Yep, gametype + map, lower left corner of the screen

I was ultra disappointed in Crackdown and decided against buying it (I WAS planning to initially). I really want to try the beta out, though. Hopefully I'll be able to find someone around here with the beta for a test run.

Really? I was so juiced for Halo 2. I read all the Ilovebees stuff, watched all the trailers and footage, bought a Legendary Beer Stein, sucked back like a hundred Mountain Dew slurpees, spent entire work days at HBO. They really hyped the hell out of that.

Of course, the Halo 3 hype train is just now being loaded up. I'm sure the marketing will begin in earnest shortly and my head will assplode with too much super Dew or whatever it is.

Believe you are allowed one guest for the Beta. Guessing that won't change come tomorrow either.

Wonder if the playlists would change any come tomorrow? 8v8? Or have they already said it'll be what the current lists are?

Frankie has said they may change the playlists during the Beta, but not what they're going to change them to. At the moment there's only 4v4 and he said that probably it would only go up to 6v6.

again everyone forgets how Gaf only represents a small percentage of gamers (and usually the hardest of hardcore)... the masses are going to need images, movies, articles.... Halo 2 launched like it did partly because it was also behind a massive marketing push.

IGN seems convinced the SMG is worthless now. They say the AR has the general overall usefulness, the BR has the range, and the spikers have the rate of fire. Thoughts?

btw: Urk betrayed me twice in that round. :lol

edit 2: I went back to Halo 2 and could not play it a well. Halo 3 has a better overall feel, better balance, and is just more fun.

first time I think I've been MVP of a match too! I'm so proud! Still way too many deaths, but I was too busy with flag grabbing (2) and flag killing (1).

Proximity voice is cool too. I was charging in the base on Highground with my mongoose via the bunker on the left...they kill me when I'm inside the base in the open and someone says something like "what the hell, how did he get in here so fast?"

Wow... I only now noticed that in the stats that when you move left to right with LB and RB, on top of that, you can go down the list of players and press A - seeing stuff like the medals (even selecting them to see what they represent) and weapon of destruction (weapon you kicked the most ass with), the person you killed the most, the person who killed you the most - practically as much info as Bungie.net!

All of this already functional in the Beta... that's Bungie for ya!

Took well over an hour but the gametag list should be complete now. I will not play Halo 2 today...

...it will be tough to go back after the BETA... I've seen friends online playing Halo 2 in the evenings recently and wanted to go join them, but knew I wouldn't be much help since I've already got the Halo 3 controls down. The controls aren't "drastically" different, but not using the X button in Halo 3 much when it is your reload in Halo 2 will be so weird... I still catch myself pressing the Left-Bumper the do team-chat in the Beta right now. Oh well... Learn to play Halo 3 for a month, then back to Halo 2, the back to Halo 3 this fall

And for those you wanted to know, the Mancannon does not launch the bomb - I just dropped it in there, and it just drops into the bottom of it... you have to creep up to it and pick it up again to get it out...

I don't think there's a CTF-Valhalla in the Team Skirmish playlist, as I haven't seen it come up even once...

If you launch with the bomb in hand and die mid launch does the bomb continue to progress or does it drop like a box of rocks?
