The Warthog QL was amazing. The only thing that could have made it better would have been a successful ejection.
The whole QL was like a build-up for the Eject situation.
That was amazing. The few minutes they spent taking off after a half an hour of setting things out was tense - although if they botched it then I would have died laughing
I wonder would they ever do this...

...it is one of the few "simulator" games I heard about that I have not found solely through GB videos
It is supposed to be rubbish -no pun
I got curious: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0VdG9C8RYM -- Pretty cool.
It is. And it is funnier than the quick look. Ya'll should dig that up.

So if this really is that much of a sim, does this mean if you learn how to take this thing up in the air in the game... You can do the same thing with a real one? That's almost a buy right there. Not that anyone will ever let me near one of those, but, yknow. "I can fly a fighter jet, babe".
Does anyone have the justin.tv link of the "real" quicklook they mentioned during the A-10C one?

They only talk about the other flight simulator they did before. I have no idea what you are talking about.
good man! I'm surprised you managed to find it with how GB names their videos on justin/twitch.
I'll just ask here. I heard they discussed the Naniwa incident, where can i watch/listen to that? : D
I think it was during one of the Bombcasts. They really didn't get into it at all, Brad hadn't heard about it yet and Jeff didn't really have the Starcraft knowledge to properly put into context what exactly happened. It's not really worth looking up IMO.
I'm with Dave. There has to be a better way to layout those cockpit controls. It's as if the engineers knew the users would be highly skilled and trained for hundreds of hours, so they assume they'll figure out the clutter. I wonder what the interface is like for more recently engineered jets.

I'm guessing they want them to be reasonably incomprehensible to the average person just in case the average person happens to get in one.
Well you have to remember that the A-10 was first designed in the early 1970s for pilots who were presumably only vaguely familiar with computers and very familiar with physical controls, so Dave's whole "just give me a screen" seemed a bit short sighted. The computers on the modern A-10C were retrofitted in in the last decade or so.
modern jets need iOS
I interned at defense companies while in college.
Here's the problem. See all those modules in the cockpit? There is a good chance they were each developed by completely different companies/contractors. In the defense industry stuff gets contracted out to lots of groups. As a result, each part is almost unto its own. It's generally a good idea because if something fries in the cockpit you can quickly replace it.
Also as he EmCeeGramr said, this thing was developed in the 70's, well before modern GUI design. This WAS cutting edge back in the day. You also have to remember much of this stuff is STILL analog. Anytime you have more analog, your complexity will rise. These systems are also very complex, and pretty much everything is done for a reason, typically per spec.

Same. Anything involving Zombies will do that now, though, so it may not be the game's fault entirely. Though I do have to question what the point of it is if the combat is indeed 'not that fun' as Brad said. This game looks so boring that I couldn't get more than 5 minutes into the video.

...For perspective, this is after watching DVD flip switches and turn knobs for 30 minutes. Yeah.
AMAZING quick look. Seriously, there were moments as good, if not better than sky train.![]()
What have I missed here? Or is this the name for the amazing train simulator QL

My sides, they hurt so much. Such a great QL.
dk_, may want to hotlink that image instead of posting it like that. Ruins the surprise.

Oh man, as a dude who always dreamed of flipping a switch under a safety cap I have to get that game! lol
You have a link for that? Or at least a date?
EDIT: Wait so I'm watching some tests that Jeff did on the Justin.tv GB account and he's talking with Vinny... Vinny is mentioning that he recorded a podcast with this father? WTF? I remember them joking about that on the bombcast but is that a real thing somewhere? lol
