I had Magic Sword on SNES, it was pretty fucking pimp. Don't remember it being that chaotic though. Maybe the SNES version was changed a little?

they probably had to water it down since the snes wasn't powerful enough.

Gotta make sure Javascript is off, which is weird because it's the opposite of just about every other video player. Trying to search by category like QL or ER still sucks, but at least the player works if you link directly to the video (like from this topic).

Aha! That's prob the one thing I didn't try. Thanks, man, now I don't have to download them as flash movies before I can watch em (yeah, my computer is a relic).
 
Guess this is a good place to announce this...

So i've spent a little time lately working on a Giant Bomb web app as a test of whether or not i've still "got it" when it comes to web development, and it's ready for public consumption.

As of right now you'll be able to read news, read reviews, and listen to episodes of Giant Bombcast. I plan on adding more features over time, like search, and improving the interface.

I don't have an Android or Palm device or anything like that, it was only tested on an iPod Touch but it should work fine on Webkit-based mobile browsers. I've made some accommodations for other devices (like turning animations off) but if anyone runs into any problems just shoot me a PM.

Point your mobile browser here and give it a try.
 
That's pretty cool, Zombie James. I'll add it to my bookmarks.

I have the iPhone app for videos but this looks lie a nice complement. and the fct it's a webapp helps out lots of folks not on iphones.

They have an app on the App Store, yes. This is entirely web-based, so it should work on more devices (though it's only been tested on an iPod touch).

Lookin' very slick sir, I was thinking about using their API too to create something similar, since the Official App development seems to be at an all-time low.. If you need any tips or help on developing this project, hit me up on the PM! I'd love to be a part of this.
 
Kudos Zombie James, thats awesome. And far more appealing than the GiantBomb app, which just feels loveless. And trying to watch a video review on it rapes ones eyeballs and temporal lobe.
 
Here's what i would kill for.


Either


1) an updated version of their iphone app (or a new app) that delivers high quality video to the ipad. I can use the iPhone version on the iPad but it sure as shit ain't ideal with the pixel doubling and the video quality is compressed for a much smaller screen.

or

2) a fallback HTML5 player on their website for all those h.264 videos.


make it happen, Giant Bomb (or Whiskey media in general) i wouldn't mind seeing Tested videos in a non-flash player, either.
 
Great job dude, it looks way better and more organized than their app. But have you tried to add the achievement tracking system to it ?

Also add video searching. If, for example, I want to watch the Persona 4 endurance run from a particular episode I'm up to, I need to search for Persona 4 then select videos then scroll through the entire list.

Being able to select your region for the release schedule instead of just seeing US release dates would be cool too.

Oh yeah, I mentioned this exact problem in a post a while back. :lol it was a big problem for me trying to catch up on the P4 ER last year.

Giant Bomb doesn't have an API for accessing Achievements or any other user-specific information, unfortunately.

I was able to get in and watch the mailbag video before the upgrade came in, and there is definitely a part that made me spit water on my screen. Be warned.

I would like the user display back up top and out of the scrolling page itself; it's in the way and the top looks empty without it.
 
Someone needs to make an animated gif of Brad peeking out from behind Jeff then reverse the frames and loop it so he is constantly bobbing in and out.
 
Quick look, slow sight. (*badom-tish*) Hope they get that sorted out shortly. Also the search appears to be weird. Had to use Google to get to the Power Glove page and whatnot.
 
Yeah, not a fan of the quest system thus far. Some of them are impossible to know unless you go to the site religiously. For instance the limited edition one is impossible for me, because I don't know where to look and the clues are very vague.

Also it seems the site got a lot slower due to this new implementation.

Giant Bomb usually has these issues when rolling out new features. Very slow. But they always get faster.

I enjoy the new feature. I think it's a very clever way to get more people to take advantage of the site's feature set instead of going straight to the videos like most do.

Oh definitely it is a great way to get people to explore the site further which is great, but offer some better hints for people who don't know where to look for these images....which aren't under the image tabs under said persons username.
