The GiantBomb Quick Look Thread

In case anyone is curious, there are more enemies. There are spitting ones, giant things that look like the Gonarch from Half-Life that you have to kill before they swell up or else they release exploding pods when they die, ones that shoot exploding pods, ones that you have to go around back to shoot because they guard themselves with armored legs, and face-huggers that a medic has to get off of you or else you'll explode.

There's only one campaign of seven (I think) levels, but it comes with the SDK so a lot of people are making their own levels right now.

The weapons also range from stuff like machine guns, shotguns, pistols, etc., to things like rail guns, electric Tesla cannons, and flamethrowers.

And the chainsaw, don't forget the chainsaw :D.

Oh right.

And the SDK had some other enemies like a Queen that aren't in the game, so user-created levels and campaigns or future official ones will probably have more content.

The real fun is trying to complete the game on insane with 3 other people.

well..as the story parts shown in the QL I think it's very interesting considering the ending of Alan Wake.

bad things are they just reusing the same locations from the game ( maybe that way it's just 400MB download ? ) I don't like that in dlc ( or in sequels ), can't give them free pass because it's free dlc , I like to play in new places every time , also the new way to have ammos and other item is very lame tho.

also they didn't fix the awful screen tearing , I really hoped for them to fix that via patch ( they didn't ) or give as tearing-free dlc , but again but they didn't.

anyway , I hope Remedy don't waste their time on more DLCs ,better focus on the sequel and put more stuff in it (or tell Rockstar that you are ready to make the real Max Payne 3).

Already a second piece of DLC scheduled.

I'm not sure why you're down on them potentially making more money off this game. I mean, since you seem to want a sequel and all.

Not only that, but you're not invincible when you boost so you can't smash other boats like the first game.

Ugh, what a disappointment.

I agree with Ryan on this. The boat doesn't lean to the side when it turns =/

Everything about the turning looks wonky. Carving into the corners would help, but like Ryan mentioned it's also a perfect turn around the center of the boat. It doesn't look right at all.

Hydro Thunder Hurricane looks like Hydro Thunder to me. The boats don't lean in the original, either.

I guess it's kind of a bummer that you can't use the boost to plow through opponents, but it's not that big of a deal.

I also watched some videos of the original ( I have not palyed it) the turning in it doesn't seem as wonky as in this.

well there are some reasons ,there are no huge studio like Bioware , for a small studio like Remedy , DLCs might effect the development of the sequel , we might end with short sequel ( since many contents/idea may ended in the dlc instead of the sequel ) or a rushed one , also Story focus DLC can cause some problem to follow the story for people how can't buy the DLCs since the dlc works as bridge to the sequels so many people might get lost in the dark.

if Remedy can give us dlc chapters and a full , rich ( without removed contents that went to dlc chapter ) long sequel without a huge delay then all power to them.

uh , why the water in 2001's xbox Splashdown looks way better than the shitty water in this 2010 Xbox360 game ?

holy shit at the voice acting/dubbing , damn son , the dude doing L'Arc voice is the only one who is trying to not be freaking dead bad like the rest of the actors in this game.

anyway ,the idea of points-round system or whatever is kinda interesting but everything else ( stupid characters design,Cheesy dialogue, cutscenes..ect ) reeks traditional Shonen jumby JRPGs but I hate JRPGs so I don't if this is bad thing or good thing for the fans.

and the monster/summon thingy at 7:55 actually remind me of ZOE's Jehuty/Anubis more than FF-X's Bahamut.

I softened up to Kessler after watching his Kessler Kams. Anyway I'll check it out. After I heard the voices I was put off by the game. Maybe this quick look will convince me to try it again.

The AP distribution isn't anything new, it's pretty much what we got in FFXIII only here it's distributed between the whole team instead of just the one character

That really sucks considering I finally played H2Overdrive yesterday and smashing into opponents was one of the best things to do. That and it seemed much much faster than this one.

Skies of Arcadia has an action point system. While it's only used on Specials, it's shared between all characters.

This system is an evolution from that mindset, but it's nothing new.

I love how people say Kessler is trying to hard or he pretends to be ryan or jeff. I talk alot with him, before his giant bomb time, and thats just the way he talks. Even if the subject is cereal.

I like Kessler. A sign of a good person for the job is if they can take a completely uninteresting game (i.e. Arc Rise) and make it entertaining at least for the duration of a Quick Look. I was at least interested in hearing what was said during the video, despite having no intentions of buying the game. So kudos to you Matt!

I still feel like he tries to emulate Ryan a bit too much, especially through his jokes which sometimes feel like he's saying in his head: "what funny quip would Ryan say right now?", but most of that probably stems from my/our unfamiliarity with him. I've liked both of his quicklooks so far and his first bombcast will be legendary.

Kessler comes across like a cosplayer or someone who won a "work your dream job!" contest. I don't hold that against him though, he's just a kid and is working with people who he'd probably classify as heroes of his.

Yeah I think most of us are rocking our chairs like Navarro at the thought of working for GB.com and would never stop jumping up and down in joy if it actually happened. So the Hate for Kessler is probably because people see themselves in him, deep down :)
