Is this Jeff "spent $1000 on a Sony Airboard" Gerstmann or Jeff "bought all the Gears of War 3 weapon skins for $45" Gerstmann?
Yeah, good ol' Jeff "bought Sonic Adventure on XBL despite hating it" Gerstmann.

No no no, I'm talking about Jeff 'bought all of the DLC weapon skins for Gears of War 3" Gerstmann.

edit: beaten like Jeffs wallet.
twice, even.

okay but seriously best jeff buying something story has to be when his parents left him money for food so he went to a flea market and bought a turbografx and a shirt that said "shut up, bitch"

the funny/sad part is that as I wrote that post I was staring across the room at the boxes of my Halo Reach Legendary Edition, Gears 3 Epic Edition, unopened God of War 3 CE, and my dust-covered MPC-2500 sampler. I know Jeff's inner pain.

hahaha, that's great.

I think from all those I know and heard about, the Star Trek Online LIFETIME subscription beats them all in sheer insanity.

You should watch the Set Phasers on Fun series of QLs. It's some of their funniest stuff.

this might be a longshot but do you (or anyone else here) know where I could hear this story from Jeff? (podcast episode or old gamespot show?) because this sounds amazing but I cannot remember hearing this one at all

I can't remember at all.

It was a pretty early bombcast. One of the 2008 episodes.

Holy shit.

That's the most amazing thing I've ever heard. Probably has to do with the fact that I can't picture Jeff as a child and am therefore imagining current Jeff doing this with his parent's money, but still.

Oh god that was hilarious. I only remember this because I started re-listening to the old Bombcasts last year in between new episodes. Really wish someone could figure out which episode that was. I remember him wearing the shirt to school, but I'm not sure what happened then. I think he had to wear it inside out or something like that.

Don't know what all the hate for the Wizard was about, I started out with him and was completing ever scenario on my first try until the third encounter. You have to play him more defensively, but he starts out with turret structures at level one. Brad was playing the Knight and didn't get a turret ti'll lvl 7. They definitely give you the means to succeed, you just can't run around right in the fray as if you were an offensive class.

This QL was kind of lame. A lot of misinformation and Brad speeding through the levels not even bothering to collect all the gems and build to full capacity. Also when Patrick levels up you see that Brad hadn't bothered to upgrade any of his tower attributes for the wizard, despite being at lvl 5. So I'm guessing that had a lot to do with his troubles.

PSP Minis quicklook. Believe.

If you want bad iphone game quick looks go to tested.

Dungeon defender controls as loosely and shitty as it does on android/ios. So glad I only downloaded the demo.

Our own Brad Shoemaker plays a game lackadaisically in a quick look!? You don't say!

I don't even mind kinda rushing through a game to see a variety of content for the purposes of a quick-look (which if that's the goal, at least a look at the different classes on the selection screen). It's just the misinformation, and the blaming the game aspect of it that is always lame when it happens. Portraying the decision to suggest the Wizard class and the class itself so poorly throughout the video. I mean he said he got overwhelmed on the first level. By the end of the first level with the Wizard, you have a disgusting amount of turrets. You get enough mana for like 3+ at every choke point, and at that time in the game it's the only defense you build. So it's not even confusing about whether or not you should.

Hearing Brad repeatedly make it seem like the beginner class they recommend was unplayable was just annoying and false.

Same thing happened to me. I'm sure I'll do better next time but the tutorial is not the greatest.

Wow the developer they were talking with was really candid about their process and even his insecurities about how some things turned out, like having to cut levels, people's response to the difficulty. Really great QL/ interview session.

Indie games keeping the current 2D platformer renaissance alive and well, very strong possibility that this is another great game to add to the list.

Didn't go through the tutorial, is it really that bad? Surely it teaches you how to build bases, repair defenses and cast spells.

Looks like the QL for the Twisted Planet DLC will be live and starts in 10 minutes.
