Few questions from n00b...

- What is total assists in combat stats?

- How can I see all of medals not just for individual games?

- If I quit game currently in progress, does it affect my rating/score/reputation etc? I hate sniper game. Once game type and map is selected in matchmaking, there is no way to quit unless it gets vetoed by majority.

1. The number of times you attempted to kill someone, only to have it stolen by someone else.

Man I've been winning all player matches I've been playing last 2 days :lol :lol

Some people asked me like how long you've been playing Halo and I'm like I bought H2 a couple months back for the first time :lol

Thx for the training in H2 raYne :P

Certain aspects of the game look great, but Valhalla and most of the weapon models look straight out of Halo 2.

High Ground looks amazing though, Snowbound is pretty average looking.
Vahalla looks like Halo 2?

Assists is when you shoot an enemy and then someone else finishes up the kill.

Don't think you can see all medals.

If you quit the game it affects your rating. You lose 2 rating points for quitting I believe (and get 1 for winning).

i think i just had my first authentically good slayer game: http://www.bungie.net/Stats/GameStatsHalo3.aspx?gameid=2387886&player=Drohne

partly it's that my opponents sucked as much as i do, but partly it's that i decided to really think about my approach: go for the weapons i like (twin smgs or spikers, carbine), stay at an appropriate range instead of rushing in and praying for a kill, work out good angles of approach instead of following the red dots. i found myself actually surviving and racking up a couple sprees -- maybe i'm not a completely hopeless fps player. of course i'll get two kills my next game and feel like an idiot, but i think i'm starting to see how this works.

I pretty much had the exact same experience today.

Also I got on Halo 2 today at a friend's request to play a few games with him. Now I want every single person who is calling Halo 3 Halo 2.5/Halo 2 HD to go play Halo 3 for an hour, then go play Halo 2 for an hour, and tell me Halo 2 does not look like ASS. Seriously. Even in it's beta state it looks wayyyy better than 2, especially in the details, lighting, and textures.

I don't think anyone knows how any of the ranking systems really work.

Plus you didn't make your question prominent.

Ok well it wouldn't hurt to be like "I'm not really sure" or something instead of skipping over mine and then immediately answering the next guys.

I'm still confused on how RP and the new skill thing work. A few games in a row now I've played 4th and 5th respectively yet each time my "skill" rating has gone up? Can anybody explain this I'm really confused lol.
All that's really known about the rating systems is here.

Experience and Rating Points (RP)

One of Halo 2’s defining features was its ability to match players of similar skill levels, for the most enjoyable possible games, with the fairest outcomes. Although it was a success, we’ve used that experience and data to build an even better, more accurate, and fairer system, that will ensure even more balance, better matching and less cheating and abuse than ever before.

We measure both skill level and experience (in the Beta, this experience is signified by "RP" standing for Rating Points) in our Matchmaking system. Some players are destined to become pros, while others will prefer to haunt the middle ranks and enjoy the game just for fun. But we’ll reward every player with experience Rating Points (RP) - earned for time served in Halo 3 Matchmaking. Progress from raw recruit to decorated officer, a reward for good sportsmanship and yet another way for us to make sure games are evenly matched.

Wherever people see your Gamertag in Halo 3, they’ll also see your universally visible experience "RPs" and their associated rank status (Sergeant, for example). They’ll have an instant feel for how long you’ve been playing – and how that compares to your relative skill level in a given playlist. Someone with lots of RPs and a low Matchmaking skill level, might simply be new to that specific matchmaking playlist. Knowing that is the key to knowing your enemy. The layers of complexity we’ve built into the system should make it better and less prone to abuse than ever, while simultaneously enriching the player experience.

Last match: Territories on Valhalla

Next up: Territories on Valhalla

I love you, Valhalla!

Edit: Now VIP on Valhalla!

Valhalla gets a lot of hate/vetoes, but if you have two teams of 4 good people it's almost as good as Highground imo.

Just played some lagtacular on Valhalla and got destroyed. I got caught in a mancannon for about thirty seconds, just repeating a two second loop again and again. Amazingly, the other team seemed to have great connections when it came time to talk shit in the lobby. :lol

I really don't see that much hate on Valhalla when I play. Most of the bitching I've heard has come from 1up guys because "the map is too big."

For Team Slayer, it is a bit too big

... I was just playing a rumble pit and all of a sudden my xbox just died. Please don't be permanently broken, otherwise I'm blaming Halo 3 for my broken xbox :(

it gets a lot of heat from people on Xbox Live.

I've never seen anyone complain about Valhalla being too big. I like it on pretty much any gametype and its never felt too big for me, but then again I'm a big fan of larger maps.

imo halo 3 looks really nice in screens, where you can appreciate the lighting on its spartans and the detail of its various surfaces, but when you're actually playing it doesn't strike you as a very pretty game. campaign should have some impressive moments, if only because the pacing will be such that you can have a look around.

they don't even complain about it being too big, they'll just start screaming "Veto it, this map sucks, veto it!" or something to that effect.

I personally like all the maps.

I don't mind Valhalla, but I absolutely loathe Territories. And I love VIP on Snowbound, but it's awful on Valhalla (at least with the current player limit) because everyone just hides in the bottom of their base and nothing happens the whole game - boring.

In fact the entire Team Skirmish/Training playlist sucks. 75% of the games are Territories and everyone hates them. It gets vetoed every single time within 2 or 3 seconds, but most of the time it picks another territories game anyway. Ugh. Team Slayer games need to be removed from that playlist entirely, it already has it's own dedicated playlist.

Plenty of fun modes they can do, but there's no variety currently. I played Oddball maybe two times so far for example. High Ground is awesome but seems the most rare map. Blah. I hope now that Bungie is getting statistics on what is being vetoed they will improve the playlists to perfection. With Halo 3 supporting custom games now, it's important to keep people happy otherwise they'll abandon matchmaking completely.

*end rant*

I got standby'd or something but I watch this one guy jump up and down on my screen like Noob Saibot's Fatality, for lack of a better description.

I'm not sure if this is standby but sometimes the host gets a 30 second headstart and gets 2 kills when everyone is loading O_o

The game is quite nice looking, but due to how frantic it is and how fast everyone is moving, it's hard to appreciate how good it looks.

A couple of pics off my TV:

I don't think there is any actual stand-bying at this point, just random network bugs. One time we all went into the blue screen after our teammate left, and after waiting for about a minute my friend asks what we are doing and says he can walk around etc, while my other teammate and I are stuck in the blue screen. And I know this person in person and know he would not stand-by.

Hmm I was playin a Rumble Training match and after the game someone asked me if I was from GAF and they mentioned that they saw my GT here but I guess they don't post on the forum?

Creepy:lol
