I don't have a pixelation issue... sounds like a problem with your browser maybe. I do agree that the default window size is too small, I guess most people run a pretty small native resolution? Running at 1920x1200 here and the thing isn't even a quarter of my screen. Do people really watch these in non-full screen mode? I'd find it hard to get anything out of most of them.

Looks like ass in fullscreen at that resolution. I use FF 3.5.5.

I never run my browser fullscreen. The video resolution is perfect to keep it running on the background when doing something else (like browsing the gaf).

I loved the ending. :lol

I honestly have no idea what you guys are talking about. Running Mac OS 10.6.2 with Safari 4.0.4. Just checked it on FF 3.5.5 and it appears fine on there too. I tried outputting it to my secondary monitor (Toshiba 40" 1080p LCD) and while the native resolution on there isn't as good as my monitor, it still looks fine. I see minor jaggies, and on some videos its more noticeable than others, but nothing that's detracting hugely from my viewing experience. The way you guys are describing it, sounds like its something pretty serious.

Yeah... I've got my TV set up right next to my desk, so I can have the stuff I'm working on right in front of me and things like GiantBomb/GameTrailers/Hulu or w/e up on the secondary display to my left.

Just Dance looks like it would be a pretty good workout with Natal. A full-body camera sensor would pick up people's dances and work much better then a wii-mote.

that is exactly how the full screen stuff looks to me on my Mac 10.6.2 with Safari 4.0.4. I think Virro just has lower standards :D

I don’t put GB videos fullscreen unless I’m sitting at least 4 feet away from the screen. Their resolution is not that hot.

Yeah, I guess mine is about the same then judging by that screenshot. But I would imagine the picture clarity is an issue of compression on their end and not how its being displayed on all of our ends. I guess I just don't mind it as much as you guys do... Of course I'd prefer better quality in the end, but you gotta give up something to keep it easy to view for most people.

Haha, well that might be it... I'm sitting about 5 feet away from my TV. I mean... its not HD, but it could be a lot worse. I tried loading up the Pixeljunk Shooter QL and switching it between the TV and my monitor and I did start to notice the pixelation a lot more. Come to think of it, I do remember the ARMA II QL looking like ass with a ton of jaggies on simple things. For all the hype it got on GAF with the texture work, the video sure made it look terrible.

Once you see it...:lol

I always though that's just a "filter/smooth" option need to be turned on in adobe flash video, since it's the adobe plug-in doing all the work. Is it not? I think the resolution and compression are both fine, just need to be filtered when it goes fullscreen.

Hmm, good point, I'll do some digging and see if I can find a solution. I still tend to think its on their end though.

I finished Cryostasis 2 months ago. I think it's the only game that made me think my computer was about to explode from overworking. It's definitely unique. Great atmosphere, great experience.

It feels very slow though, sometimes too slow.

omg i nearly heart attack :lol

looks interesting. kind of reminds me of 'cold fear'.

Its a really great game, sort of like BioShock. It is slow paced, but that works well for the scares, i shit myself plenty of times :lol Sadly overlooked game of 2009 :(

Does have some major sucky performance though......

After watching the video, I really have to say that while the game isn't easy, he made it look way harder than it actually is. If you know how to aim it's much easier.

I believe it runs way better on nVidia cards too. The game runs like shit on an ATI 4870.

And people bitch about the movement speed in Halo games...

Game looks really interesting though. Loved Dave's reaction when Ryan screamed "MONSTER!" :lol

Gerstmann just tweeted that they are down to the final 2 for their GOTY podcast. I'm guessing its between Uncharted 2 and Modern Warfare 2, and MW2 will win.

The story does make sense, it's more like a Silent Hill story where you have to connect the dots yourself.

They could have probably shown a more interesting part though.

Somehow I doubt MW2 will win at GB. They're better than that. I'd say its probably between UC2 and DA.

I kind of feel they've been leaning towards Batman lately, so I was thinking UC2 and Batman. Anyhow they seem to have decided.

Ugh GOTY discussions. So pointless. Everyone has played those top 5 games anyway and they've been talked to death already.

At least giantbomb will likely have some more specific categories like best story in a game or most underrated game and such. Things that are actually worth discussing.

I think the fact Batman has no multiplayer or co-op mode like MW2 and UC2 probably means it won't win.

Not even the Spike VGA's, the most commercial, vacuous awards ever could stomach giving MW2 GOTY so I doubt GB will.

I'd be super-surprised if Uncharted 2 doesn't win over MW2 at Giant Bomb.

One funny thing I've noticed about these quicklooks, is their length. I wish they were longer! Or at least end at some logical point. For example, I watched the Dante's Inferno video tonight & they had to break right in the middle of the demo, presumably because of the camera issues. But in almost all videos I've watched, the player always gets shouted at to hurry up, we're running out of time, we have to move on. And I don't get why :lol It's your own site & your own equipment, why is there a self-imposed time limit you can't break? Even though I've played the said demo myself, I still wanted to see the whole demo & listen to their comments on it. But you rarely can because they have to go do something else for some obscure reason :( The always seem to speed running demo X & when the time's up, no matter where they are, they gotta turn it off immediately. Frustrating!

Although it is their own site, they are under a bigger company, Whiskey Media, which pays them. I imagine also they (WM) foot the bill for server costs, upkeep, maintenance etc.

So the longer the videos they have = Bigger filesizes for their servers = More expensive to upload and maintain. The dudes at GB probably want to keep costs minimal on their side of the operation by having a self-imposed limit to lessen this.

I myself don't have a problem with the length of their Quick Looks, as a QL that is 20 min+ long is a good barometer of how a game is and plays. Plus, how long do you want to look at the new leisure suit larry game to know that it sucks?

EDIT: Also, they are a small staff, and have so much other games to cover in a given week

The bad guy rolling around like a chimpanzee had me in stitches. I love bad animation sometimes. :lol

And I don't give a flying fuck about any site's GOTY. I don't see the point. Are good reviews not enough for some people or what? No, they need some bullshit award that has no real meaning so they can get a chub-on for the game they liked. Oh goody!

True, cost is a constant in this universe :) On the other hand, I knew from the get go that the Jackie Chan fighter was gonna be crap, I just watched parts of it for laughs, not for purchasing tips :)

Between Ryan moaning about how crazy PC gamers are and Dave’s screams of Monsters, that Cryostasis quick look was hilarious. :lol

game looked interesting too but I’m a chickenshit with scary games and I don’t know if I could handle the tension.

The GOTY Bombcast was my favorite video game podcast of 2008.

I don't really remember it specifically.

I really enjoy the usual bombcast, and I'm sure their personalities will make it entertaining, but arguing which game out of Uncharted 2 / Batman / Modern Warfare 2 etc. is slightly more great than the others just seems so pointless to me.

All the GOTY nominees are big hyped games that are no-brainers anyway for anyone who keeps up with games and owns the system it's on.

Shurs did you see their videos for each category? Those were great too.

Those I liked because those let them get way more specific.
