The other GB members have made fun of Brad for that stuff going back to GameSpot days, and "pulling a Brad" is part of GB history now. Don't be a creepy white knight trying to defend him, he knows his reputation in QLs and why he has it.

Sure, but there's a difference between 'haha brad, you die all the time' teasing and the 'stop playing it wrong' whinging.

Watching From Dust kinda makes me regret ignoring Black & White so long ago due to the hate it received at launch. Have the urge to actually find a copy of that to try finally.

It's still not a good game.

I don't think it is too much to ask that they at least learn all the controls for a game before showing it off in a manner that probably affects a good number of buying decisions in the audience.

54 minutes of Harry Potter. Here we go!

With great power comes great responsibility.

As has been repeated before ad nauseam, they make no claims as to the thoroughness or accuracy of their quick looks. In some cases, they've played the game extensively before showing it off. This time they had zero previous experience. Each type of approach has its value, both for consumers and as entertainment, and as long as they state up front what they're doing for each QL I don't see a problem.

Sometimes they just jump in blind. Nothing wrong with that. I like seeing if the game's controls are intuitive or not right off the bat.

But sometimes they seems incredibly stupid not even realizing how the simples mechanics work even with the tutorial running.

Anyway this Harry Potter game looks awful. Even the storytelling sucks. Sht makes no sense if you have nt at least seen the film before.

If you're going in fresh to something with a title that ends with 'Part 2' and find yourself lost, there's no one to blame but yourself.

They need to at least look at the control screen so they have a decent idea of what the buttons do. Brad played quite a bit of the first mission of Kill Team before realizing he had to press A to use his sword, and neither of them knew they could sprint till it was over.

It would be better for them, better for the audience, and better for the game developers who don't have to watch their game get trashed over issues that are only happening because the people playing deliberately avoided learning how the game worked.

I agree but I think they were playing like most new players would be. Learning the mechanics as it goes on even if some of it is obvious.

But even if I am familiar with it (which I am) at least I would like a coherently presented story. This is not that at all.

Movie games are the worst. They tell you nothing cuz they wanna make you see the movie so they show the bare minimum.

I clearly didn't enjoy the Deathy Hallows book much because apparently I don't remember any of it. The dragon for example.

I laughed at "Watch out when it's breathing fire."

Almost 3 years of the same complaints...stop watching.

Unless you're actually acknowledging them as truths, that's kind of how complaining works.

The bulk of the people buying these already know the story back and forth. The rest of the knuckle heads willing to play are only doing it out of curiosity and at that point, especially don't give two shits about the story.

Sorry that I'd like them to improve what I usually find to be a really enjoyable and informative way to show off games.
Sucks for you, I enjoy them how they are. I do enjoy the higher video and audio quality they have implemented over the years though.

damn, tomorrow looks like a big day. AND Happy hour? Lots of catching up to do Sunday...

I still have about a month's worth of Happy Hour to watch, I've been slacking off.

If I was complaining about Quick Looks the same way they sometimes trash on games in Quick Looks I'd be saying that I hate Giant Bomb videos because there isn't a way to make them full screen.

So when they say a game isn't fun or controls sluggish they are missing the options to turn those options on?
He's talking about instances where, to use your fine example, those options are actually there.

Before I leave just wanted to post this selected quote from the first page of this thread:

I know Jeff is an intelligent game critic, his commentary is pretty useless; he doesn't get the mechanics, fumbles around the world

Deja fucking vu

Ryan can't aim. And I love the sound he makes as he plays a game, with those incredibly loud "clicks" constantly as he smashes the analog sticks as hard as he can every which way.

Are there guards in uniform with wands in the book/movie?
I really hope not. I dropped off the series at book 6, and don't remember anything like that up to that point.
Rent-A-Wizard cops with sub-machine wands is the dumbest fucking thing.

The Deathly Hallows games wouldn't be too bad if they hadn't completely changed how magic is executed. To be fair the movies are partly to blame for that but they've gone even further with the games, no one saying the spell as they cast it and spells that are basically machine guns. Just annoying!
