Transformers Blu-ray is good, two thumbs up. Great sound, great picture, great case. Don't really care about the BD Live stuff, think its just silly stuff. It may be something if they start putting newer stuff up later like a Transformers 2 trailer or something substantial.

So I just realized I haven't purchased a BD since Blade Runner came out... any recommendations? I like most things.

Looks like Transformers BD did get a different compression of the video after all, with a higher bitrate, resulting in some minuscule differences from HDDVD version, like eliminating what tiny little macroblocking was on some action shots.

There's some discussion and screenshots here:

One of my most anticipated Blu-Ray titles at the moment is Kill Bill. It really is a visually stunning movie.

Me too, can't wait. Although I watched both parts on DVD recently, I love them too much.

Yeah, I love the way those movies were shot, but I'm really torn if I should upgrade my DVDs or not since the Blu-ray releases look so bare bones feature wise. I'll probably crack if I can get a good deal on the pair, but I'm really going to do my best to hold out for the Whole Bloody Affair.

Has anyone seen The Prestige on Blu Ray? if so, hows the quality/extra features?

Pic quality is pretty damn good, looks sharp as hell. Extra features are a bit meh, just a standard 20 minute documentary and a few other things.

It looks really great. Disney almost always does a great job (the reason why I don't worry much about Kill Bill)

Does anyone else use Blockbuster Online? I'm having issues where I get an error anytime I try to visit the queue. I don't know if it's just me. Maybe it's time to bail back to Netflix.

WHERE IS MY ROME BLU RAY, HBO? :(
I`ve been rewatching the DVDs, and this fuckawesome series desperately needs HD quality. They released Sopranos already, and there is a page for it on Amazon but no release date. Anyone know anything about this?

I use it and I'm having no issues with my queue.

Well, you could get the first two Terminator films. :)

I have T2. Need to get T1 at some point. But they really should put The Abyss, Titanic and Cameron's documentaries on BD. D:

I will hold my breathe for Lord of the Rings.

2011 is a LONG time to hold your breath to.

New Line/Warner MAY release bare bones discs before then; but Jackson and his DVD producer have been working on the 10th Anniversary HD MEGASPLOOGE set since 2005 and it won't be released until the 10th Anniversary of Fellowship of the Ring in 2011.

Well, good thing I'm not a Lord of the Rings fan.

what site?

movietyme.com. UK import site. If they're shipping direct from the US it won't be here until next week, but there is a chance they bulk ship some preorders and post on from the UK

Thanks. That sucks and it doesn't matter which computer I log in from. grrrr.

btw, I saw Dude, Where's My Car BD. Crap movie, but the best part was a fricking DODGEBALL HD trailer!!! That hasn't been announced yet, has it? I love that movie, definitely double dipping on that one. Hopefully they put more effort into the extras than they did for Dude.

Universal has announced it is bringing Eminem's motion picture debut '8 Mile' to Blu-ray this Fall.

Marking the rapper's first appearance on high-def, the $125 million-grossing drama will hit Blu-ray on November 18. (Universal previously released the title on DVD in 2002.)

Tech specs will see a BD-25 single-layer presentation with 1080p video and English DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround. Optional French and Spanish DTS 5.1 Surround tracks are also included, along with English, French and Spanish subtitles.

Extras are slim, with the "Making of 8 Mile" featurette, uncensored "Rap Battles," and a music video.

Suggested retail price for the Blu-ray has been set at $29.98.
another fucking 25GB disc from Universal.

How do I use the "resume play" function on the PS3? Transformers does not have this? I remember that Blade Runner does have this. Do I just stop or quit playback and it's supposed to work automatically or do I use some other button to stop play?

BTW The Kingdom made me think of Three Kings, which is definitely one of the best Hollywood movies taking place in the middle east. I want Three Kings instead damnit.

I don't know how many GAFFer's have checked out the Orphanage. I am one of the lucky few with a projection system and a reference sound system to boot. It definetely hits all the cues from being a fantastic techincal presentation to a monumental film.

Its fucking Guillermo del Toro.

I don't get it either. Some BD (and DVDs for that matter) will resume where I left off in the PS3 with no problem, even if I removed the disc at some point and some don't. I put in a DVD of Angel season 5 today and it started in the middle of the eps I had been watching a few months ago, yet some BDs don't resume when I just power off the PS3. I've just assumed it's something with the discs themselves that determines whether or not it resumes but I'd like to know for sure.

BD-Java discs doesn't support the resume function for some reason. Which is kinda weird since I guess most of the future discs will have this feature.

He didn't direct it, only brought it to the US.

Fantastic movie though.

The Orphange - I thought the final act was really hammy and the film's conceit (twist) is stupid. I was so looking forward to this but got a b-grade spanish sixth sensey feature.

What's on everyone purchase horizon:

Mine:

WALL*E
HULK 2008
IRONMAN
SPEEDRACER
KUNGFU PANDA

* edit. I refuse to double dip on older films anymore ... otherwise, I'd buy more stuff. Only buying catalogue stuff I don't own. Makes me somewhat sad, Irobot..etc etc.
