Ok so my friend wanted to get NCFOM on DVD, so I went back to the first Wal-Mart I went to earlier today with the reprint of the coupon. I don't think it scanned right, but they did something and it took $10 off. I get back home and my friend opens up his DVD and there is an original copy of the $10 off coupon...

Amazon has it listed, also it's a WB title, they're still supposed to be releasing movies until the end of May, right?

When I saw it at first I thought it was about the Dirty Harry Collection. Just realized it was about Bonny & Clyde.

Buy this movie on HD right now.

I don't think I'll ever like that movie, even in hi-def. Sorry.

Futureshop has an exclusive "Steelbook" release for the I Am Legend blu ray.

That's interesting...

this was weird.

also: wth happened to neogaf? I spent the last 3 hours hitting F5 every fifteen minutes.

I asked the guy for a list of everything that came out today and that was what he gave me. ugh. I had a list of movies I wanted to pick up (10 in all) but I lost my list before I got to the store. Oh well, they only had 5 of them anyway.

that picture is going to be on blu-ray.com soon, isn't it?

edit: yep, I guess it is. :lol

:lol Yeah I threw it over there ( with your name of course :D ).
Would love to see one of the insiders break out of their locked down state that they have been in about this whole Paramount and Universal thing.

I just saw The Mist, (during the NeoGAF shutdown too, lol). I don't know if I want to watch it again though, not because I didn't like it, but that religious nutbag was so fucking annoying, even though
she does get fucking owned by a headshot and it made me soooo happy
. That movie really surprised me.

And that I Am Legend steelbook seems like a waste of money. I'll have to rewatch it and think about that. I got the Ratatouille one which fucking owns and is totally worth it. I guess you have to really like the movie. The Ratatouille one was for the DVD so I got the BD one as well and sold the DVD.

heh, no prob.

Is there a cover for Close Encounters? I really don't want to make my own as I don't have the time for it; I'd like to just print one out and be done. (I finally got a 2-disc case for the movie)

Watched Apocalypto this morning. Totally not what I was expecting. A full third of the movie was spent running in the woods? Not sure what message Mel was going for either...it was a little spiritual/mystic(?) with the little girl and the "bad omen" stuff but grounded in reality too. Well, as realistic as you can make a movie where the main character has an
arrow go through his abdomen and then proceeds to run for what appears to be two straight days + nights.
Looked nice though. I'll watch it with the commentary and see if it helps.

Also watched The Guardian. It wasn't too bad, and was actually pretty decent at times. Plus it has Clancy Brown, he's so awesome.

The Mist will likely be on Blu overseas, as I think the same company that released 1401 on high-def also handled distribution of this one.

Paramount's got a June-something date up for There Will Be Blood BR in Germany and, of course, nothing here yet. I should be watching it in HD four weeks from now, Paramount, not three fucking months.

Just finished Sleuth.
Great great movie but probably not for everyone.
Caine and Law are both amazing, very riveting performances on both parts.
PQ is hard to call to be honest because of the cinematography.
Detail is great, and colors are vibrant though there is an intentional slight softness to it.
Audio is clean, not many show off events.
All and all a great movie.

So....Dan in real life.

Movie of the forever. srsly.

PQ was okay, not jaw dropping, but it was great. The movie itself, however, is grade A every single step of the way. Amazing.

ID4 looks great, sounds great.
Not top tier but definitely damned good.
Java goodies are very interesting, but I will honestly say that I am a bit put off by the fact that there are no deleted scenes, no featurettes and all and all just a complete let down as far as extras go.
As great as the transfer and everything is, I am honestly wishing that I waited a few weeks until it is easily found online for 19.99.

Edit: Speaking of that...

I'm a fan of Carell (heck, I own Evan Almighty), but I'll pass on owning this one. I thought the plot was off-putting (taking your brother's girl, isn't that breaking the code?!?!?!). But besides that, I never felt the chemistry between Carell and that chick, and the ending where
the brother falls in love with that other chick so he's ok with the whole thing now
is just too cliche.

Speaking of movies with weak plots and terrible chemistry, I saw TimeCop last night. Looked good for a Uni catalog flick, and sounded decent too. Not bad for a quick action fix. The last two Uni catalog titles I've seen (Daylight and this) have had surprisingly good PQ. The disc itself is embarrassingly bare bones, which makes one wonder why the movie doesn't feature lossless audio (don't know if it would've mattered). I'd say pass on this if you're a fan of JCVD or this movie, even on a firesale, and hope that the BD release is more substantial.

I've got a question:

I'm a huge movie fan, but 30 bucks for a Blu Ray movie is ridiculous in my opinion. Does anyone think that the Blu Ray movies will drop in price as Blu Ray is more widely accepted or will prices remained cemented? It's just too fucking pricey for a college student.

Same here for the moment, just too expensive for what it is. I'll have to go hijack my Dad's TV and sofa for the mean time. They will obviously all come down in price as Blu-Ray becomes adopted more, just have to be patient I guess.

I thought it was decent, and most likely perceptions of the movie were favorable because of the absolute piece of shit it initially looked like (Dane Cook and Steve Carrell of Evan Almighty in a romantic comedy!). I do think the ending almost ruined the entire thing though.

I got 20 bluray movies and never paid 30 bucks for any of those. There are more than enough deals.

This site is a good start: http://www.dvdpricesearch.com/

They list all the deals and price drops from all the major retailers.

Anyone who pays MSRP on a Blu-ray is just being foolish. Prices range from $16 to $25 at Amazon with free shipping. Do a little smart shopping and you will save big.

Damn it I should of payed extra for next day on my No Country for Old Men + Gattica order. Stupid USPS hasn't even picked up the package yet :(

They better get here before the weekend or I will be :( :( :(

If ID4 is the worst movie you have ever seen you must not have seen many movies.

Furthermore, why do people feel the need to "x movie sucks you all are a bunch of morons."

Amazon.com.

I only buy movies in stores when they are on sale or I have a coupon, like with NCFOM. $14 at Walmart is a steal.

It's a good popcorn flick. Are you really that elite that you can't watch ID4, a movie for such low life people (you know, all of us who bought / watched it)?

My suggestion to you, is to possibly consider what you are saying, and how it makes you look. :D

I dunno, I realize a lot of people enjoyed it, but ID4 was terrible. Not to mention, it single-handed revived the Disaster genre, something better left dead in the 70's.

This post is fine, because clearly you express your opinion. The other poster pretty much suggests, through his words, that watching ID4 makes you somewhat 'stupid' and that you'll just rush out and buy anything that is available.

I enjoyed ID4, but I also enjoyed films like Little Miss Sunshine and Everything is Illuminated. Just because I watched a cheesy B-Movie about an alien assault doesn't mean my taste in movies sucks, it just means I can clearly enjoy different movies for their different strengths.

It's like saying everyone who played Halo 3 was a group of idiots who just bought it up 'just because', meanwhile suggesting that only people who have played Indigo Prophecy are 'worthy' of the stage you stand on.
