I think that the reason Jeff still does it is because he thinks "Well I've come this far, all my money and time would have been wasted if I don't see it to the end".

He's spent 400 dollars out of his own pocket by now. And "see it to the end" may cost him, what, 400 more? Gosh, that's like a nice TV or an arcade machine he'll never see. :lol

TBH, I don't even enjoy those videos that much.

I think AnEternalEnigma was referring to Game Room itself, not the quick looks of it.

The QLs of it are pretty fantastic.

I want to like Hydrophobia, but seeing him struggle with the control will keep me far away. There is no excuse for poor control, especially in a game that requires platforming.

There was no excuse on an Atari FFS, if PITFALL has less finicky jumping then you need to stop focusing so much on all the cool shit you're trying to do elsewhere and make sure the goddamn thing plays like it should.

Downloadable or no, you shouldn't have platforming that reminds me of the 96 Tomb Raider with less finesse.

Man Quantum Theory came off better in its Quick Look than this.

We were discussing Hydrophobia on the podcast and the first act is generally intro, tutorial and heavily relies on stealth. Unfortunately that is what the demo consists of and the game suffers for it. The introduction of the shooting opens the gameplay up and adds variety.

It's not a great game but it is much more enjoyable than what I saw in that QL.

I also do not care for Alex and Jeff quick looks of games they clearly do not care about.
Whenever they do a QL of a game Jeff clearly doesn't care for, I can always feel the other guy hesitant about what he should say.
Case in point, Alex asking something like "so Jeff, what do you think about the new direction the franchise is taking?"

But yeah, if he knows he doesn't like GoW-type games, why not let vinny take his place?

Quick Look: NBA Jam

horrible horrible games all over the place today , yikes

Konami GT is kinda alright I guess , the rest are dog poop

and stop doing game room Jeff , Room is shit , Microsoft don't even want to put Atari jaguar or 32X game on this piece of shit

seriously Jeff and the other guy ? you are alrightin this abomination ? really ? come one guys.

broken control , bad movement , bad shooting ( I played the demo ) , ugly environment that don't let you even know what you are shooting most of the time , aside of that it run like a legless turtle.

this is not Castlevania , this is anime Kratos Adventure ,

Dude movement and animations are junk , combat seems completely light and weak ( maybe because of the player ? ), climbing is basic , and bravo on copying the the Boss fight from Shadow of the Colossus devs , completely pathetic.

but why this thing is called Castlevania anyway ? unless a UFO take you after the chapter in the QL to a real Castlevania then this is just GOW clone and they duct taped Castlevania logo on it.

Cutscenes : the official game " shitty Climbing gameplay included "

and seriously Y to jump ? smh , what with UK developers and buttons , Motorstom PR put the handbreak on the circle Button ( instead of square like normal games ) and now another UK dev put the jump on Y...I hope the players can change it in the option menu ( unlike Motorstorm PR )

Goldeneye with iron sights, grenade indicators and a sprint button? What the fuck is that all about.

...and if it had the old stuff it would be as outdated as fuck.

Really, a no-win situation. It's a game that should never have been made.

It wouldn't make it outdated, it just makes it look more like CoD, that's all.

Jesus, their servers must be on crack. I've been downloading their videos at 1.5-2 mb/s lately.

Lords of Shadow looks shabby.

It looks like a functional shooter but what I don't understand is what kind of people are they trying to reach with this game. I mean, I've been playing GE for 10 years and I don't see any resemblance with the old game at all.

I don't think old school GE players will be into this (i know, i know, they are just milking the name for the new generation).

And what the hell!! No "death" music??? Big fail there.

Back to emulator with custom maps :3

I would agree if single player didn't look great. The people that would actually be into the multiplayer are part of a microscopic niche. But let's say you are someone who plays multiplayer FPS games on the Wii. The week after Goldeneye is released, CoD Black Ops is out on everything (including the Wii). Now, I wouldn't be surprised if Black Ops is going to be more popular even in that small Wii online FPS crowd. I just don't get who they think will be playing this game. Again, at least the single player is what has me interested and why I'll buy it.

Looks like a solid shooter but apart from a few nods to the N64 game, that looks or feels nothing like GoldenEye. Good amount of options, graphics look solid and the fun factor is there. I know they are trying to capture the "Get your mates around and play GoldenEye!" factor but it still suffers from cluttered UI's and having a game that is open to damn screen-watchers. :lol

I believe their ruling was the death music would get annoying, but it is still available when you play online.

Yeah it looks fine. Nothing to write home about, but it'll probably be the most serviceable shooters on the Wii to date. The amount of ire people can whip up never surprises me.

Jesus Christ, Totobeni. Do you ever not make horrible posts?

Too true, I might as well be reading the Giant Bomb forums.

It's hard to remember that Hydrophobia is a $15 arcade release, though. Expectations and standards IMO have to be lowered a bit.

So was Shadow Complex. And Limbo, and probably a dozen other games that make that game look like shit. So I think peoples' expectations are just about right.

the devs were there

their terrible aim and non-use of the radar made me want to cry.
Yeah but it's such a weird way to do things. No dev input or anything and the guys were cracking the same jokes they usually would hold back. The guys were probably watching to make sure they didn't play anything they didn't want them to show.

I think Goldeneye looks pretty okay.

But I really hope they can find a way to package in the classic maps. That's not the "Facility" map I seem to remember.

Goldeneye looks ok, but will get lost in the glut of FPS..s just released and releasing this holiday on multiple platforms.

NBA Jam looks so fucking good, my god. Perfect ending with the other guy asking Jeff timidly "dude, can we go play another game.. like, after this quicklook?" :lol The highest possible praise. :D

Hydrophobia QL made me realise I've downloaded but not yet played the demo (don't worry I won't buy it, just want to see the water dynamics for myself). I'm afraid to check out the Castlevania QL, will put that on the backburner for now.

Oh wow this looks boring, I almost fell asleep during the bossfight.
Yeah, could they present the game anymore boring? Jezus christ a little enthousiasm wouldn't hurt them, the game it self actually looks awesome. Did they just get out of bed or something?

No drugs left in the office.

I understand Goldeneye needed to be updated, but as a result it looks like a mediocre Call of Duty clone. Nothing appealing there at all.

Goddamn, why couldn't they just leave it alone?

Eurocom.

Should have given it to Treyarch.

Nah, Treyarch need to impress now Infinity Ward have bailed. Black Ops is make or break for the entire series for a lot of people.

I'm now watching the Hyrdophobia QL and it looks just as bad as I've heard. Disappointing.

Is it me or is Jeff a bit jerky when it comes to competitive quick looks. Like, he won't tell the other dude how to play the game just so he can get an easy win. I let it go in fighting games because the rounds are so short, but seeing him destroy the other guy in the first Jam game was kind of hilarious.

i hope they do a DCS A-10 quick look, the last flying one they did was a real slumper. so long as they make good use of vinny's echo effects anyway.

You try to be enthusiastic about bog crap. That level just looked awful, wander around and occasionally wait for bubbles to pass. The boss fight looked like SotC-lite, framerate and all.

I don't blame them.

the worst critique I heard was "I'm shooting the generic looking guy". They usually hold back when the devs are there.

I consider Game Room to be Endurance Run 3.

It amuses me that everyone hates it going in to record Game Room quick looks, but they keep doing it. :lol
