The Halo 3 Beta Thread

ms is not alone. its just the sign of the times. i bought a brand new samsung released just a lil over a month ago. it has hdmi handshaking issues with every device. every tv has it. i even asked the tier 2 guy how this could pass qa. they said it happens.

now i have to wait for a service tech to come replace my mian board and that will likley not fix the issue. they told me they are trying to foix the issue per a fw upgrade.

not to mention my sa8300hd cable box dying 3 times this year.

but with that said i ahve ahd no issues with my 360, knocks on wood.

i think all across the board companies are skimmping on quality. just my opinion. and oh i love my sammy tv. best pq i have ever seen on a lcd

These are straight garbage and I have gone through the same damn thing....

Way to miss the point, friend.

You might have bought it for Halo 3. I didn't, and I'm confident that a large majority of the people who bought it didn't do it for the Halo 3 beta - if they even knew about it.

Not everyone buying games - especially games like Crackdown - are forum posters who enjoy talking about games all day long.
It's not that hard to see "Includes invitation to Halo 3 Multiplayer Beta" slapped all over the box and advertisments.

well i knwo the majority of people who play games aren't forum posters. you have to understand how much of a following halo as a franchise has though. i mean anyone can admit without it the xbox would have died long ago. Most people that bought crackdown like to blow shit up (that is the average consumer) and most likely have played halo. so i would say there is a good number of poeple that bought it for the beta. it might not have been a selling point for everyone but it did make some people take a good look at crackdown.

I'm not so sure. The only buzz around Crackdown that I can recall and the only reason I know about it is the Halo 3 beta, otherwise it would just be another nameless GTA clone to me. Let's be honest, looking at the cover I don't see anything memorable that would set it apart from a dozen other similar games.

So I turned my XBox on yesterday at around 5pm (4am est), and there were already people waiting in Crackdown. When I shut the system off at around 10pm, the same people, plus more, were waiting.

I happened to wake up a little after 4am (3pm est), and turned on the 360 to see if maybe Halo was up. Instead I find the same people STILL waiting around in Crackdown! :lol Did some of you really spend that much time sitting in front of the TV waiting?

I went out to lunch today and left my 360 charging a controller. I came back and it was RLOD'ing and I had a friend with me to play H3. I was about to flip out. I knew it was hot out, but it wasn't an oven in my room and the H3 beta is today's big deal. So for it to last all this time and die today...I would have been so angry.

But I reset it and it was okay. Scary though.

Please use this in moderation. Its popped up every third page or so and it's too good to blindly throw around like cheap pillow. That's what cat and manatee gifs are for.

Hah, I missed that.

Still, I don't think the majority of buyers bought it because of the damn beta. That's way to nerdy.

warning: serious question

If you have a party of 8, can you just start the game and play 4 v 4 with yourselves?

Yes, you can. You will be playing in the Social list, as opposed to the Ranked lists -- and then you'll play Team Training.

ok, this will be my new permanent avatar (unless i change emblems in halo 3). i cant change my gaf name, and i dont want to pay MS to change my gamertag, but this should help connect my two names and so when i play with gaffers i dont hear "who is this Loop guy?"

Was it nerdy too when everybody bought ZOE to get the MGS2 demo ?

Ok, so i missed when the 3-6 hours thing actually starts....

What time did they say that, or better yet, what time should it be ready for eastern time.

Halo has an enormous following - I know.

But the average player that likes to blow shit up won't buy a game only because of the beta, though it would be a nice and fat bonus that might make them more inclined to buy it.

A GTA clone from the guy who worked on the original GTA-games, thank you very much. But would you buy the game only for the beta promised in the future if games are just a casual thing for you? I doubt it.

Yes. I can hardly see casual gamers paying for an entire game that doesn't interest them for a demo. But then again, ZOE was a game that I think could live on its own merits.

If everything goes well, should be max 5 hours left.

How many copies of Crackdown have been sold? I'm sure there are way more than just the people that will play the beta. I also bet that only 400 that bought a beta version will even play the beta.

Something went wrong. We don't know what yet. Take your medication, and stop acting like this Free BETA is something you deserve.

seriously... it's getting even more ridiculous in here with the whiners since they figured out what caused it

didn't think that was possible

But you said it yourself, the majority of people who play games aren't forum posters.

I understand you love Crackdown very much and want to believe everybody bought it because it's an awesome game, but you're wrong. I think a lot of people grabbed it because they liked the XBL demo, but let's not fool ourselves, the sales have been batshit insane because of the Beta deal. Get over it.

Seriously most people I know would have rented the game had it not been for the Beta.

I can imagine Luke cussing up a storm in the Bungie offices.

Actually not really, he's probably too busy playing the beta.

i wish luke was still on 1up yours, just to hear his drunken rant. Anyone think that they should get luke on the phone on this weeks 1upYours podcast?
