipation of my first glimpse of this new "Madden Football" game, my mortal imagination unable to even begin to conceive of its wonders.

It's hard for me to believe how poorly Madden has aged graphically in this day and age. Have they just tacked on to the PS2 animation system?

I don't follow Madden, so I was surprised at how bad it looked. Terrible lighting, splotchy textures, bad framerate... looks like a rough alpha of a game.

Hoo, yeah. Gunstringer doesn't look so hot. Weird framerate hiccups for how... basic the visuals look sometimes. Not really seeing what Kinect brings to the table here, either. I'm sure maybe it makes aiming a little easier but it's the kind of game that could probably still work on a controller, too.

Hearing the Twisted Pixel guy talk about Pokecapn, Medibot, etc. is super weird, too. I don't know how I feel about that.
