Forgotten Sands looks fun, but I really wish they hadn't gone with big crowd combat. The speed kills in Two Thrones fit the game extremely well.

God, Two Thrones was awesome.

I think it looks extremely uninspired and sub-par compared to any of the other Sand games.

Eh, I'm easily pleased I guess. I think its looked good since the first time they showed the Prince running on walls and swinging on shit :lol

edit : also, the guy playing fuckin sucks. This game is hardcore and thats a lot why it is fun. He played it all on easy ? god damn. I never thought I would see the day that I agree more with a gamespot review than a giantbomb one.

The Wings of Prey QL inspired me to check out the demo. Skipping all of the tutorials, having never played a flight sim before, and occasionally checking the control list in the options to help guide me it took about 45 minutes to successfully take off a plane in Simulation mode. The moment where I realized I was off the ground for more than a few seconds and not about to crash was goddamn magical.

I recognize a lot of PoP 2008 textures and moves in that video. I may play through the game eventually, but I guess I'm a baby that didn't mind having Elika around to get rid of checkpoints and all that "game" stuff that I find annoying.

It's more the contivedness that puts me off: solid time water, large group of cautious hesitant enemies, sand showers in juuuuuuuust the right place, etc. No tact or elegance.

It looks entirely forgettable

I don't like the way the Prince moves. All of his sword swings, all of his jumps, all of his movement... looks like somebody turned the "game speed" dial down 10%. Everything feels like it should be moving faster and smoother than it does.

I'm not disputing that but it just seems like any time I see you describe an upcoming game lately the post is just "Looks bland, animation isn't great".
 
Vinny's reaction to finding out you can loot the corpses was pretty funny. He foresaw himself spending a lot of time looting dozens of corpses after a huge battle. OCD is definitely a curse.

The guys aren't far off in saying it's sort of a third person Fallout 3. So if you enjoyed that, give it a try.

Nothing like Fallout 3 whatsoever, and there is zero RPG elements from what I see. Only comparison I think I'm seeing is the big open world you can explore and get side stuff in. That's in almost every genre these days.

The random encounters add a lot, FO3 did similar things with that, though they show up more frequently in RDR.

I mean, I don't expect you to to see every post I make, but I'm sure that's not all I ever say. Infact, I can't remember the last time I actually said that about a game besides Forgotten Sands. I know I've probably said it on other games, but not in a really, really long time.

No stat trees, sure. But there are sliding scales of morality and the ways in which people perceive you which are persistent within the world. There are NPCs with brief moments of interaction that aren't even sidequests, just momentary diversions or someone you might consider rescuing. (Much like in FO3.)

The open world feels nothing like a GTA, Saints Row, or Just Cause. It feels much more like the "I wonder what's off in this direction" wandering of Fallout 3. Could just be that the open expanses where you might feel all alone for a while before stumbling across another person have an inherently organic feeling that you don't find in more populated settings, but I definitely understood precisely what they meant when they said it.

It is worse then other videos using the Giantbomb app on my iPod touch. I was starting to think they weren't going to do anything for this game as they haven't mentioned it much at all on the last few podcasts and didn't have a review up.

One might think they're still children :) But I'll be damned if it wasn't funny. I thought I saw HAT below the ASS score as well. Not sure if I saw correctly but it was still funny :D

at first when I saw this thread on the first page I thought that there is a new QL , I was happy and lil wet to see some of my fav GB staff doing a nice video on some new game , but then I remembered it's Sunday , they don't update in Sundays , but it can happens , one must always believe , and then I told myself there is no way this is just a lame useless bump , I encouraged myself , put my hand on my mouse and I clicked on the thread , scrolled down and it's indeed a lame useless bump , right now I am sad , disappointed and still shaking my head.
