Yup. It seems to be on a delay. I've put it at people's feet plenty of times and had it not go off.

Only thing that often happens over here, is the mine sticking to vehicles (on the hood or on the bottom of the Warthog, for instance) and exploding at random. Sometimes it does that by itself after a couple of seconds, and sometimes I have to shoot at it myself before it explodes.
 
The trip mine takes a few seconds to become active once it's thrown. It will only explode right away if you throw it and it hits a dude or vehicle before it touches the ground

take into consideration that most tournament Halo 2 players wont play the Beta because they think it will screw with their game.

so there a few thousand players that aren't playing the Beta regularly and whipping everyone's asses.

Most of the top players won't touch Matchmaking anyway. They stay in customs pretty much all the time.

That different type of armor thing is really intereting. Just played for about two hours without a freeze thank God. Hadn't really played in a few days. Had some fun, and some frustration too. As always with Halo sessions. Sick of getting quitters on my team then getting sniped, lasered, rocketed, whatever where I spawn.
 
Got into a BTB territories on Valhalla last night. First thing I did was grab the trip mine, carry it to 2 and drop it on the far side of the flag, the side where the offensive team would pop over the hill. Immediately one of my teammates almost walked into it but backed away quick enough, disaster averted, right? Then a mongoose carrying two more of my teammates came flying up from behind me, where they could easily see the mine, and drove right into it. Triple betrayal and a booted. F me in the A.

Haha, that's some bad luck. I feel you though. I'll warn my mentally retarded team-mates "Look out for the trip mine," and of course they just go "DURRRRRRRR" and walk/drive over it.

Armor customization is awesome. I may just end up making my own Helljumper afterall. :D

Meh at the achievements. Most are to be expected and seem not to ruin the flow of the game.. SP or otherwise. The specific weapon ones aren't too bad either. Nothing like the Gears achievements that helped ruin MP.
 
I was looking around bungie.net for an official thread to comment on the beta. I saw the official bug forum, but I'm not commenting on a specific bug. Is there another thread? Or am I just dreaming since such a thread would be drowned in millions of posts with people like me complaining about random shit.

Oh, and having now played some online Halo multiplayer, I finally understand how bad BXB and BXR were. Before I was just all 'cheating is bad' since I never played Halo 2 online, but having played this beta, I can see how those glitches would totally break the game.

It's not bad considering the first 20 games I kept hitting x to reload like an idiot. I died ALOT starting out. I'm really digging the beta though. It feels alot more balanced than Halo 2 MP did. Not sure what I'm going to do with myself once the beta ends. I was in the Shadowrun beta but I just don't see it having the lasting appeal that Halo does.

Thank God.........Bungie was smart here. I was expecting a lot more achievements with them being similar to GoW where its like "100 Spartan Lazer Kills", etc.......Mad props here.

There was an interview with one of the multiplayer designers of Bungie a long time ago and he said something like "Why do like one game that had an achievement for 100 sniper kills instead of having a game where you have 100 sniper kills in a snipers match"
 
Ok Bungie, you've got to fix the matchmaking.

Every time I start a new game the list gets full of Player Found, and it says Setting Up Match, and then starts all over.

You know, it's fine if matchmaking takes time. I get it. But just don't try to make me think it doesn't.

Mine did that, it was quite annoying. It seems like it's finding all the players, not making a game for them and then booting them back to matchmaking.

H3's more about scale than it is about the number of levels. So I wouldn't be too concerned about game length.

This was because he had a continuous supply of reinforcements using the secondary man cannon to shoot themselves up close to him and guard him.

They've either gotta get rid of the enclaves or change it to where that man cannon doesn't aim directly towards that enclave.

Not nearly as bad as when the VIP gets out of the map and chills back there where nobody can get him. Or when people get out and snipe from back there. Sucks.
 
This is pretty f*cking unfair. We had a really tough match on Territories at High Ground. In the final round we started to win and a bit before the end a dude on the other team decided to quit, sending us to the LOADING screen for nearly five minutes. The game never resumed and I was sent back to lobby. NO POINTS.

I've played on enough winning teams to be a captain and people who don't know how it works are impressed. Then after the match (when I have invariably sucked) I get verbally abused. Woohoo! :(

I got a team of kids should my tag and "quit! quit! quit!" in chorus because they felt I'm dragging them down... I did :-(
 
MMaRsu (gt: MMaRsu NL) and I (gt: Your Arsonist) are looking for a bunch (preferably 4) people to join our Rumble Training matches. I suck (0.8 K/D), MMaRsu's pretty good. We're fun, join us.

That happened to me and some friends twice last night and twice today. BTB apparently still has some issues that need to be worked out.

**** that. You should have charged headlong into the enemy over and over again without trying to fight back. While having all of the good weapons with you too.

I'm pretty amazed at the amount of stuff Bungie let slip through in the beta. I'm hoping the campaign stuff is misdirection but it just doesn't seem to be.

With that said, I'm betting it will be about as long as Halo: CE regardless of the amount of levels, and as long as its an incredibly high quality experience I don't necessarily care how many levels there are or how long the game is as long as its a decent length. It could just mean that each level has a lot more going on in it and that each level is comprised of its own varied environments.

I just played for about another hour and didn't win a single game. I played with a real-life buddy of mine. It's pretty ****ing ridiculous. We get the worst teammates over and over and over. And whenever we did start to win someone on the other team would quit and the game would be dropped because the game can't select a new host or whatever. ****ing pisses me off.

I'll totally do rumble training with you guys. Awesome. Amazing. I'm totally there. Not tonight though, I got a wedding to attend. But I'll shoot off friend requests.

I was just playing in the rumble pit and got a Crazy King match on Valhalla. About half way though the match I saw someone drive away in a warthog while I was nearby, and I was thinking "Man it'd be nice if I could get someone to ride with me, but everyone just grenades the **** outa me if I stop." Fast forward one death later and I get my hands on a Warthog, motoring to the next hill I notice someone walking along, I stop, and he hops right in the turret! We drove around and absolutely annihilated everyone. Held onto about three hills in a row no problem. We very quickly shot up the top on the scoreboard, I was fortunate enough to be a little higher than him already, so I ended up winning. But that man is my hero, I'll have to think of something to make it up to him.

I wouldn't worry too much about the Campaign. Bungie learned quite a bit with Halo 2 and I think they know exactly what they want the Campaign in Halo 3, and what the fans want from the Campaign in Halo 3. I'm definitely excited as hell for it.

Who knows what that really is or if that's the final list or if it's not a red herring planted by Bungie. It really tells us very little and certainly not enough to start being disappointed. Afterall, each "level" could be 3 hours long with several chapters within each. So no, I'm not disappointed.

If it's anything like Halo 1, I'll love it.

Huge map sizes with epic battles. :)

Nine levels, if true, so I like the sound of it.

Hope their red herrings though. Why did it take the Modder so long to find?
 
Are there people on Team Slayer that still kill you if you take the sniper first before they get to it? I had this dumb a** yesterday, first time since the beta was released, melee me in the back b/c I grabbed it way before he did. So after I respawned, hunted him down, shot at him till he almost died but caused him to kill me again. BETRAYL pops up again, eject him. If I knew his name I would def not recommend him. Regardless, we still won!

Yeah, I got betrayed when I grabbed the Laser. It was long after the fact even, it's not as if it were a race, not that it should make a difference. The H3 community is terrible.
