Drakken said:I rented Crackdown to get in on the beta while I still can. Just played a game, and I feel so out of sorts with all these new weapons and grenade types.
Could someone explain to a Halo 2 vet the significant changes?
Also, is it possible for me to set up a custom game by myself so I can get acquainted with the new maps without being killed?
Are you certain about that Mr. Jedi Archives?JdFoX187 said:Oddball and other objects: one melee kill
Assault rifle is now starting weapon. More powerful than SMG. Takes whole clip to kill somebody. Has longer distance than SMG. Pulse fire is best.
Shotgun is more powerful and reliable.
Sword is nerfed. Has battery, only ten kills. Less distance.
Pistol has five shot headshot kills, no scope, slow rate of fire.
Carbine more powerful, same rate of fire, longer distance, larger clip.
Battle rifle is exactly the same.
Sniper rifle has more recoil, longer wait in between shots, less aim assist.
Beam rifle is same except less aim assist and less shots. Only ten shots in beam.
Rockets don't lock on, have smaller splash area.
Laser is your friend. Takes five seconds to charge up but instant kill on all vehicles and people.
SMG more powerful up close. Brute Spiker is very powerful up close. Use both in close combat dual wielding.
Brute shot actually sends people flying. Doesn't bounce, has more rounds, more powerful.
Plasma and frag are same if not a little less powerful. Brute grenade sticks to anything, shoots spikes out.
Glowing blue ball is power drainer. It drains shields of anybody near and will kill them.
Octagon glowing orange thing is trip mine, destroys all vehicles and people who touch it or get near it after deployed.
Glowing purple thing is a grav lift. Deploy it to be able to fly up higher and get over obstacles.
Long round silver thing is bubble shield. Deploy it to put an impregnable shield around you. But vehicles and people can come through.
Needler is more powerful and has faster rate of fire.
I think that's about it.

Well I didn't explain anything about the vehicles.Mr Vociferous said:Are you certain about that Mr. Jedi Archives?

Really retarded, afk, and/or quitters. I think I'm done with btb. :lol It's fun and tense when you can get two really good teams going, but that's only the case 1 out of 20 matches. I think I'm just gonna go to slayer for a while. I was never a big slayer fan because I like team based and objective filled games, but it's nice not having to worry about the rest of your team being full of retards or quitters. You don't have to depend on people to win...'cept oddball and KotH. People are still stupid about meeting objectives rather than just killing. Luckily, you can exploit their retardation for wins. ;bRamirez said:Ranked BTB is so ****ing AWFUL, my teammates are really ****ing retarded.

Just descriptions/pics of a few levels not in the Beta. All of which (pics) include Spartans with various custom suit combinations.GhaleonEB said:The Halo 3 cover will force me to buy an issue of that magazine. I feel so dirty.
Anything that hasn't been reported?
Just as long as there is one sword and one shotgun. I'd hate to have a sword and then try to jump everybody and they all have shotguns.raYne said:Just descriptions/pics of a few levels not in the Beta. All of which (pics) include Spartans with various custom suit combinations.
Everything else is pretty much been covered.
edit:
Oh, and remade Zanzibar is among those maps as well. Plus they mention something about the shotgun being the sword counter... and that it "blasts you out of your pounce attack". Not sure it they meant like it always did. Or that it actually stops the attack now (which would be awesome).
Tweaked or not, sword users deserve death by a thousand shotgun shells.JdFoX187 said:Just as long as there is one sword and one shotgun. I'd hate to have a sword and then try to jump everybody and they all have shotguns.
I've used the sword a lot in Halo 2. I don't buy into all the talk that it's a cheap weapon. If anything, the people that teabag me and call me a sword whore, then pick it up themselves are the ones who deserve the death by a thousand shotgun shells. It was overpowered in Halo 2 but was still defeatable.raYne said:Tweaked or not, sword users deserve death by a thousand shotgun shells.
In any case, I've had multiple times in the Beta where more than one of normally singular weapons would show up on the map at one time. Multiple snipers, lasers, shotguns etc. If I recall, someone at Bungie said the same would be true in the full game. That they're trying different ways to minimize the weapon hoarding aspect of the MP game.

Gears of Wha?urk said:What do you think of Gears of War?
I don't mind old arguments, but I'll only say that the sword is like the shotgun, except aiming is easier and you get a one hit kill a much higher percentage of the time.raYne said:That leading to,

If it wasn't cheap it would be exactly the same in 3 as it was in 2. But lets not get into old arguments.
Thermite said:I must have missed the thread Urk is talking about, the box art looks pretty good to me.
All of the weapons, with the exception of the battle rifle, were tweaked somewhat going from Halo 2 to Halo 3. It was overpowered, but I would hardly call it cheap. Players can make it cheap by camping in areas all the time and just using it like that. But I was always on the go with it and usually carried a battle rifle on me, only using the sword when I was up close. There were counters to it. If anything, I'd call snipers more cheap than sword. Camp at the other side of the map, away from danger and just kill people.raYne said:That leading to,

Yes, I do like how they have your secondary weapon visible now. And you also have to wait a moment between pulling out the sword and using it. That should cut down on a lot of people killing others with the sword as soon as they happen onto them.urk said:It should definitely feel less like a blindside now that you can see the sword before it's out and ready to use. I think it did break that "rock, paper, scissors" feel Halo has going in the multiplayer arena when used by a skilled player.
