The Halo 3 E3 Campaign Trailer

Bungie and microsoft caught napping it seems. That other game really does what Halo 3 should have - gritty textures and an obscene amount of film grain.
...ehh..that's like the opposite of what Bungie is trying to or should do

Pristine textures and reflections have no place in a game like halo. They said themselves that Halo 3 was the final battle and that you should be able to see that the chief has been through some heavy battles before.

It makes me sick to see anyone defend bungie. Push the bar for gods sake, like you did with Halo CE.

The trailer was really badly paced and edited but watching it in HD and taking it scene by scene the game looks phenomenal. :D Can't wait.

Crisp textures and excellent visibility are more appealing to me to be honest.
That was exactly how I felt. It took me a little while to figure out what I didn't like about it - the Halo 2 TV spot and Halo 3 announcement trailer pack a punch because of their timing and editing. I think this is a great visual showcase, and the stuff shown in terms of gameplay and environments is great, but the editing was off in the middle section. Excellent first 40 seconds and final 30, a bit off-key in the middle.

But looking at the shots above, I'm really impressed. These in particular are beautiful (depspite the detail lost in the captures):

So you hate killzone 2 ? the best looking game other than crysis ?

Film grain and gritty textures are the shit.
I think the style Halo 3 has suits it much better than a Killzone imitation. The game looks nice and crisp with plenty of colors, I think it looks great.

Yeah it really lacked the build up of the music and action. I can only imagine a recut trailer will appear before release to set things right.

This reminded me of the opening scene to T3. I later realized that the ships were scorching the earth, rather than just flashing lights to look for enemies. Very Wars of the Worlds-like too...

This is like the shark eating its own borthers and sisters in the mothers belly. Dont you guys know i have always been an xbot ? :lol

I know that. I just don't think it fits this game. Killzone takes place in a mostly urban environment. It has a post-apocalyptic look to it. It doesn't really fit with Halo.

The whole thing looks really impressive graphically, I really don't know what people are going on about. Further the lighting is also top notch throughout the trailer. You can bitch about the quality of the trailers direction but graphically saying its not imprressive confuses me.

It's a bit strange. I think I liked what I saw, but it hasn't really left a lasting impression in my mind like it should.

Makes the New Mombasa incident look like an indoor firework! :D

The game looks AMAZING graphically... but the trailer sucked balls.

Sorry.

Plus I thought we were going to get a live demo... so I am pretty pissed.

I really, really loved this scene:

One thing I like about Halo's art style is that in some parts it looks almost like a painting, and this definitely has that look to it.

I think the best way to describe its graphics would be "beautiful", as Ghaleon put it.

It looks great, but nothing mind blowing. The trailer is a little underwhelming.

The trailer is underwhelming, but the game itself looks amazing. I was expecting a trailer which may have revealed a little more background to the game, and something a little more cinematic. But oh well, the game still looks friggin awesome

Graphics and gameplay look brilliant to me but the trailer wasn't the best mate. And I also think it may have revealed a wee bit much.

Looks great, and has that epic Halo feel. I dunno what else you guys want from a trailer.

Exactly. We know Bungie are very careful with what they reveal, so you can't expect much more than some choice shots of pretty scenery and frantic battles.

The music though ... dear god, the music! :D

Is the trailer for Halo 3 and Halo Wars off the marketplace for anyone else? My downloads finally got to those and they are now "gone".

Quoting myself due to the importance of this question to me.....Can someone check? Were they only going to have it up for 8hours or something? I hope it's not gone. :(

Halo 3 is, don't know about Halo Wars.

Thanks for the reply. :)

Well he did deserve it, regardless of your position - attacking people with a different one with personal insults isn't acceptable, and there are many examples in this thread.

Bungie should give the guy who created the Halo music free blowjobs for life. I have never heard better or more fitting music for a game.....ever.

How the HELL can some of you watch that and say you're underwhelmed? Holy SHIT that trailer was AWESOME! It had everything I wanted to see! I mean its not supposed to be a 5 minute video of somebody playing the campaign, its a TRAILER. Its supposed to be a montage of footage. It totally delivered and it was awesome. I've never felt like a bigger Halo fan than I do right now.

Heh - something was running through my mind, and I played the video again and I was right... :)

Seems like we saw Campaign stuff from as early as the Multiplayer ViDoc after all - remember that one shot on a screen of the back of a Warthog on this long road with a tunnel that a few assumed was Warthog Inc. or something? Well, if you pause the trailer at 1:39 at the right time as the scene with MC swinging around with the Warthog full of Marines is about to end, you'll see that it's the exact same area!

I think that's what many of us were expecting :P

Does the Arbiter join the Chief this early on in the game? I was under the impression Johnson, Miranda and the Arbiter would do their stuff for a while, thousands of light years away and then finish the fight on Earth.

The trailer shows a tremendous graphical update in contrast to the beta. Thumbs up, Bungie!

I was bant when the Beta dropped, what was the general opinion of that graphically compared to this?

Graphically, the rainforest is stunning; lets hope they've got a multiplayer map based of that level.

It's overall moodier in the Campaign footage. The MP is more... spartan.

Music's great as usual but I don't know, the trailer didn't impressed me that much. There's also some jerky-like animation on the human characters but it could be from my player.

Wow, I didn't expect the Arbiter & Chief to fight together. I wonder how early in the game they meet up? If you play as the Arbiter in co-op, maybe quite early?

I don 't know what to believe! Should I believe the big ass images that don't look very good, or the smaller captures that look quite nice? I hope the game looks like those images that were released a few days ago. Those were too sweet.

graphically looked great but didn't have the rhythm of the first trailer--bad editing? it seemed like it was quick put together right before the conference.

Sterile environments. Lacking in animation. Re-visited color-palettes and artstyle (which I wasn't very fond of to begin with)

The trailer was quite lackluster. I know they didn't want to reveal anything about the story but the approach was all wrong. As aforementioned, it looks like it was a slapped together fanmade movie, like the million of AMV's on Youtube. I'll still purchase the game as I'm a sucker for the story and campaign in general for most FPS'.

Yeah, my only gripe with it is the editing. It didn't looks like a professional trailer. The game looks awesome though. Not the best graphics EVAR, but it didn't have to be.
