I must say, Blim's video has piqued my interest in this game again. I really like the animations and the smooth framerate. Not so sure about some of those new weapons though.

Hey I think lost planet is a fair game to compare, it's batshit insane, 16 players and has massive scale maps. It's the game I hold halo 3 against, not gears of war.

I think it's completely understandable that they wanted to stick with the estetics created for the Halo Universe and to be honest Halo is all about minimalistic sleek designs. So the graphics isn't a big deal but I do feel they should of taken a few more chances. Some nice atmosphere effects, localized fog (think next gen fog, not the old gradient style you used to see), worked on the reflection maps/masks for the characters so they don't look so flat, exagerate the fall off from the light (in ambient lighting they look completely flat), had a lot more scene based animations (more memory on Xbox360 now you can afford to do more of that stuff). Lots of little animated touches to weapons etc.

Gameplay, physics physics physics. It really does make combat more dynamic and fun. I think Crysis idea of a customizable suit is a _great_ idea if implemented right. How cool would it have been if you could channel your suits power to different things at different times (speed, strength etc.)?

Those are just some of my ideas but really, I don't mean to rain on people's parade. These are just my thoughts, I wish I was on the beta playing alongside you guys. I really just wish they would of done more because while I had fun with Halo 2 xbox, this just feels like an extension of that rather than a next gen game.
 
How is he not banned yet? Are all the mods playing H3? :lol

On top of that, Halo 3 killer screen doesn't look all that hot. What exactly has he accomplished?

I think halo 3 would greatly benefit from some subtle weather effects or something, right now its like nearing perfection for what is on screen, but it's 'not enough', I can't explain it.

Dude if you really care enough to judge me you should check my post history. **** I love the Xbox360 as much as I like the PS3. If I was in a Wii thread you could claim that and you would be partly right, I really don't like Nintendo's choice this generation.

Comparing a finished product on a single player level to an uncomplete multiplayer game...

Screens look good. Videos are even better. Can't wait.

Ok. I've been a game dev for 15 years. Gears and Rachet and Clank looks like shit. I have so many games in development that look way better than that trash. I can't post them or prove anything because NDAs. In the meantime, I'm going to fill a couple of posts with buzz words and technical terms and shit on Halo a little more because everyone enjoys it and I'm free to feed trolls and derail discussions. Hay, it's just my opinion.

Well, I just watched Blim's video and I like what I see. Nothing mind blowing, but I don't see how Bungie could accomplish that after we've seen GoW and Crysis.

damn few weeks ago i was able to read ur 720p footage well with my laptop, now i cant anymore :(.

Anyway, i think we just need to see some Single player footage.
I think it will look much better , i dont know why but i really feel the MP is using Halo 2 engine with a lot (a LOT ) of tweaks , but SP will have his own (engine).
Right now , imho the SP i see in blim's video doesnt looks as good as resistance MP , but i think the SP will look better. Anyway cant wait to be next week

I've found that use The Core Media Player was the best way to get the best performance out of wmv files. WMP or MPC would play my 60 fps 720p Forza 2 video at like 10 fps, and TCMP plays it perfectly. Give it a try I guess:

Man, I've been playing Gears this whole time, and popping in and out of the thread just getting so hyped (and so jealous) of the screenshots and the dutch video...

...which I can finally type about now that I've got the chance - hot DAMN @ the audio in Halo 3! AR sounds badass, the sniper sounds deadly (love the metal kick in each shot), rocket launcher just sounds so mean!

Love the sounds of the plasmas - hell, everything just sounds so good - really makes you feel like you're in an epic battlefield - the sound engineers in Halo 3 are f'ing gods...

Animation is really something special there too - too much to comment about, but damn those Spartan move so naturally...

And holy crap at those TXB pics! Screw the haters seriously, the Beta looks and moves just fine... and of course it looks even better if you're actually playing it...

And Blim, your video is getting so hammered - it's soooooooo slow... :(

I checked your post history, and for the most part you don't hate the xbox more than the ps3 or wii, but you do like to cause a fit and stir things and you seem overly negative. like a cup half full type of dude. IMO, you also said recently that 'graphics don't matter', then what have you been bitching about the past 3-4 pages?
