Arthur doesn't have a shitload of experience with it like everyone else at GB, so you can't really hold that against him.

Have listened to him on dozens of hours of podcasts and always enjoyed his reviews but that doesn't always translate instantly to video.

All the crying comments here/gb about arthur make me hope he shows up again to spite you.

Justin McElroy, Ludwig Kietzmann, and , most importantly, Jeremy fucking Parish would be awesome additions to the GB crew. If JP joined, we'd actually get great JRPG reviews, and I think he'd blend well with the GB guys, especially Dave, Drew, and Vinny.
 
Why is everyone always playing fantasy podcast league with Giant Bomb? Would you really want to change what they have going by adding random people you like?

On a completely unrelated note, when are we going to get a Remo, Elliott, and Gaynor dream 'cast?
 
I think the best person to hire is one that all the guys know and have either worked with before or are friends with. I think someone like Adam Sessler would work seeing as he did really well with them on the GDC podcast and they love talking about his hat. Either way though, they don't currently seem to need anyone right now as they aren't particularly bogged down at the moment. Besides, who knows what their wage bills are like or allow. If anything, Whiskey media needs a new website. Something like a music news/review site would be awesome. Not sure how that would feed into video content unless they could get live acts or something. Plus, they could use a lot of the current staff to do reviews as a lot several them have musical backgrounds (Alex / Jeff).

Completely agree. Arthur is terrible and has no idea how to get his points across without sounding like an asshole. He isn't in the same league as the GB regulars and friends of the site as far as journalism chops go, and the only reason he even has a job is because he piggybacked off ex-1up'ers misfortune to get his foot in the door.

He also likes to talk a lot of shit about GAF even though he used GAF donation money to fund his little startup.

As critical as I am of Arthur, GAF certainly deserves the shit-talk some of the time. Put yourself in his shoes, or any journalist's shoes. You wouldn't just say "Yes, all of these criticisms leveled against me and my profession are spot on and completely reasonable. I will change myself to better suit GAF's tastes." You'd say "fuck those assholes."
 
I don't think anyone would be offended if he responded critically of the negative posts. It's nothing like the Brad being bad at games thing, these posts are being critical of his personality, not his job performance.

People should bare in mind he is a gaffer, and you aren't allowed to shit on a gaffer too hard, it's against the rules.
 
No not Arthur Gies. He already ruined what would otherwise be my favorite podcast, and now he's back to ruin my favorite video series. Please just stay at joystick where i can easily ignore you. I'm not the type of person to dismiss everyone but the original four, but I draw the line at Arthur. Please anyone but him.

Edit: I guess I should explain why I don't like the guy. My biggest complaint against him was more of a podcast problem where he'd have to get his opinion across on every single last thing even if he has nothing to add to it. Don't like adventure games or platformers and someone is talking positively about an adventure game or platformer? Then lets turn the topic around into why I hate adventure games or platformers or japanese games in general.

He was also the most biased journalist I've ever had to listen to since Shane Bettenhousen, except with bettenhousen it was bearable because he almost always took his fandom in a positive light.

Which leads me to why I don't what him in quick looks. Gies is very negative about everything unless its something released in a genre he likes by a big developer generally in good favor with the press. Then he sounds more like a freaking PR guy parroting what the developers told him.

And all that would a little more excusable if he was actually funny, but he really isn't at all.

They have the deepest bench of any gaming site out there. Patrick, Dave, Drew heck even Kessler outshine a majority of the gaming press. And thats ignoring Rorie and the Tested crew. If anything Kessler should guest on Rebel FM to bring the quaility of that podcast up a notch

But as long as we are playing podcast fantasy league... Kat Bailey, Jeremy Parish, Vinny and Dave podcast please :)

I don't know why you would say that. Parish has almost nothing in common with any of those guys when it comes to taste in games. He is also now the editor-in-chief of 1up so talk of him leaving to be another staff member at Giant Bomb is rather bizarre.

What's great about GB is they are small, so make more fun light hearted content on a few things rather then being a dumping ground for all VG related stuff, I really don't want them to expand, more coverage and more voices isn't what makes them stand-out.

Why are people shitting on this Arthur guy? I'd never seen or heard of him before and he seemed pretty chilled and funny, working well with Ryan in the Now with Bears QL.
 
Child of Eden is the only game I've ever played on Kinect, and it felt pretty responsive, all their Kinect QLs make Kinect look like a piece of shit.

Arthur Gies is indeed terrible. There's no way I'm going to watch that QL, so can someone tell me if it's explained why he's there? The fact that he's anywhere near Giant Bomb is very disappointing. What are those guys thinking? I disapprove.

As hard as it might be for you to understand, people like Arthur. Including the GB guys. For whatever reason he had the game (I assume something to do with Joystiq) and he offered to take it GB guys, to which Ryan said yes but only if he did a Quick Look of it with him.

I know this is the internet/NeoGAF and all but fucking hell some of you people are jerks. Not everyone likes everyone else, that's fine but try and be civil about it at least.
