The Halo 3 Beta Thread

Dude, it's old news and some of us don't want to have that shit spoiled. Most of it is misdirection anyway.
 
Not to mention half of that stuff might not make it into the game. It might just be things that Bungie made to mess around with internally.

Anyway, I'm hopping on for the rest of the night. RyoGCH is my GT. See you in the beta!

Got a Speedtouch 585 and it works fine, just as it has with every other Xbox Live title.
 
So I can't get my Xbox Live account to work.

I can't play the Beta, and Crackdown is just staring at me. :( I hate life.

All I encountered today and yesterday were Stanby players. So it was 4 VS me or 4 vs me and one other person and it was extremely ****ing lame.
 
Don't think I've seen standby yet, but I was playing a game of VIP on Snowbound that was going very well in my team's favor until about 5 to 1 and then it was red bar city and I kept dying without being able to see where anyone was coming from. We lost.

Played some Team Skirmish and got on a few good teams and had some really close battles. Loving this demo. I reiterate, it's very, very polished. And it looks like it was a very good idea for Bungie to stress test their server.

I've noticed that Team Training seems to grab matches faster then Team Skirmish, which seems to get stuck in that loop where it selects the other players and then dumps the match.

That's why I'm uneasy if they add 6v6, unles they add tons of varients.

I need to work on that ratio, I want to have at least 1.5 by the end of the beta.
 
I can't believe that it's just a beta, the whole thing is so polished and smooth. I had some small problems yesterday when I wasn't able to start matchmaking but it worked again some hours later, that was the only time something wasn't working like it should in 75 games.

It's too bad that I get owned in every playlist right now, I've hit the limit already. I hope we get some new playlists soon, especially BTB and Swat.
 
I had an awesome game of Oddball on Snowbound (100-0, no deaths, 8 kills with oddball) but I couldn't save any films. I hope that bug gets fixed :(


Also I like how you can party up with people in matchmaking now. It was really cool to get matched up with a good team and then party up after the match was over and go on a winning streak.

Yes, and all saved films will be deleted too I think.

I dunno about that, for me Matchmaking can be very annoying; it often gets stuck loading for me when I change the game type.
 
Just contributing to the Oblivion beatdown.

I'm on a horribly timed vacation in Destin at the moment. Its painful to scroll through this thread every couple of hours seeing how much fun everyone is having with the game. I only got to play 5 matches before I had to leave for vacation. Can't wait to get back online on Sunday.

Yea man I got standbyed yesterday during a 1 flag game. The guy had the nerve to say that there was no standby in halo3, "bungie is going to call you stupid"

Thanks for doing that. The film you have up now is awesome. I wished I was that good.

I'm so glad Bungie put in the saved films feature. It lets you show your friends what you did.
 
I just got my first Extermination Medal, so awesome. Playing Territories on defense in Valhalla, and I had just grabbed the turret and their entire team rolled up and I got all of them :lol

anyone know if the game will see graphical changes before september? I am impressed with the graphics for the most part... but it needs some serious AA

Yeah, I don't think you necessarily have to have a 1:1 death to kill ratio to be considered "good". There's a lot of luck involved with who gets the kill shot when you're assisting a teammate. I wish they would create some kind of stat feature that incorporated assists.
 
On todays 1up show (short) bungie interview:

1) Sword depletes
2) The plasma pistol overcharge shot will drop a banshee right out of the sky (!!)

I approve of both. We knew pistol shots stopped vehicles but so far that usefullness has been limited, due to game and map sizes. But sharpshooting a Banshee out of the sky is going to rock. I hope there's a medal for it. "Anvil" perhaps. :lol
