The Halo 3 Beta Thread

Honestly, the biggest problem for me right now is the complete lack of information on the subject. What happened to "keeping us updated?" I'm sorry, but one or two posts saying "Dur, it's not working guyz, we know" isn't exactly keeping us updated. We kinda know it's broke. Now tell us what the hell is going on.

So far I have had a billion fewer "what the hell" moments in Halo 3 than in Halo 2. My shotgun works, melees work, grenades stick to people instead of going through them, people die when I ram them with my vehicle instead of flying to the moon... it still is a little shaky in terms of consistency when two players are close to each other but it is so much smoother overall.

Not to mention that Crackdown update broke just about everything else too. BEST DLC EVER MY ASS

I just bought the game ( Crackdown ) AGAIN today to play some Halo 3 with GAF and some other friends..

What the hell Bungie :(

I noticed this only the first time after the update (also I got disconnected from Xbox live).

I'm getting much more slowdown during the game. I think it's because of the DLC, though.
 
What really sucks is the early bird won't get his worm first this time because the Beta will be release in peak online hours. So essentially its going to take EVEN longer to download.

Says who? Extrapolating from all the data I have, and if current trends continue, Crackdown users will never get a chance to play the beta.

Exactly, things WORK again. When I get the jump on someone and throw a grenade at their feet, I know I'll be able to finish them off without some stupid shit happening and me getting killed.

Grenades, by the way, are somewhat between Halo 1 and 2, but they found an excellent compromise.

On my 360 after you press start when it says loading save it looks like it freezes for a few seconds as well.

nope. If they told me it would be up 8am tomorrow right after it happened it would be much less annoying to me

I wouldn't be mad either. Without the info I just sit waiting....
 
Technically it's still May 16th and they could release the beta at anytime during today and they could say that the beta was scheduled to be activated on the 16th, we missed our initial launch during the day but we still got it out.

Now if it isn't up tomorrow then I will resume being pissed off.
 
No doubt they create these auto-updates ahead of time, and if it doesn't work when it drops they've gotta get the tech guys out of bed to throw together another update.

If they tell me "We're real sorry. Come back tomorrow, please." I'll be ok with that.

If they make me sit here and wait until tomorrow and just repeating "we're working on it" or "they're working on it" (whoever the hell "they" are), then I'll be pissed.

I'd PREFER they tell us what time if possible. As it is, I'm sitting here with Crackdown loaded just waiting for it to work. My whole day will be wasted at this rate. Granted, I could just give up and do other stuff, but this was my specific day for this. My GF is off my back for the whole night, I have special foods ready to be eaten, etc. I am just dying for them to get it working. I can't stop holding out hope that my day will at some point get back on track and I'll be playing Halo 3.

considering they already recognized there was a problem there is a zero chance of that happening
 
I am growing angry just looking at my Crackdown box, at what point does Bungie say Crackdown isn't working what is an alternate solution?
I think they should just put it on the marketplace, even though it will piss off people who bought Crackdown I could give a shit as long as I can play it.

I've found a few problems while playing the beta, but I'll save them for when the crisis is over and they might be noticed, not just lost in a wave of... people going insane.
