The Halo 3 Beta Thread

I paid for it. It said so on the box and in the box. Shut the **** up.

No sir. You paid for a video game. It's called Crackdown. Did you not look at the box? I'm sorry if you didn't understand the purchase. Do you still have your receipt?

Oh man, I went to sleep at 7 thinking I could just wake up and it'd be here. This is so amazingly stupid. They've identifyed the problem? Wouldn't it have been better to just throw it on the marketplace?

How does nobody test these things. I just don't understand what the **** takes MS 6 weeks to certify.

Actually he bought it for access to the beta I'm assuming. Since he said as much, I'd defer to him rather than you here.

I just played Aegis Gun with a guy that sounded like Borat.

"Let's eh... make de big machine."

"what?"

"the machine of guns or lasers?"

"oh."

"Oh, i have stomach hurt from fun times."

The Beta is just under 1 gig, but the patch to Crackdown that'll let you install the Beta is 23gb.

Beta only for the Elites, confirmed!

So by the time the patch is out, will this thread be over 9000?

I paid for a package that contained Crackdown and an invitation to the Halo 3 multiplayer beta, just like everybody else here.

The Halo 3 beta is part of the entire package. It's not like you can buy it separately from Crackdown.

sometimes it pays to have a job where you get out really late. On the downside I can't eat popcorn at my desk while I read the thread.

I hope I didn't blow my Rule of Three opportunity.

This is the email I sent Xbox@email.xbox.com

"I entered my beta code, started downloading then noticed I only had around 222MB left on hdd. So I cancel the beta download, delete the partial beta d/l, delete another demo and now it seems I can't enter the same code again for the beta.

If anything can be resolved it would be appreciated. If this isn't the place for my questions could you please forward it along or give the proper address to me."

Maybe I should delete my cache? But it deletes all software updates including XBLA software updates? Browser updates? Anyone ever encountered problems with this method?

But then again I've already sent the email. Hm wonder what I should do...

It seems head-shakingly-shocking, but perhaps most people did buy crackdown for the halo3 beta, after seeing posts from people who barely played the game. Sadly enough I expect a huge influx of used Crackdown copies in game stores worldwide after the halo3 beta has expired.

Geebus.

People are slightly insane here.
if they do indeed fix it in 3-6 hours, then we're talking about half a day delay of a betaroll out.
people calling it a debacle?
worst ****up in software history?
seriously?

that being said, I'm not trying to tell MS's community managers how to do their job, but I think that had they posted regular updates, even had they amounted to "we haven't forgot about you, we're still looking into it, we're trying to isolate the problem" every half an hour or so, I think the community reaction would have been much much MUCH more pleasant.
oh wait, I am trying to tell them how to do their job.

Yup piss pics are allowed on GAF.

It's not nudity in it, and guys say the most vile things in any thread with a woman, not to mention the dog puking gif that always gets put up lately, but I'll take it down anyway if you are offended or whatever.

Awesome, I hope I run into that guy in the Beta.

Honestly, I find even the notion ridiculous.

Sucks to be you! I'm eating popcorn at work right now! And watching Spaced.

The popcorn keeps getting way too salty from the massive amount of tears brought on from the insane pain in my ass after being ****ed by microsoft all day tho. :(

Nobody understands how certification works apparently. Personally when the patch hits, I for one *WON'T* be downloading it until other people have acted as guinea pigs for me. You can definitely blame them for not making sure the download would work beforehand, but now that we all know there's a bug, it looks like they're rapidy trying to fix it and rushing it through certification. 3-6 hours is NOT nearly enough to absolutely make sure your code is flawless and doesn't brick systems!

And it's still possible the bug hasn't been totally fixed - meaning it would be an even longer delay. So don't take that 3-6 hrs as set in stone.

There was an insert in said game saying we would be the first to enjoy the Halo 3 Beta. In something we PAID for. I think Ari Gold has a point there.

I'm smiling right now knowing the Beta will be here sooner rather than later.
The beta arrived "sooner" for F&F and RoT people. The beta will hopefully arrive "later" for Crackdown purchasers.

great games guys (deep blue, ramirez, etc). i cant wait for 12 player valhala to go live

Wow. Hostile responses when you try and be a little funny about a technical problem. :)

Add me on live, i want to kill you guys later. Gamertag: Watership

I know, but I'm just happy they've finally given us a time frame of when it will be available for our playing pleasure. It really puts me at ease.

Way to miss the point, friend.

You might have bought it for Halo 3. I didn't, and I'm confident that a large majority of the people who bought it didn't do it for the Halo 3 beta - if they even knew about it.

Not everyone buying games - especially games like Crackdown - are forum posters who enjoy talking about games all day long.

damn, I just realized I woke up at 8 a.m. and spent the entire day on GAF with no breaks. **** Halo 3. I love you and you are the only one that can do that to me.

So.. is it okey to laugh when 15,000 units gets RLOD after being on all day waiting for the beta?

My 360 was making a grinding noise for a while but it stopped. That's a good thing I hope. At least the room is nice and warm, it's freezing here.

Oh yeah, and if the beta downloads through some special shit inside of crackdown instead of using the dashboard I will snap for real! I want to be able to play SOMETHING when I finally get back from work in 3 hours.
