After playing Snowbound Team Slayer I've come to two conclusions.

#1 Spawns on this game are broken. But they're even worse at Snowbound. I'm engaging in a battle with this guy when all my team are dead and he's got two guys waiting to respawn. My team spawns on the other side of the map. His two buddies spawn right next to me.

#2 Grenades are broken. I like the idea of having three types and two of each. But there are so many grenade spawns on the maps that the reduction in grenades that you can carry is nullified. I can stand in one area and chuck about 11-13 grenades because of the spawns.

I'm getting tired of having to dodge a volley of grenades that look like the arrows in 300.

Those achievements are something I would expect out of an EA game - not creative at all and so simple to do that there's no satisfaction from getting them.

I was hoping they'd be more original like Crackdowns achievements, or at least don't have achievements for something that happens in every single multiplayer game.

This is no different than 2, except that they were pretty much impossible to dodge in 2, not so much in 3.

Thank you. I'm with you. There are others also, earlier in the thread, but they went and hid after the shit hit the fan :lol

I've played a little more and I think it's a combination of a couple things. The drops, as you mentioned really swing the number of grenades, if you hang out in a high traffic area, you can throw seemingly unlimited grenades.

But I think the problem is also with the radar. I never liked the radar in Halo (I think it was the first really popular FPS with one), hated it more in 2 and it's no better in 3 (although I did notice that you can tweek the range and turn it on or off in custom games which is great). Without a radar, blind throwing wouldn't be nearly as viable. It's impossible to stalk someone because most people spend more time checking the radar than the screen. Anyway, I know I'm in the minority, but it has to be said.

I just think it's a better game without advance warning of every fire fight.
 
I'm sort of hoping they use the achievements to encourage certain types of player behavior in multiplayer. Something like finishing X matchmade games without quitting or X games completed without negative feedback. Maybe one for not killing someone just because they took the sniper rifle.

Heck while I'm thinking about it, an achievement for getting the winning kill in a Team Slayer game would be cool. Likewise with getting the final couple seconds on a Oddball or KotH game. VIP could have one for not dying and getting a number of kills as VIP.

We'll your going to love the search for custom games feature in Halo3. You can setup no radar / grenades off matches to your little heart's desire.

Seriously, people, CHEER UP! This game is going to have hundreds of tweakable options, and now people can search customs..
 
I love the radar off actually, I remember when they first introduced Team Hardcore on Halo 2 I got a triple kill assassination on Midship :lol

Wow, finally we agree on something. It isn't a big deal to me because I know I'm going to be playing mostly custom games with radar off or severely reduced in range.

But I don't want grenades completely eliminated from the game. They are essential to the Halo mechanic, but I'd like to see them be a little more precious than they are now. I want to feel a little sad when I "waste" one not as sad as Ghaleon's video made me, but close.
 
LoL, I actually remember sitting in line for a NGC when I was like 14 I guess, hardcore Nintard, and the guy next to me was sayin he got an Xbox. I had never even heard of Halo, but he was like yea it's awesome, you've got these alien dropships dropping in enemies all the time in these huge battles, I wish I knew the guy, he totally sold me on what is now my fav. game(s) ever :lol

Yeah you can go to their profile in your Guide (where you can send them messages/add them etc) and hit File Complaint -> Profile & ?? -> Gamertag. The douche got 4 complaints based on his tag after that game. He only has 10G so he probably won't mind, unfortunately.

As long as the achievements don't create hostility in the game like it does in Gears for example, I'm all for it.

I feel the same, i have been 3-shotted with the BR on a number of occasions, even from distance, yet i can aim at the head (as best i can :p) and shoot 7-8 times before they drop. Yesterday i had a few occasions where i shot a person standing still multiple times in the head, on one occasion 6-7 times (without any lag that i noticed), before they died, what gives?

Same thing with the carbine. Yes it's possible that i am just missing, but when the target is stationary and i don't move my xhair from their head, and they still take 6+ shots to go down (from medium range)? It's weird.

I could be mistaken, but I don't think there's any point in aiming for the head with the carbine. Plasma weapons don't give headshot bonuses.

Also, it could be lag causing your BR troubles. Maybe a couple of bursts missed completely? I've only very rarely managed a BR-only kill. BR + melee, grenade + BR headshot, or melee + BR headshot all work pretty consistently for me.

If any poor-to-mediocre GAFfers want to play some games or explore the maps, add me: Dr Alisdair. I'll be no fun to play with if you're pretty good, unless you like winning 25-0.

Carbine fires projectiles, not plasma, and it registers headshots.

I think you're wrong there. I'm not sure either, but I could swear I take them down quicker when I get headshots than if I'm hitting the body. At least with the Carbine anyway. Not with any of the other plasmas.

Carbine fires projectiles. You have to reload it. It's not plasma. :)

Seconded. Last night there was this kid that managed to do something similar in High Ground and the 5 matches after that he kept talking about how awesome his new campspot was and that he was totally gonna save the vid because the spot was so amazing and kept yelling "guess where I am guys!". Ugh.
 
Good games, MMarsu, Nino, Potato and whoever had the gamertag SPARTAN B22. Plenty of fun killing Waterbong too (especially on Shotty Snipers).

Oh and MMarsu: how nice of you to stop right in front of me with your Mongoose so I could shoot you in the face. If only everyone was that eager to get killed. ;p

It's not Robin, though there was a Ruben in our party when we played you. I played a quick match with you sometime last week by the way. The nickname was NAFLA, if that rings any bells.
