The GiantBomb Quick Look Thread

It's not just a matter of forgetting a feature, it's supposed to be something you pick up and become accustomed to when you first play the game. It's a tutorial fight.

Reading the other few sentences you didn't quote might help put that one in perspective. I mean, how many sentences did you have to keep track of? I wrote, at most, 4 sentences. Four. 1, 2, 3, Four.

I don't think they're going to start doing that now. They haven't done it for any other games where they've not realized basic things about how it's played.

They didn't.

After checking out the video, the SotC things was not too bad. If anything, the Zelda Crategate was more grating. However, neither were bad enough to cause me to shout at people on the internet.

Brad always seems to get hate, but rarely gets praised when he does well at a game (Starcraft, Quake, AOE, Mortal Kombat and loads of other Fighters, and Super Meat Boy).

Never change, GAF.
The ignorance field emitted by doing a Quick Look has been something that's rubbed people the wrong way for many games. That Warhammer 40.000: Kill Team quick look was was another fairly recent one. It's one of the themes of this thread.

Only a generous amount of boyish anger and the word »fuck« would have saved it from being esoteric garbage, I'm sure.
No, just a less generous helping of effete obscurity. Actual explication too, I suppose, but you'd rather not waste your words on such as I, lest my feeble being take damage from profundity.

I challenge anyone here to make sense of what you're talking about in the post that spawned this exchange.

Hate just causes more people to argue. Praise always seems to fall by the way side. That said, the Super Meat Boy Quicklook is one of the best ones out there. It was phenominal and sold me so hard on the game.

He was having a conversation at the same time, and they weren't really paying attention to the tutorial.

I guess some people should chillax a bit then.

My post was pretty straight-forward and in simple English, as it should be in a thread about a Giant Bomb Quick Look. The type of flowery prose you're mocking as if it was a habit of mine is not the basis of it. Your beef with me is that I don't share your ire. You understood exactly what I meant.

I reckon they should have a Brad playing SC2 endurance run. The run ends when Brad gets into masters or he gives up.

Haha, dude you're my favorite. You couldn't even write the word "fuck" in a non-bullshit way. I love you.

I think people would have reacted equally with any game.

It was a couple of things. But the specific thing that seemed to irritate people was him smashing the boxes intended to put on a switch looking for hearts. He smashes them, and about a second later says he thinks he's missing something if I remember correctly. It was funnier more than anything really.

Was it he OoT 3DS Quick Look? I remember that was fairly painful, lol.

Also Vinny and Brad even mentioned crates to put on the switch as Brad smashed crates.

Brad played Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3 in an rather terrible manner. He was so convinced that the game was just "Press X all the time" that he never even tried to hit the Y button as part of a combo.

He rightly got his ass kicked. Jeff even mentioned at the end that maybe he wasn't playing it right.

I think me and approximately one other person cared.

Okay, any game GAF has actually played so they can speak knowledgeably about their mistakes.

The above, another example of a game no one has played.

Additionally, the assumption that there's not much to the whole series besides spamming attack is very wide-spread. (The only DW I remember playing was the very first one, which was a 2.5D fighting game.)

The whole quick look was one big joke, though. Not that fair a comparison, I would say.

Please quote all posts you're responding to and not just the ones inflating your ego to make life easier for me, thanks.
I don't think his love for my talent to come off as an asshole should inflate my ego. I almost always quote the post I'm responding to, unless a thread sits idle and it's clear who I'm referring to.

He was in Jabu's belly and kept destroying a crate that he needed for a switch, which respawns each time you go back in the room. He mentioned needing something to put on it WHILE DESTROYING IT AGAIN.

I know Brad gets a bad rap for this stuff, and a lot of times I think it's funny, but the zelda one and the sotc one are pretty indefensible.

Just pointing out the subjectiveness here, don't mind me.

What I don't understand is the disconnect.

If people are honestly as pissed off by this sort of stuff as they seem to be based on their posts then you'd think they'd give up watching the QLs and in turn stop posting the same stuff in the thread.

It seems to me that some people go out of their way to watch the QLs just so they can nitpick them.

Fine if that is what you are into, seems overly negative and self destructive to me, though.

You're conveniently ignoring that this doesn't happen in all QLs to make a rather presumptuous point. QLs are generally a good thing and I enjoy most that I watch. So no, I at least am not just watching to subsequently bitch about them. I assume that's true for most people here. Someone's already mentioned that people are generally more likely to criticize than they are to praise, which I would agree with.

Same, this is the second one I've been actually bothered by, and I've watched a fuck ton of them, so overall it's a great pitching record for an entertainment service.

Dude, your post was unclear. It remains unclear.

Thanks for looking out for us. As you can tell from my extremely savage criticisms, I was literally bursting veins in my head from rage. It's impossible for me to express a critical opinion without literally foaming with anger, you see.

It's pretty obvious that I don't mean every QL. I'll say it rather than imply it if that's what you need though.

There is a lot of complaining in this thread, though, so it happens regularly. I recall having this exact same argument on no less than 2 or 3 occasions and I rarely comment on pretty much anything.

It's the same with people bitching about podcasts. If you don't like it you'd be better off stopping listening to it every week rather than listening and then just repeating the same criticisms every thread.

Wouldn't you?

Not to mention the stupid way people apply logic to stuff because, for example, Brad fucks up in SOTC. There can always be factors you can't account for as an observer and besides that, what is the point, that horse has been flogged and the whinging is achieving nothing besides shitting up the thread.

I apply the same logic to myself, too. So don't try to tell me that I'm arguing against human nature or something.

Do the math, if you weren't expressing what seems like unnecessary indignation then I'm not referring to you. It's pretty clear.

I usually hate to jump on the "Brad sucks at playing this game" bandwagon but watching the SotC section of this quick look....he fucking sucks at this game. Oh man.

Finally watched it and I find it funny that Ryan (who has never played SotC) is figuring out the boss battle before Brad...

Oh Gaf, your hype never ceases to disappoint me. That hardly was as bad as your reaction made it out to be.

Having never played it before; even while fixating on the circle based on everyone screaming about it, it still wasn't immediately apparent what the whole fight was about. Add that with the fact that he's played it before, (a long time ago no less) adding a pre-conceived notion on the hows of playing it. Which is why he was confused when he kept falling off because he remembered it being easier, since he most likely paid more attention to it when he first started playing it.

That being said, never change Gaf, the reactions are almost always better than the video.

Or the SNES party when he forgot Super Metroid had a run button...
