The Halo 3 Beta Thread

I was watching with my own music and I was waiting for TEH FUNNYYY for a good 2 minutes, then I found out there was none. :(

Yup, I've stuck it with plasma more than once and had it keep on driving as if had just run over a small speed bump. Can be kind of annoying to get the stick and not get the satisfaction of having the hog explode. And even when it does react, plenty of times, it just goes tumbling and all the passengers stay alive, which makes no sense. I can see the hog staying intact, but the passengers, all three feet or less from a plasma nade. Nope, they should be toast.

Well, the funny bit is at the end, so if you only watched two minutes, then yeah, you missed the best part. But, eh, I get paid either way.

Had that happen too, but it makes a little more sense, especially if you tag the turret guy or something like that.
 
I started a match at High Ground with 9 straight kills. Unfortunately, my team was awful, and I only ended with 12, and our team lost.

I'll post my stats (K/D Spread) when I'm happy with them.

The Warthog isn't that bad. A sniper can take the gunner out, you can flip it with grenades, a Brute Shot, a Rocket Launcher...The Laser can take it out...Or even Land Mines. There's many ways you just can't charge it with nothing but the Assault Rifle.
 
The turret in the Warthog seems more powerful, at least to me.

I've been gunning down people left and right with it in Valhalla. Of course, works best with a suitable driver.
 
Last night I had a great team together for Slayer matches on Valhalla. It is awesome seeing your "front" spread across the middle of the map, pointing out enemies, vehicles and weapons, calling for help, trying to keep everyone covered by at least one other person. When it works out right it is an amazing feeling.
 
I would like to get into team games. See I've always been a solo person when it came to FPS, but I feel as if I'm missing the "other" half of Halo by just playing Rumble Pit/Training.

I would like to play with people from GAF. I think that is the reason I'm not into team games. Because I always get stuck with some random "give me my f***in' chocolate milk" type kid. Smokey does not get along with those types of idiots.

So is anybody willing to accept me into a team? I'm looking for a home.

Alright I'll give you a FR. I tried doing it through the computer, but after I put in your GT it wouldn't show it as "pending" when I went to my FL. In fact it wasn't there at all which is weird.

I love the lighting, think the water is good not great, and for the most part think the textures are okay. I'm pretty sure there are undisclosed things about MP that will change the dynamics, and that makes me bite my tongue and not be too critical. But I'm just not wowed like I thought I would be. I wouldn't say I'm disappointed, more like fretful.

the water is bloody AMAZING. have you spent much time checking it out? not only is it fully 3d (most games use shaders on a flat surface to appear 3d), but the way it interacts with objects is astounding. park a mongoose or hog in it and watch the water flow around it. shoot bullets into it and there is a realistic splash AND 3d ripples. i cant even think of another game with water that interracted with the game world to the extent of halo 3

ESDIT: that video is just :lol funny! thats why the hog kicks so much ass, people just keep blindly charging it when your cruising in one!!!

I normally play with Gowans and crew, but I'm frequently looking for team members when they aren't on. I'm not very good, but you're welcome to FR me.

SOMEBODY please tell me, why can't i jack vehicles? I've died so many times trying to it that I feel I missed something. Was any thing ever said about this? Any info would greatly be welcomed.

You can jack vehicles, it's just like Halo 2 in that regard. So far I've boarded a couple of Ghosts and a Warthog seat, no ATV's yet.

Just press and hold RB.

Cool. I may be on or may not because the Cavs and Pistons play tonight. Depending on how good of a game it is will determine if I get some play time with the Beta today.

What do you guys usually play? Team Skirmish, Team slayer or a mixture?
 
I think it's crucial that Bungie test out Big Team Battle before this beta is over.

If 4v4 games with two vehicles are already suffering from spates of lag (some minor, some bad), then how is the game going to handle 8v8 games with ground and air vehicles?

Reminds me of when I Power-Drained a Ghost, and it just dropped to the ground with the guy in it, and I was just watching the guy twisting and turning in the Fhost, no doubt wondering "WTF is going here"? :lol

Can you imagine the strategy of Power-Draining a dominating Wraith or Scorpion, then jacking/sniping the driver? Good stuff...
 
They also need to do something about those ledges on Vallhala where you can pretty much spawn camp and pick people off with the sniper. That shit gets on my nerves and I hope they do something about those 2 ledges before the game hits.

its funny, people rarely seem to go for the power drainer, but its always among my top priorities to grab. its a god send against vehicles or packs of enemies. its virtually a guarenteed kill (or 2/3) if you dont blow it somehow. its even great in ctf to defend as well as attack the flag. cant tell you how many times i've had all my defending teammates killed when i tossed that sucker at the flag perch to keep the attacking team at bay till my teammates could respawn to help defend. its so awesome

I'm looking forward to tagging a Banshee with an overcharged plasma pistol shot and dropping it from the sky. You just know at some point that will happen - and the Banshee will land on some poor soul.

I've used it to kill the VIP on Snowbound several times in the same game. Knowing they go from feeling safe and confident to naked and exposed in the moment before you drop'em is a wonderful thing.

LOLZ! No wonder, I kept pressing the Y button:lol Well that is how you get into vehicles now. All those unintended deaths.

If you board the passenger local of the vehicle, press B to attack the driver.
