We didn't experience it as much as "retrieving Xbox Live info"... Once the flashing people left we could play.

is it just me or does the beta seem to be up and down all night and day.

just tried again and it will not let me actually start a game.

played this morning no prob.

last night it was locked up and yesterday morning not a problem?

am i alone is this common so far?

Snipers acquired its own playlist - ranked as well.

Rockets, Swords, Rifles, and Shotguns also appear, but only Team Rifles appears in Matchmaking (in various maps, i.e. Colossus, Terminal, Burial Mounds, etc.).

I personally don't think Rockets, Lasers, Swords, and Shotguns needs their own playlist, but Team Rifles (BR, Carbine, AR) would be fun.

but TAPOUTS off-TV grabs mask and hide every graphical flaw in the game.

shots taken off tvs are absolutely no way to measure the graphical fidelity of the game.

his camera adds like 4xAA to like every shot lol

haha, not really. Look at the h2 water shot I took. look at the rock, you can clearly see jaggies underneath it. Look ath the last H3 pic, on the pole on the right you can see some jaggies. You have to realize, on such a small picture jaggies are not as noticeable. Similar to playing on a small tv vs big screen. When I went from my 32" to my 56", I saw jaggies in games I never saw before.

exactly. Both running on same settings, same system, same tv, yet the comparison is unfair? What about the textures ,detail, lighting, geometry?? Is my camera making those us too?? LOL.

Agreed. The start of each game on Valhalla is always intense as everyone rushes to the laser.

I freakin threw the tripmine in the air after being shot through the man-cannon and hit the dude running at the laser. Very nice kill. :)

Game does look like Halo 2 in HD. Cant deny it.

Gameplay and balance is bloody great though.... but i really do hope they sort the graphics.

People don't go for it in a lot of the games I play, oddly
 
Post game lobby after and 3 to 2 loss in vip on valhalla. The winning teams vip camped the whole game in the base.

Other team: omg excuse me for using strategy
My teammate: "thats not strategy, thats gaytegy"

On the subject of PTT and Proximity Voice... I hate it too. Especially in Team Skirmish games. Nothing like trying to sneak in the base, and not being able to communicate with your team because otherwise the other team will hear you. This is especially frustrating in Assault games where you've been hiding in the enemy base for 5 minutes, unable to strat with your team for fear of death. The way team chat is handled in Gears is sublime. Proximity chat should only be used for FFA and perhaps a toggle in Team custom games.
 
Finally got to play. Lovin it. No real gripes except could move a tad bit faster. Weapons are cool, and as I expected while the graphics do not look a generation ahead of Halo 2 i didn't give a ****!!! come on Sept.

I'm not going to really post impressions since it's been done to death, but the game is ****ing awesome. I also do MUCH better than I do on Halo 2, I think it's mostly due to the fact that I have a starting weapon that allows me to hold my own most of the time.

Funny story though: I'm playing w/a 8 party of GAFers. I'm honestly not sure who was who except for Karma Kramer though. We had just done a Land Grab map on Snowbound, and Karma had been on my team and all about grabbing the ghost. So the next match it's the same game, but he's on the other team. My team is all together on one spot grabbing a territory (it's faster), and I see him coming as expected. I yell "jump" and NO ONE but me jumps, he splatters the other three. Then next round I tell my guys to look out for him. We all get on a territory. I see him coming from far away, and say he's coming guys, make sure to jump. NO ONES JUMPS AGAIN but me, he splatters another 3 :lol

All options aren't in the beta though, I'm sure.
