There was an interview with Uma Thurman back in April where she mentioned that production was just wrapping on an anime that goes along with "The Whole Bloody Affair."
Unless I'm crazy – and I'm pretty sure that I'm not – this newly minted animated bit which bridges the two parts has something to do with Go-Go Yubari's sister trashing the Pussy Wagon.

picked up Kill Bill 1 & 2 on BD from Best Buy pricematched to Fry's:

$23.99 each
$10 off when you buy both.
total was $38 + tax

there is also a $10 rebate EACH if you own the original DVD's, bringing it to a total of $18 for both copies.

Question- The rebate asks for the UPC barcode of the DVD's and BD's. I don't want to cut anything from my BD, is a photocopy of the UPC sufficient?

Just found this out now, but Transformers the animated movie was released on Blu-Ray. Only in the UK though >:(

Figured this would be the case after the videogame got delayed until next year. Should be a nice 25th anniversary for the franchise through.

All I really want from this box set outside of the revamped picture quality in HD, is a killer special feature list for the GBII. That movie just doesn't get the respect that it diserves by fans or Sony.

There were so many scenes deleted from the final film that I hear that if it were to be re-edited together, then GBII would be an entirely different movie...

-Rick Morranis' side story trying to catch Slimer in the firehouse.
-A possessed Ray drives the ECTO-1A out of control through New York.
-GBs meet Louis' cousin Sherman Tully at a hospital (played by Eugene Levy).
-Extended scene outside the museum with the Mayor and firefighters near the end.
-Extended celebration ceremony outside the restored Statue of Liberty.

Details here: http://spookcentral.cjb.net/gb2_deleted.htm

I've been looking for a review, too. If it's a good as the Fallen Angels and Chungking restorations were, I'll be all over it.

Fallen Angels is on Bluray already? wat.

edit - oh ya, the Kino release forthcoming...

On the contrary, all I really want out of Ghostbusters in HD is the option of only buying the first one. And a decent boxart that isn't covered in green or awful actor shots... how hard is it to make a black cover with just the god damned logo on it?

it already has. There's a modchip out for a samsung bluray player that makes it region free.
Thats not easy enough and theres too much of a chance of it going wrong. At this point in dvds life I could go to any hifi store and get players from good manufacturers (Denon, Marantz ect) unlocked from new.

That sounds right. I remember hearing she was originally intended to be following the bride in an ice cream truck through out the film (and I think you can hear it in a couple of scenes).

The Godfather set has dropped to $61.95 on Amazon -- cheaper than the SD release -- if anyone's been holding out for a better price.

Back up to $88 now

There's a few more I want to get yet like Sahun of the Dead and Sky Captain, etc, etc.

There's a LOT of users selling off old stock for about 7$-$10 a piece, imports, etc as well.

Picked up "The Fall" today. Waiting till later in the week to watch.
I'm really on the fence about this movie. Should I watch it, much less buy it? It was rated poorly by at least half the critics, even though some notable ones, like Ebert, liked it. Is the movie really so mediocre, or was it the case of "That guy made The Cell, this is going to suck as well" mentality?

Buy it. It's great.

Shawshank got delayed :(

Warner has unveiled final specs and box art for 'The Shawshank Redemption,' which will now hit Blu-ray in early December, one month later than previously expected.

Originally scheduled for Blu-ray release on November 4, Warner has now officially assigned the title a new date of December 2, a postponement of nearly a month.

The BD-50 dual-layer presentation will feature 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video, English and French Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround tracks, and additional Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround dubs in Spanish, Portuguese, and Thai.

Extras will mirror the previous standard DVD special edition, with audio commentary by director Frank Darabont, a pair of documentaries, a still gallery, additional storyboards, a "Charlie Rose Show" interview with Darabont and star Morgan Freeman, and the theatrical trailer.

The Blu-ray will also come housed in warner's Digi-Book packaging, which includes a collectible booklet with rare photos, production notes and other archival materials.

