Probably due to the pause between trigger pulls. With the BR, there is a moment to reaquire your moving target before the next pull. With the carbine, it's a more rapid fire and you are adjusting the aim simultaneously, leading to more misses. But if you do land, it's lethal. Probably best to go to the body until shields are drained before going up top for the headshot.

Ah I'll try that. Cause you are right I find I miss way too many headshots with it.

Needler is powered up for sure. Throw grenades at your opponents feet, or, if they are standing near a wall, try to lob them into the nearby geometry for a bounce. It's also a good tactic to wait until you have two or more players engaging before you reveal yourself by tossing a grenade. If you're about to die, throw one at your own feet and try to snag a kill from beyond the grave.

The BR is much more forgiving due to the three-shot spray. If you are sweeping your target while firing, at least one or two shots will connect. No such forgiveness from the Carbine.

The Assault Rifle is automatic.

You get points for winning. You lose points for losing. It's weighted depending on the skill level of the other players. If you lose to someone three skill levels higher than your own, you don't lose many points, just as you don't gain many for defeating someone of a lower skill level.

It might be that you are losing to a couple of people of higher rank, yet defeating three other players below you and gaining points for that. If a couple of them are higher rank, then you could still gain a good amount of points. You don't need to take first place to move up skill levels. And you don't need to rank last to lose them.

Now that is certainly possible. I vaguely recall facing off against mostly higher skill rated opponents.

Really, that is some awesome stuff. And how come nobody goes for the rocket launcher on highground except me?

I usually go for it on offense if somebody else is doing the sniping for that round. Rockets don't seem to be as invitive as they were in Halo 2 to some people.

Highest skill I've seen: 50.
Highest military rank I've seen: Commander.

I'm a 47 and a Major so most of the people I play are pretty high.
 
I'd take the B Rife over the carbine anyday. Pretty certain it will drop you faster than the carbine when you go for headshots (about three bursts to the head) plus its easier to get headshots with it.

Carbine can overwhelm you with its rate of fire though in a head to head and you can get flustered, even if you're actually doing comparable damage with the human BR.

I think the carbine is better at closer ranges than the BR, but as the distance widens even slightly to mid range, BR > Carbine.
 
Does anybody know how high the numbered ranks go to? I'm only an 18, would be a hell of a lot higher if I played something other than the god-awful Big Team Training every night.

I could see something like a shotgun counterpart using spikes or something, but I think a clinical weapon would seem out of place for the Brutes.

Don't forget about the Exscavator..... no telling what that is going to be, but I bet its a brute impact weapon.

50. Once you're above 40, when it shows the range of ranks it's looking for it'll only go up to 50. So when I search for Rumble Pit, I can only play against 37-50s.

i keep hearing that fifty is the highest, even for halo 3. so that pretty much the barometer im going off of. im only a 23, so i feel your pain. try rumble pit.

Don't know what you mean about the AR. It's powered up from Halo 1 days, but you have less ammo. If you are in a laggy game, plenty of the rounds may not be connecting.

That said, I seem to have a good amount of success at close range, though I prefer the SMG to the AR for that type of play.

Also, if you're trying to BXR, you're out of luck. And a dick.

I've never played another Halo game in multiplayer, I'm talking about since the Beta began.

It seems like since the start of the beta something's changed. Because I shoot the same amount and hit first (I can hear it sound when it connects) but instead of killing the guy he kills me.

It must be lag.

What's BXR?

Don't bother trying to figure it out. It's fairly complicated to master and it gets you lots of cheating feedback.

And the banshee is only on Valhalla Team Slayer only.

quick question, did they change matchmaking in the past week? I go back to play today and my previous option which was all 4 on 4 objective games unranked is now 12 player objective/team slayer.

also, in my last game, I burst in laughter when I saw a guy stick a grenade to himself by trying to get me in my bubbleshield.

They took out Team Training and added Big Team Training.

Did they remove team rockets from the team slayer playlist?

Also, I used a spare gold account to start fresh at level 1 and own some noobs, and I STILL didn't get a 2:1 kill ratio
 
That vid looks fake.......especially with the Banshee just hovering there waiting for the dude to do it.

Anyone know how far the landmine rolls when it lands after being shot out of the man cannon? Or does it just explode on contact with the ground?
 
Hmm, I don't like 50 being the highest level with how easily I've leveled up. Highest I ever got in Halo 2 was like 35 or something, and anyone in the 40s usually raped me pretty good :lol Of course they are totally different games...
 
hey, just overheard some people on live talking about a killpacolypse gamerpicture. I havent seen it myself though. Has anyone actually gotten a killpacolypse, and if so did you notice any new gamerpictures in your selection?

BTB was ranked a very long time. For over two years, actually. This past update made it unranked.

I got an invincible (30 kills no deaths) but no gamer picture :(
 
Dear Bungie,

Please keep track of the number of times players are "Killed from the grave".

Please at least give the option to not go up in level when one's team wins.

One day I will spawn without an enemy behind me. I will enjoy this feature.
