The Halo 3 E3 Campaign Trailer

edit: plus the KZ2 trailer was a lot better made than the spliced together Halo 3 one. WHY DIDN'T YOU SHOW THE DEMO BUNGIE. WHY.

Hopefully they will show it. If they do show it and its not some murky crap capture and looks as good as people say, I predict a lot of 500 errors.

Well, for people watching and not playing, graphics matter more. I am 90% sure Halo 3 will be more fun (for me at the very least, since I want to finish the series which I love so much), but the whole excitement about the Killzone 2 trailer set Sony and MS fanboys into a frenzy.

Bungie want to test the loyalty of their fans.

Anyway, to get back on topic, I, like others, am still searching for that sense of 'scale'. Some of the cut-scenes hint at it, but that jungle level clearly isn't.

Despite the Brute vidoc and this latest footage, I am not particularly enamored with those Brute designs. I think I prefer the scruffy Brutes from Halo 2. Maybe it will take some time to get used to. Unfortunately, the quick, random editing in the Halo 3 video doesn't really show off any clever AI to make these Brutes 'worthy adversaries.'

Cortana looks like those silent movie actresses with white powder on. I don't know what went on there.

But aside from all of that, I actually like most of what I see from a gameplay standpoint, being a die hard Halo 1 player and all. Fighting some Elites wouldn't hurt though.

P.S. I like colors in most of my games.

I think you can see some of the scale in the scarab shots, like when he takes it down. And nobody said we wouldn't ever fight the Elites.

They keep changing Cortana's look, it's so annoying! I personally enjoyed her Halo 1 face the most. I guess it's nostalgia, though.

I'm still not convinced that the cinematics will be a huge step above Halo 2's like Bungie is promising. Aside from the music and plot advancement, Halo's cinematics never really WOWed me, especially in terms of animation and facial expression. I guess being a huge MGS fan is factors into that, though. They should try and copy the blur effect Kojima uses in all his cutscenes, and maybe find a way to smooth out that mo-cap. I think I'm asking for too much, however. :(

:lol :lol :lol You being 25 and all and being impressed with the words "****" in a video game says it all. You're a grown man with a mind of a teenage boy that wants to grow up. Loser.

The scale is large by the fact that you fight dozens to hundreds of enemies at a time on a giant playing field miles in diameter. In addition, being able to take a banshee from a battle on the ground to join a battle in space is pretty impressive.

Yeah, it's like saying rap is a mature music than classical symphony because rap has sexual innuendos and adult language.

It was nothing like that Halo 2 demo walkthrough. They should have seriously just used the one after the show instead.
I do agree that they should have had the on-stage demo of Halo 3 during the conference. That's what everyone wants to see.

The Killzone unveiling was the first we've seen of that game, ever. We've gotten a steady stream of media from Halo 3 for a year now, and have played the game. Of course it's going to come out with a splash. The fact that it looks great (though with a very different scale than Halo 3) of course helps. :p

Not to mention that some of the conceptual art of weapons and characters is superb. That's why i loved Killzone 1 while people ragged on it.

I think they should have invited me out and let me play it on stage. On a toilet. It would have been majestic.

Not to mention Sony
and Wollan
totally did a great job hyping the game up. Just look at the damn Killzone threads. :lol

looks like we will indeed be fighting some Elites.

Though the opening level lacks what Bungie's Frank O'Connor said are the large-scale vehicle battles of later levels, it still packed an intense amount of action as the Master Chief and his friends battle their way through waves of opponents that included grunts, brutes, and what looked like to be some elites. The presence of the grunts and elites alongside the brutes is a bit puzzling considering the fractured state of the Covenant at the end of Halo 2, so we imagine that the answers are to be found in the exposition that we skipped over.

I would have had to been on stage with my fold out chair, in my boxers, house slippers on and a wife-beater. THAT is the only way I play Halo

So how it looks is a question that's undoubtedly a question on millions of Halo fans' minds. Keep in mind that after some grumbling by fans about the graphics in the recent multiplayer beta, Bungie stressed that what was seen did not represent the final look of the game. Well, what we saw wasn't quite final, but the graphics were undeniably better and more advanced than those seen in the beta. The game pops out right at you. The visuals are clear and crisp, as well as bright and colorful. There's a lush quality to the forest gully, with lots of ground clutter and towering trees. Most noticeable is the almost lifelike sunlight poring through the forest canopy. Halo 3 makes considerable use of high-dynamic range lighting so that shadows look dark, but at the same time, sunlight looks almost saturated. The animations and character models are also well done. The Master Chief encountered alien brutes in green camouflage armor that looks really cool and plausible, and it's possible to strip a brute of his armor with gunfire or explosions.
Ah shit. I was hyped for this game.

:(

I'll play Halo 3 like the way Ghaggidy play his gamecube. In my basement, with a 14 inch tube, a small matt and pillow, and a picture of Marty on the faded wall.

Don't kill me.

That would make a great photoshop

Because MS had to show love to other games. If they did a prolonged demo of Halo 3 then the rest of the press conference would have been drowned out. Not saying that MS happy with how the press conference worked out, but they made the decision they felt best. In the long run will mean diddly squat anyway.

I am going to start with 1000. Whoever posts next should be 999. If it reaches 0 and the podcast is still not here. I am jumping ship into gray, brown, murky water.

1727, damn that's going to take forever. This thread needs to be killzoned.

For the record guys, Teletubbies are ****ing awesome. My two year-old is hooked on those colorful little bastards and the show is surprisingly mesmerizing. Honestly, Teletubies is the Halo of shows aimed at toddlers.
I don't see LaLa or PoPo ever running rampant. WORST COMPARISON EVERRR.

Luke, are you ever gonna throw a feed on iTunes?
Or at least do one on a timely basis now?

Yeah we're working out how to do the xml feed now, there's talk of integrating it automatically into our CMS. It will, of course, be on iTunes in the future just figuring out logistics and rather than wait to mess around with that, figured I'd put it up now.

meh!

Sorry, but the gamecube is harbinger of evil. It's like having a priest at Dawkin's marriage.

JK. It's what i wanted.

guys guys guys....
colorfull games were the "thing" back in my day, but many days have since past and my taste for high-rez colorfull happy- shooters changed into something more dark adult looking.

but only one way for hallo3 to sell 5 million, right? selling to teletubbie audience and up. No harm there. business is business.

Transformers movie was also awesome and the marine said "that is WICKED" instead of "that is F*CKed up"

You're argument would make sense if it wasn't for the fact that Halo 3 is rated Mature.

What is your problem man? So your saying that Halo 3 has a varied colour scheme because they are trying to keep the age rating low? :lol