Tech specs will see a BD-50 dual-layer presentation with 1080p video and Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround audio.

Finally, Warner has issued the final box art for 'The Shawshank Redemption':

As previously announced, Warner has set the suggested retail price for the Blu-ray at $34.95.

I saw Baby Mama last night. The first Universal movie I've seen on Blu Ray. It was........weird seeing the Universal menu playing on my Ps3, and not seeing the long HD DVD intro right after the Universal logo plays out. But yeah, the menu worked great, more responsive than I remember on the Xbox HD DVD player or my Toshiba A3. The U-Control also worked exactly as it did on HD DVD. The movie itself didn't look very good (it's a comedy, meh), and the sound was TrueHD, much better than Uni's DD Plus HD DVD offerings, but on this movie in didn't matter.

So I just picked up Sarah Connor Chronicles Season 1 and Pan's Labyrinthe on BD. Is there any word of Grindhouse coming to BD by any chance?

Death Proof and Planet Terror have both been announced for release in December, but no plans for them together as Grindhouse. Fuck the Weinsteins.

That's probably a good thing because I only really care about Planet Terror. Deathproof had some hot chicks, but overall I didn't enjoy the movie.

For those of you buying Iron Man, bluray.com has a glowing review up of the set.

I'm definitely buying it. There is a standalone BD that's not special edition though right? That's all I've seen is the $40 one.

Watched No Country for Old Men on BluRay last night.

Awesome until the irritating execution of the ending - as I'm sure has been discussed many times. Gah.

UK gaffers can get a free bluray by signing up to the free 14 day trial of Tesco DVD rental service: Link

Thik I will go for Cloverfield, NCFOM's ending just killed it for me. (and yes I get the message of the film yadda yadda)

I dont' see what's wrong with this? What exactly are you complaining about? Both movies are so terrrible anyhow.

hes complaining because Grindhouse contained several awesome fake movie trailers but when they released the movies seperate they cut all that good stuff out.

So, I received Kill Bill v1 and v2 Blu-ray today from Amazon.. and no rebate information whatever. Not even the sticker on the package like I've seen on other retail versions. Anybody who does have that information, is there anything saying a way to find the rebate forms online? Nothing has turned up so far in my quick checking, but I need to look around more.

Also noticed that the back of the box doesn't list all of the different subtitle languages that are available. Was glad to see that Japanese subs were indeed still intact (for my wife's benefit).

that tesco thing says not open to any previous customer of any lovefilm powered site :/ I'm a lovefilm customer.

Might try it anyway, even though I have all of those blurays apart from NCFOM. Anyone know which of those is region free (I have a region A PS3)?

I loved Deathproof until it stopped being a slasher flick and turned into grrl power neofeminist crap two-thirds of the way through.

i fired up Letters from Iwo Jima bluray last night. anybody here seen it? It's rather fascinating so far - hopefully finish it tonight.

Fuck I don't know why but I went on a big blu ray spending spree today and had to hold off from buying a few more.

Amazon 3 for 2:
Hellboy
Men in Black
Knights Tale

Preorder:
Starship Troopers box set 1-3

almost went for Blackhawk Down, Replacement Killers and Vertical Limit on the same deal

had to hold back on Enter The Dragon, Memento, Cloverfield, Batman Begins and Gangs Of New York.

only a friend msning me reigned me in from buying these last discs which are on my "will eventually own anyway" list. I figure I can be patient.

anyone have any thoughts on any of these discs? any not worth bothering with or any you consider buy right nows?

The Amazon pack isn't meant to be elligible for the rebate, but Buena Vista will honor it if you contact them and request a form be sent out.

Cosmic Bus said:
I haven't actually seen the rebate, but I doubt it's good in Canada. None of the previous ones have been, IIRC.

Bummer. Canada gets shaft again. I'll wait for them to be on sale.

My copy of Iron Man BD has been shipped though. Can't wait to have it!
