I do agree that the default window size is too small, I guess most people run a pretty small native resolution? Running at 1920x1200 here and the thing isn't even a quarter of my screen. Do people really watch these in non-full screen mode? I'd find it hard to get anything out of most of them.
I never run my browser fullscreen. The video resolution is perfect to keep it running on the background when doing something else (like browsing the gaf).Virro said:I don't have a pixelation issue... sounds like a problem with your browser maybe. I would totally be OK with that.Corky said:I love Dave, wish they'd include him in the "core group" aka jeff, ryan, vinnie n brad. THROW IN SOME DAVE GODDAMN YOU!

thisVirro said:I honestly have no idea what you guys are talking about. Running Mac OS 10.6.2 with Safari 4.0.4. Just checked it on FF 3.5.5 and it appears fine on there too. I tried outputting it to my secondary monitor (Toshiba 40" 1080p LCD) and while the native resolution on there isn't as good as my monitor, it still looks fine. I see minor jaggies, and on some videos its more noticeable than others, but nothing that's detracting hugely from my viewing experience. The way you guys are describing it, sounds like its something pretty serious.
Yeah... I've got my TV set up right next to my desk, so I can have the stuff I'm working on right in front of me and things like GiantBomb/GameTrailers/Hulu or w/e up on the secondary display to my left.

I dont put GB videos fullscreen unless Im sitting at least 4 feet away from the screen. Their resolution is not that hot.
Virro said:Haha, well that might be it... I'm sitting about 5 feet away from my TV. I mean... its not HD, but it could be a lot worse. I tried loading up the Pixeljunk Shooter QL and switching it between the TV and my monitor and I did start to notice the pixelation a lot more. Ignorance is bliss?

I always though that's just a "filter/smooth" option need to be turned on in adobe flash video, since it's the adobe plug-in doing all the work. Is it not? I think the resolution and compression are both fine, just need to be filtered when it goes fullscreen.

looks interesting. kind of reminds me of 'cold fear'.
I believe it runs way better on nVidia cards too. The game runs like shit on an ATI 4870.Ogs said:Its a really great game, sort of like BioShock. It is slow paced, but that works well for the scares, i shit myself plenty of times :lol Sadly overlooked game of 2009
Does have some major sucky performance though......
Somehow I doubt MW2 will win at GB. They're better than that. I'd say its probably between UC2 and DA.iamcool388 said:Gerstmann just tweeted that they are down to the final 2 for their GOTY podcast. I'm guessing its between Uncharted 2 and Modern Warfare 2, and MW2 will win.
I kind of feel they've been leaning towards Batman lately, so I was thinking UC2 and Batman. Anyhow they seem to have decided.NeoUltima said:Somehow I doubt MW2 will win at GB. They're better than that. I'd say its probably between UC2 and DA.

Minamu said:One funny thing I've noticed about these quicklooks, is their length. I wish they were longer! Or at least end at some logical point. For example, I watched the Dante's Inferno video tonight & they had to break right in the middle of the demo, presumably because of the camera issues. But in almost all videos I've watched, the player always gets shouted at to hurry up, we're running out of time, we have to move on. And I don't get why :lol It's your own site & your own equipment, why is there a self-imposed time limit you can't break? Even though I've played the said demo myself, I still wanted to see the whole demo & listen to their comments on it. But you rarely can because they have to go do something else for some obscure reasonThe always seem to speed running demo X & when the time's up, no matter where they are, they gotta turn it off immediately. Frustrating!
True, cost is a constant in this universeHasenfeffer said:Although it is their own site, they are under a bigger company, Whiskey Media, which pays them. I imagine also they (WM) foot the bill for server costs, upkeep, maintenance etc.
So the longer the videos they have = Bigger filesizes for their servers = More expensive to upload and maintain. The dudes at GB probably want to keep costs minimal on their side of the operation by having a self-imposed limit to lessen this.
I myself don't have a problem with the length of their Quick Looks, as a QL that is 20 min+ long is a good barometer of how a game is and plays. Plus, how long do you want to look at the new leisure suit larry game to know that it sucks?
EDIT: Also, they are a small staff, and have so much other games to cover in a given week
