I know perfect dark is all nostalgia, but it looks like ass. Multiplayer doesn't even look fun anymore...and I played the shit out of goldeneye back in the day.

I completely agree. It was sad watching them play, because it was clear Jeff and Ryan lost any possible interest they had as soon as they started to control it. I was the same way when I picked up Goldeneye this past October for the first time in the better part of a decade. I played it for about two rounds before quitting because it was just not fun. There's a possibility that I could have gotten used to the controls and quirks of the game, but I honestly didn't want to risk remembering one of my favorite games as being pretty horrible.

The last thing you should ever do, is look at Giant Bomb videos, and base that around purchases.

My god PD looks old and I don't just mean the graphics. :lol

I really can't go back to those Rare shooters. They feel way too archaic.

And yet someone here will claim that PD is TEH BESTEST FPS EVAR.

I owned PD back in the day, it wasn't even good then. Sold it off without finishing the SP campaign.

True. I didn't like PD back then either, although I played the shit out of Goldeneye. The thing is, that when PD was released I have already played games like Half-Life or Quake 3. FPS games at that time were already on a whole other level.

It's like Jeff's point about how young people claim that Halo 2 is the best FPS ever. It's all relative based on age and platform availability.

Personally, I couldn't get into the Rare FPSes either, but that's because I was a PC gamer playing CS and TF.

PD is fun to play, but they were using boring settings.

I must be the exception, because I love Quake, UT, CS, TF, BF, CoD, GoW, GE, and PD.

To me, it wasn't the gameplay per se but the low resolution and 4 player splitscreen, not to mention the ungainly N64 controller.

Why is there no Perfect Dark demo out there?! :lol Don't want my money? Fine.
Because its a XBLA game and thus effectively comes with a demo upon release via the xbla trials system?

It's not out yet, is it? :lol I checked yesterday & there was no demo available. Jumped the gun a bit I guess :) Shame on me.

Wow.. I'd have to be in a serious nostalgia trip to touch another pokemon game again. It was a chore to watch just 10mins of that.

I played Diamond and it was fun. Last one before that was the original Gold. I'll probably wait another 2 generations before touching it again.

you lasted longer than i did

the original red/blue were no doubt epic but it seems pretty much the same game that I played over 10 years ago

sure the saying goes "if it aint broke, don't change it" but at least try to make some improvements to the game-it's not like they're not limited by a budget since these games still sell like hotcakes apparently

I luved me some yellow, but I agree that they could probably stand to change some shit up. most of this feels straight outta 2000. -_-

I'd love a console pokemon done in like animal crossing visual style, but that's not happening. :(

Even today I can still go back to Red and enjoy a playthrough but a year ago I played Ruby and it seemed like no matter what you did your pokemon would get poisoned 4 times a battle. Having to go back through the menus so much to get antidotes just ruined the game for me. Played Diamond not too long ago and the whole thing seemed so slow and tedious.

The thing with the non DS games is you can use the N64 or a PC emulator to speed it up. As far as I know that's not possible with the DS emulators.

Looks like boring Pokemon. I played alot of Blue and the next one I tried was Diamond. This series is a slow, grind heavy collectathon.

I really loved pokemon blue at the time, but man did that look boring. Everything just looks so slow, I doubt I have the patience to play that now.

hahahahahaahahahaha

the one platform in the entire history of gaming that has demos for literally every game released on the service!

wow, the PD QL just looks sad man.

Oh and I played a shittone of Red/Blue back when I was a kid until I dropped my GB and that was bye bye save file. Never touched my GB again and gave it to my little sister.

I haven't played Pokemon since the original Gold, I'm still planning on getting it. That video was pretty boring, but is watching someone else play Pokemon ever fun?

I know :( That's why I thought it was weird that there was none to be found :P Brainfart.

They do, mainly to stats part of the game.

At the end of the day, Pokemon has always been a boring RPG with tons of grinding and some simple collecting.
Absolutely. It is the grinding RPG. Same boring monsters introduced at the same boring pace with the same boring graphics and the same boring everything. Caught them all in Pokemon Blue and I just can't do it again. Tried Diamond--aside from the fact it was sub30 fps, fugly, and slow as goddamn shit, the game is just all about grinding. Normally that'd be fine, but I did it once already and I was still grinding for fucking original pokemon.

It would be bearable if the story was any good, but Pokemon is always the same lame stuff.

"I must collect all the badges!"
"My nemesis! You don't understand the hearts and souls of pokemans!"

well not everyone can be cool and handsome and good at video games man

maybe you can go back to barbies horse adventure or a ball with a cup or final fantasy xiii and leave the adult games to people who aren't babbys

I was never all that psyched to play an updated version of PD, but that QL pretty much reinforced my fears. Gonna pass. Though I should at least dl the demo.
