Don't blind buy The Hulk, it isn't that great. Rent it or watch it through other means first to see if you like it. It ain't no Iron Man or TDK.

Not so amazing, according to IGN's review. :(
From what I've seen, IGN is off their rocker and is complaining about there not being noise reduction applied...

Blu-ray.com has given video transfer 5/5 for this movie, saying that it's basically reference quality. It's weird however, blu-ray.com review is suggesting that the transfer looks rather noise-free, like as if DNR has been applied. In any case their 1080p screenshots suggest at a really good transfer, about what I remember seeing in the theater.

Awesome to know, then. I'm buying it, anyway. :D

It's just weird though, it looks like all of a sudden everyone has gone onto some grain / DNR witchhunt and became an expert on the issue overnight. All I can tell is that looking at the 1080p screens at blu-ray.com the transfer has a naturally expected amount of grain for a recently made movie, shot on a 35mm film. Same amount of grain like what I've seen on Transformers screenshots for example, and that's considered reference quality transfer.

Fuck I don't know why but I went on a big blu ray spending spree today and had to hold off from buying a few more.

Amazon 3 for 2:
Hellboy
Men in Black
Knights Tale

anyone have any thoughts on any of these discs? any not worth bothering with or any you consider buy right nows?

Knight's Tale is a bare-bones disc. I wish I hadn't bought it. Men in Black is a good pickup. Haven't seen the rest. And you should've picked up Batman Begins. Good looking movie and good extras, plus TDK trailer.

Also, guys, isn't the Hulk coming out this week the Ang Lee one? I haven't seen the one that came out this year, was it really that bad? I thought it got good reviews?

Finally, I saw Michael Clayton last night. Good movie, but WTF at a regular DD 5.1 track. What was WB on?? This has got to be the first HD movie I've seen (other than Planet Earth and the Discovery Channel movies) that doesn't feature at least a DD plus track. It's embarrassing. Also saw Forbidden Kingdom and What Happens in Vegas, and meh at the PQ/AQ on both.

The Dark Knight is supposedly getting a Steelbook edition in the UK. Hope it's true!

Heads up UKers. Amazon.co.uk has LOST Season 4 Blu-ray for £29.48.

Yes that's 51p cheaper than the DVD version :lol

That's also cheaper than Amazon.com's price. I would have ordered it if I didn't know that Disney region lock their BD releases, but I have a US version PS3.

It can be had from Borders.com for about $10 cheaper than Amazon with a coupon that expires tonight. But I never ordered from Borders before and don't feel like starting now knowing that you can't easily cancel an order with them, especially for a preorder that wont be out until December.

Got Speed Racer during lunch, I was worried Best Buy would sell out as they had a small allocation. Can Not Wait.

And I picked up Dark City a couple days ago at the same BB. Damn lucky!

You sure the borders.com coupon works? Most won't allow you to use them on preorders. I haven't checked my e-mail for my Borders coupons though.

Yes it works. I went through the checkout process and the discount showed up, I'm not even a Rewards member or anything, but I didn't submit the order. It's 40% off the list price of blu-ray "box sets", the code can be found on Cheap Ass Gamer or HighDefDigest bargain forums. Expires tonight.

The Mist was awesome and I'm really excited to see the black and white print of the film. Has anyone checked it out yet?

So anyone else saw Batman Begins in HD on ABC yesterday?
Was it me or did it look really fuzzy for being shot in 720p.

Batman Begins on Blu looks fantastic, that's all that matters.

I finally got around to watching V for Vendetta (on DVD) yesterday. I fell in love with the movie! Will probably be picking it up on blu-ray soon.

Hey, I got two questions:

1- My lcd rear projection HDTV only has 720p and 1080i. It's better to run ps3 games and blu-ray in 720p right?

2-What are all the TV series' released on blu-ray to date?

just thinking to myself that I can't wait for future movies release on bluray - thedaytheeartstoodstill + watchmen will both be tremendous on bluray. I find myself gravitating more and more towards big budget scifi on bluray. Also, watched mars attack over the weekend on dvd. Bad encode + blurrovision. Will kill for bluray.

That said, I watched DEVILWEARSPRADA again on bluray on my new 52" tv and it was PURE JOY. So gorgoeus.

how good is Robin Hood? like... omfg awesome good?
Well, it's a BBC thing, so if you like BBC stuff you should be alright... that said, I haven't gotten a chance to check it out yet. Here's hoping, eh? XD

I take it only recent tv shows will come out on bluray? Older ones probably weren't shot in HD? Or is the plan to eventually release everything on bluray?

The original Star Trek being remastered and released on HD DVD comes to mind.

I do wonder how they will do shows like The Xfiles, anyone who has the series on DVD knows that Season 1-3 or 4(i cant remember) are 4:3 and season 4/5-9 are widescreen.

I do believe that the plan is to eventually release everything on Blu-ray, just like they did with DVD, but that's going to take some time. As for shows like The X-Files, Justice League Season 1 is 4:3... so I'd guess they'd just release them as-is. Maybe clean them up a bit.

Pushing Daisies looks great except for the fact that the high resolution makes a messed up special effect in the first episode glaringly obvious (when Ned touches the first dead guy in the morgue). Boggles my mind how no one caught it.

just ordered:

IROBOT
DIEHARD4
PROPOSITION
NIGHTATHEMUSEUM
AVIATOR

the australian dollar is a bit weak right now but for the no. of movies + price paid, it wasn't too bad. But I just noted that new releases + shipping have now bumped up in price right up to about $40 aud (which is pretty expensive). Gotta tighten those belts to whether this coming economic storm.
