Everyone hears the beeping when the mine is deployed. It's easy to avoid on foot that way.

The game does realisticly muffle sounds when underwater tough, so they may not have heard it.

That's what I figured. But I was just hoping there'd be a slim chance the download wouldn't be as large for Crackdown :-(

That's already been confirmed by Bungie back when they talked about Saved Films to 1up. The party leader controls playing the film FF, RW, slow-mo, etc and everyone in the party can be watching their own view of the same battle, flying cameras around, etc. It will be great for reviewing team strategy.

Thank you and thank you Eric, thats great to know. Even better when the party leader is a friend and wants to be a complete douche and show the same clip of you getting shot in the face over and over and over.....

Ok cool, thanks for the reply. It would be kind of cool if only the team of the deployer (am I making up words?) could only be the one's that heard it but that's no biggie. :D

A LOT of my friends got a postive k/d ratio....but the skill level of a lot of players in the beta at the moment is pretty low.

I'd say so, in some respects. Auto-aim is greatly reduced, PP combos are shot, grenades can be....random at times. But the critical thing about the k/d ratio is this: not that people are harder to kill, just that the person with the lower rating dies more than they kill. :) Like Tieno, who seems to like to rush into battle with no support at times. :) I'm slightly more cautious, but I'm not a pro player, by any means. I can say that BR kills are much more difficult for me than they were in Halo 2, and I get lazored a LOT.

As to the sound from the trip mine, I'm not sure what the deal is. I put it down yell to my teammates "I PUT A MINE DOWN HERE! DON'T STEP ON IT!". 5 seconds later, I hear a BOOM*BETRAYAL. Either people have their sound turned way down or something (they sure as hell weren't talking as I would have heard them at that distance, and they weren't firing at people, so I guess they were deaf). You can easily here the mine, but it is possible to get caught up in other stuff and not pay attention to the sound and get bloweded up.

kill ratios are probably low because kids dont realize that the AR and BR are the only good weapons besides power weapons.

This is incorrect - those are the good two all-purpose weapons. Good as defaults - you'll always want to have one on hand. But the other weapons are good in other situations. I can't count the number of times I'm running around indoors on High Ground only to get owned by someone dual-wielding. The AR against any dual combo at close range will lose.

Also, the carbine is in many ways the AR's superior. And my only killing spree has been with the needler.

I heard that it does. There is an IGN video interview done, and the Bungie folk were talking about various situations that have played out so far in the Beta and that was one of them. Pretty cool stuff if you ask me.

the grenade landed in the mancannon and hooked/launched after the warthog.. sticking the gunnner

It's where you change the type of lobby you want to host...

To my credit, my assist/kill ratio seems to higher than most people (at face value) here.

0.6878

Probably because of the charging I get killed first and the other guys finish off what I started.

It occured to me that we are never going to miss moments like that thanks to saved films. I am really going to enjoy watching everyones 'holy shit' moments.

Stinkles, are you finding much time to play the Beta or are you too busy running around like a chicken with it's head cut off doing work? I have yet to see you in any of the videos that have been posted.

I can't tell you how much I look forward to that. Weds can't come sooner. I know as soon as my wife sees me playing this again.....its all over...

They still have SCART. It's so giant and quaint.

All the LAZR kills on the G4 special were mine though. If they made it in, that is.

mancannon is a cannon that boosts a person/item/vehicle 20-30 feet into the air

Well, if the rumors are correct, Halo 3 will come out three months later. That's less than half the time we've had to wait on the Beta since it was announced.

Upon closer inspection, that warthog seemed to be doing a barrel roll as it was mancannoning into the air and getting stickied, too bad you can't go into third perspective in the beta (though you will in the full game)

Yeah seriously, hopefully there are some truth to these september rumors.
Shadowrun better be tolerable. I'll need something to get me through just a few more months.
